Antwon Blake

Blake is a gritty hard nosed CB but not starting material. I personally think he'd be a good backup who can play inside or out and give you depth but as a day in and day out starter you are asking for trouble. Also, I feel Butler as a whole has been having our secondary keep everything in front of them trying to avoid the big play and using blitzing and pass rush to get the QB to throw poor passes and make mistakes. So far it has worked so I am not going to second guess him. I do think if he would let our DB's loose a little more we'd get less easy passes but we also might get some bigger plays against us.

I know this thread is about corners, not safeties, but **** it lets get Troy back.

I think our safeties has been pretty sold for the most part. Mike Mitchell has been playing his best football of late.

Why not release Tyler Murphy with Ben back and sign Doran Grant!?!? With Gay banged up we could use the depth. Start Cockrell and Boykin, Grant and Blake can man the #3 and #4 spots.

Play Grant in the Nickel and Blake in the dime? Yeah, pretty sure they aren't going to demote Blake to the 4th corner and have a practice squad guy play ahead of him.

Something doesn't add up.
If Tomlin planned on keeping Gay in the slot when we go nickel, why on earth would you bring Boykin in?
If you only think of Boykin as a slot guy, why even make the move?

I would respectfully disagree here.
Mitchell has played really well and Golden is an upgrade of Will Allen.
Now, I do agree that we need to get a S in the first few rounds of the upcoming draft.
Really need a playmaker back there.

They won't do that, but that's what I would do. Grant would be the #4 because the coaches just love Blake for some reason.

Gay is hurt...he may not play next week.

depth? they were planning on Blake playing outside all the time, Golson would be main nickel backup but when he got hurt they looked for depth help where they found Boykins just in case Gay got hurt.

Blake is stiff in the hips. He has awful hip extension, mobility and flexibility. The guy just plays stiff. I like his effort and aggressiveness, seems to have decent straight line speed. That's about it. He's at best a #4 corner.

Sorry, I was being sarcastic. Should have included a smiley or something.

To beat a dead horse Tomlin is at fault. Blake should not be starting. And why didn't we pay more attention to their main weapon, the Tight end? Coaching decisions let us down. Tomlin coached teams lose too often to sub .500 teams

I ask you once before Coach, just what is his record against sub .500 teams ? Or is that just your "gut feeling" ?
