I don't remember that at all. I remember everyone going balls out crazy over the pick. I remember leading up to the draft there was quite the speculation that he might actually make it to us if Cleveland pulled a "Cleveland" pick. I remember lots and lots of talk about Ben leading up to the draft, during the draft, and an explosion of excitement when he was announced as our pick. But no, I don't remember anyone saying "who?"

That sounds familiar. Also doesn't sound unreasonable at all.

Any Steeler fan on this board that didn't know about Ben was either brain dead or drunk out of his mind. It was a huge issue on here. Most, myself included, thought he would be drafted too high for the Steelers to get him. There were many many threads about Ben, Rivers and Manning.
 
I remember being ready to pass out the closer it got to our pick and Ben was still on the board. Went nuts when we got him.

To a degree reasonable. I remember a few arguments from posters saying that Brown could never face the #1 CB on other teams, even tho teams had already begun to shift the #1 guy to Brown and leave the #2 on Wallace with safety help. The rest of the league knew that Wallace was a one trick pony, but that one trick worked pretty well for us because of the surrounding players. Now I didn't expect the type of success he's had, but I did think he would be just fine in the #1 WR role. I'm pleasantly surprised that he has exceeded my expectations by so much. He can legitimately be argued as the best WR in the game right now, and is no worse than top 3. Pretty amazing from a 6th round pick drafted more for his special teams ability than his WR ability.
 
Thank you Stonio!!!!! Helped get us Lombardi #6, then acted enough of a fool to get traded, and get us the pick we used to draft AB.

His final year when he was bitching about being underpaid and rejected the deal AB accepted. That year he dropped like half the passes thrown his way. These two factors in tandem made me hate him. I mean, I'm being a bit dramatic but that just rubs me the wrong way in general.

I recall saying at the time that Brown was not quite as fast as Wallace but was the better receiver of the two.
 
Antonio Brown has overachieved his draft status/scouting report more than any player in this organization since James Harrison (and arguably more). It's a testament to how crazy the draft is at times.

The kid came in with a chip on his shoulder, worked super hard and transitioned into becoming a professional so well he's a GM's wet dream.

It can be argued he's the greatest success of the Tomlin/Colbert regime to date and will likely be a Steeler for the next decade (barring injury or him turning into a total diva).
