Andrew Luck Retired

Essentially the guy had an artificial and experimental gasket put in his shoulder. I don't find this too hard to believe.

Hurry up and get your Under bets in on the colts win totals!

The timing is ****** though. 2 weeks from the start of the regular season?

I remember when they got the first overall pick after Manning looked like he was done. I was like that is ****** unbelievable. Didn't quite turn our how I expected.

Thing is, they got Ben an actual O-line and have always stockpiled receivers. They didn't surround this guy with much help.

Luck's o-line has been bad but reality is that Ben's line for the first 8-10 years of his career was awful as well. Ben is one of the toughest SOB's to every play the QB position in NFL history. For him to be an elite QB after the beatings he has taken is a real testament to his will to compete. Dude is a total winner and should be appreciated a hell of a lot more than what he is outside of Pittsburgh.

Wish I could like this x1000. Couldn't agree more.

I always thought he was overrated and could not stay healthy. He was a good QB but would not put him in the elite category. I think he just kinda gave up with all the injuries

exactly

he was an elite college qb, but was automatically stuck into the list of elilte nfl qbs without ever proving he had that ability, much less the durability to stick around and play at an elite level.

from his press conf it appears that the current ankle/calf injury is much more serious than was let on. He played through a lot of pain in his career and it seems this was the last straw.

Colts do have Chad Kelly on the roster. Jim Kelly's nephew. Great talent but a partier and headcase. Maybe the Colts get his head right and have a diamond in the rough.

Don't agree, he threw 171 TDs in 5 and a half years and threw 39 last year, numbers Ben has never approached. He was a great QB on mediocre teams and would have only gotten better. oh well, the guy is a Stanford grad from a wealthy family and he has a lot more brains than just throwing TDs and playing football. Think he will go on to be very successful post NFL.life.

What did he have to do to be elite? He had more TDs in his first 6 seasons than Peyton Manning and he did it with injuries and almost no help. Pagano was an awful coach.

Luck threw for 4300 and 23 TD as a rookie on an awful team. He threw 171 TDs in 6 seasons. It took Ben into season 9 before he hit 171 TDs. Brady didn't hit 171 TDs until year 8.

Luck also used to be a good runner early before the injuries started. He had 12 rushing TDs in his first 3 years

Luck was elite. By all measure. I have no idea why people resist giving him credit.

In fact, I'd argue he has a good case for Hall of Fame. The HOF took an injury shortened career into account for Terrell Davis. If they do the same with Luck, he could be in the HOF. His numbers are that strong over his 6 years.

Guy was a great talent that got the **** kicked out of him. He hasn't been healthy for a few years. Can't blame him for getting out while his body can still somewhat function.

Great points.

Luck also had 4 double digit win seasons in 5 and a half years, Ben has 7 in 15 years. Luck had 4 4,000 yards seasons in 5 and a half years, Ben has only 6 in 15 years.and had his 1st 4,000 season in his 6th year. Luck has already had a 40 TD season and a 39 TD season, Ben has only had a high of 34, last year. Ben is a great QB by any standard and by the numbers so is Luck and he was just entering his prime.

What sucks is that the Colts kept saying Luck would be fine for the season and treating it like in was a minor nagging injury. It now appears to be a major injury. So the fans are thinking he's just quitting on the team on a whim. Like he's just giving up. But the truth seems to be that it's another serious injury and he has been telling the Colts for months that he may have to retire.

You can't blame fans for being mad initially at Luck when they think he's quitting over a sprained ankle.

It's the Colts who basically lied to the fans, just like they did 2 years ago when the insisted Luck was fine and would start the season to within days of Week 1, then Luck was revealed to have a season ending shoulder injury.

The Colts fans should be booing the organization for giving Luck such a crappy O'line.

PFT says the Colts have known since March that Luck might retire. In his statement tofau he said he has been in constant pain the last 3 years and unlike 2016 he promised himself he would not play without beng able to practice and that is what he was again facing this year.

On a side note, Bruce Arians certainly didn’t help. He almost wrecked Ben, he contributed to Luck’s demise and he wrecked Palmer.
