Excellent article...well done and detailed!
Im confused though...is G. Stryker actually the forum member known as Cope?
That information is classified.
Mr. Stryker breaks it down nicely.
Samuels shows good all-around ability. He's got the hands of a wide receiver. On one or two plays where he caught it, I don't think any of our running backs would have done the same.
Scheme versatile, you can play him at H-Back, Tight end, Running back, or Fullback. A creative minded offensive coordinator ( which Haley was not ) can use a player like this in a variety of roles, disguising*the offense's intention do to his versatility.
He's a gamer for sure, I just wish he was a tad quicker with better acceleration. I'm not sure if he can beat NFL linebackers or End the way he did in college as a pass catcher or runner. I am most interested to see how he would look as a feature back. The pre-season will show us.
What I liked best about the film in order:
1 ) His hands and ability catch all types of passes.
2 ) The ability to run with power, like a top FB. A red zone threat or 3rd and short threat. We have a need for such a player.
3 ) His football IQ and effort. The route running looks solid to me.
I think his*quickness to the hole and ability to accelerate around the corner biggest obstacles to success in the NFL. Listed at 225 pounds, he might be better off at 210-215 in the NFL.
