Antwon Blake

Jarvis and Gay combined on an early tackle to stop a 3rd down conversion. After that, I didn't see him either. Was he hurt?

Also Cockrell is playing the sidelines perfectly. He's physical, he faces the ball, and he USES the sideline to cut off the WR. I want him on the field every ******* play!

Jarvis was out there... I saw him get penetration a few times, but nothing came from it

It's Cockrell that's getting the shaft. lol He was the one who couldn't get in the game because of Blake in the first half. He was out there a lot in the second half, though.

I thought when I first saw the title of this thread the first thing I would see was the word "sucks". He is a turd. Nothing to see here that hasn't been said.

Can Blake come up big next week? If this guy becomes some unsung playoff hero I will go full load $$$ and purchase an authentic Blake jersey

I thought it was Cockrell who took Blake's playing time. Jarvis was in there but Moates was decent. I don't know why he cant be first off the bench on both sides. Jarvis and Blake are terrible. If Blake starts next week it is because he has gay pictures of Tomlin or Tomlin made some kinda gay move on him and he is trying to silence him. He is BRUTAL.

Say what you want about Tomlin, Blake made a good play the very next play knocking it away from Pryor, and after that series, Crockell was matched up with Pryor the rest of the game. They made an adjustment with Blake.

It was actually a break for Blake; a well-thrown ball low and to the inside would have been another easy completion.

It's amazing how much better the defense becomes by simply taking Blake off of the field.

Who is this Jarvis you speak of? I never hear his name called I think he's a ghost of some sort. Maybe too many Subway sandwiches..

Because he was drafted by Tombert. We've seen many times where Tombert will start a bad player they drafted over a UDFA or lower pick or trade so it doesn't look as much that they made a bad pick.

Coach Tomlin nor Mr. Colbert drafted Anton Blake. He was a FA pickup 3 years ago...

Kind of like watching Gay suck for his first 6 years and finally having 2 good years out of his 8. Is it worth waiting 6 years before a player starts to produce ?. Sure is a lot of wasted time in my opinion.

Blake has Dwayne Washingtonitis on top of bad hips... he actually isn't the worse in zone, though he isn't breaking up the pass he is going for the big hit, but his coordination up the sidelines sucks and he is so bad at making plays in that situation that teams are targeting him even when he is in good position Add to that that he will often go for the big hit and miss.... QBs target him all day long

The more one watches, the more worserester blake looks. Cockrel and Bykin shouild be playing!!!!!!!!

Salute the nation

Gay was pretty bad until he spent that one season with the Cards and for some reason that and the then-new Coach Lake made his mind right and he was much improved.

Exactly, that was Gay's 6th season with the Cards. After that he improved. He still wasn't good when he returned to us the 7th season. It was his 8th and 9th season that he played well for us. As far as I remember anyways.

Actually Gay's early seasons he was fine with us... he had two bad ones when the large fast pass first Tes came into vougue. That put the stigma everyone had with him into play. he seems better on the outside these days. I think he and a lot of DBs like him were the victims of the league morphing so viciously in the new passing direction... it took some adaptation

I can see criticizing a high draft pick if he isn't performing. Blake is a cast-off doing his best on a CB talent short team.
I think the criticism should be directed more at management for short-changing this team talent-wise at this critical
position.

Did Grant get any playing time this year? I was excited to see a couple of CB's drafted that looked like they could play. One got punted to IR and the other to the PS. I thought Grant would show something during the year, but didn't watch to see.

Blake just needs to get ahold of some NZT from limtless and he could be the greatest CB ever. an interception on every ball thrown his way.

I can see it now - Blake will start and give up a couple huge plays or TDs, and then Tomlin/Butler will bench him. Too late. Why not? It's been the consistent pattern for weeks now.

Do they even make those?

I think the blame's been pretty evenly spread. Regardless, the reluctance to play Boykin is just mind boggling. Seems like every time he's on the field he comes up with a TO.

The other problem his lack of playing time is creating is that he probably won't want to come back next season. I don't know his contract status but if he's not signed for next year then he's as good as gone because he's pissed off and we wasted the draft pick we traded for him.

It's true about the turnovers. I think he's had 3 or 4 and a couple near misses. Can you imagine where he'd be if he'd been playing from the start?

I'm completely convinced that the coaches were limiting his snaps to protect the conditional pick. But with the regular season over, I would think that those contingencies are off. Boykin should be able to play "at will" now. And even if he can't with the Steelers in the playoffs, you'd think the coaches would pull out all the stops.

Even I would have to admit that despite the fact that I have been pulling my hair out, I would have to forgive Tomlin a tiny bit if he started Boykin. It would in fact mean he was gambling (Not living in his fears) that the Steelers would make the playoffs while Boykin was getting limited time and that they could play him more in the post season. If that's the case, it could actually REALLY work out well for Pittsburgh. They could actually field their strongest secondary just as the post season starts. It would actually be coaching shrewdness. A huge gamble, to be sure, but it may have just paid off if in fact that is what he was going for. (See me trying to help you out here, Mike)?

Add in the fact that they could actually pick up a slightly higher draft pick on a guy the Eagles foolishly tossed away - it could be lemonade.

Or, Mike could trot out Blake AGAIN and sit better players until the 2nd half when the game is in serious question and the Steelers are completely forced to become one-dimensional on offense because they've had their ***** handed to them either through points or T.O.P. or both by the other team's offense due to a non-HGH'd Blake dragging *** after receivers blazing down the field gleefully.

Blake needed 60% of the total defensive snaps for the 4th pick to be a factor. He could have started the entire month of December and the Eagles would still get a 5th. It's official, we gave up a 5th for Boykin.
