Antwan Blake

Blake was a scrapper who seemed to get better ever game he played after being switched from safety. But it may just seemed that way because the secondary stunk so bad. But geez us did he regress last year looked like Cortez 2. He did play through an injury but ya we are not going to a Super Bowl with Blake staring at corner. But a bigger question is what is up with that corner spot becoming a black hole for corners. Even Ike was stinking it up there... Scheme, coaching??? What?
 
Scapper? Yes. Kid has a ton of heart. That works well at the HS and some at the college level, but the talent pool is so deep in the NFL that he looks like a confused and lost kid running around out there. He was rated one of the worst corners in the NFL. Some weaknesses can't be fixed by heart alone. Hopefully, the Ravens take him.
 
I'll donate some $$ for the Pats or Titans to take him.

As indicated, strange things have happened............. Based on last year, our coaching staff thinks to highly of his ability. Maybe it was a cumilation of a "perfect storm" type cinerio. Boykin in dog house, injury, ect.... BUT Blake played when others were available despite his ability shown on the field. ADDITION by subtraction as seen by many.

I know I posted the screenshot but as I have stated a few times earlier I think he did get better as the year went on and he healed. I'm the first to tell you I absolutely hated Gay, I screamed game after game how much he stunk and when he left via free agency I literally threw a party. My buddies and I who watch every game together had a **** you goodbye gay party. However, look at I'm now... I think Blake may be the next gay, he may have learned by being burned in the fire. If he returns I think he will be one of the most improved players this year. I do also think that once Tomlin gets is head set on someone in the secondary he stayes with them far too long but the method to his madness may just work. We will see.
 
And to add one thing about Boykin, I heard from a very reliable source that he had a very hard time learning our scheme and screwed up week after week in practice. Some said he has a learning disability and that's why it took so long for us to see him on the field. He also told me that the rest of the nfl is now aware of it, it accidentally slipped out. Lol. So we will see what happens but the secondary did play better as the year went forward.
 
I'd be fine with signing Blake back but not for big money. I was thinking 5 million over 3 years is a fair deal at this point. If another team wants to spend more I hope nothing but the best for Blake. But right now I think teams are interested in him at the slot, which I feel is his best position, and he wants outside money and nobody is biting on that.

Give him another 2 weeks and if no one signs him I bet we can get him back for a reasonable price.

5 million over 3 years is exactly what a special teamer and fill in safety Robert Golden signed. Now a days that is backup money.

I got tired of yelling at the TV screen watching our DB's chasing after WR's and TE's since Super Bowl 45. Now when I see our opponents start the game off in Spread Offense I start thinking uh-oh its going to be a long day for the Secondary again.

Thats a pretty old article. Not saying it not true at the time it was written but it's pretty old. IMO he has the skill set, he just doesn't use it. If we get him back on the cheap and we draft a SS and another corner and the young ones we drafted last year step up this secondary just might improve enough to be reliable. Trust me, im.not saying they will be perfect or not piss us off but if the offense puts up 30 and the defense can hold opponents under 20 I'm ok with that and I think in today's nfl with all the rule changes that just might be the standard.
 
To add one more thing, that's all providing the young talent that was hurt last year steps up and contributes.
 
If it were up yo just the coaches blake would be back they loyal to a fault to overachievers. But Blake and company really pissed off AR2. He does say a lot during the season normally but the secondary play last year really pissed him off. After he spoke out positive changes went into effect. I'm surprised there isn't more turnover in the secondary because of that but maybe they are waiting on the draft.
 
Bottom line, we need an infuse of youth, the ones from last year and the CB and SS soon to be drafted. Remember, 30 out of 32 ranking speaks volumes.
 
Hopefully Blake doesn't leave Foxboro without a contract.. he's probably still waiting though.
 
Blake is now a member of Steelers south per Steelersdepot. I wonder if he'll break anymore records this year covering Hopkins, Robinson, and T.Y. Hilton in that division lol

Just went and read the article. We are getting gouged. He's not a huge loss but as I have said, we are losing alot of players but that defense was ranked 30 out of 32 and I did say it needed destroyed and rebuild. It looks like that's what they are doing.
 
Our special teams unit is getting hammered as well.

Man, Lebeau spent all those years getting fed **** players by Tomlin, finally gets away from the shittiiest dumbest coach in the league, then signs some of those players. Very odd.
