America turns 250. No politician can take away my love and gratitude for my homeland, the nation that welcomed my refugee parents in the 50s.

Now and forevermore, holding fast to our true ideals of freedom, liberty, and democracy.

Happy 250th to you Tibs, and everyone else. In too many other nations, saying anything critical would cost you and your family dearly. Here we have the freedom to be wrong, inappropriate, closed minded, etc. This is the only way to allow thought to move freely, gaining wisdom for those who want it.

Of all the screwed up, corrupt, sickening, maddening, murderous, sad nations, this one is still the best.
 
Say what you want about what is wrong with the USA. There are still more things that are right in this country.

Always admired George Foreman waving the American flag in the ring at the 1968 Olympics when he won the gold medal with the backdrop of everything else that was going on. That man got it.
 
Since I'm old and remember things.....
Summer of 1976 I was 15 years old. People were making a much bigger fuss over the 200th anniversary but since then we've had two generations indoctrinated by public schools and universities that America is a horrible and evil place and slavery has never ended. Never mind that people aren't paddling inner tubes from Miami to Havana.
That summer my neighbor, town councilman and big-time union Democrat with the IBEW, painted an American flag on the front of his house, the whole front of his house.
Local paper put a photo on the front page and the wire services picked it up and it made national news.
I don't think you would see a Democrat paint a flag on the front of their house now unless it was a rainbow flag.

This country and our flag existed long before Donald Trump and will survive long after he is gone.
If your patriotism rises and falls based on who is in the White House (and based on previous posts, that would include the OP here as well as the village idiot), perhaps your allegiance is to politics and not our country. The flag represents the nation and our people, not whichever party happens to be in power at the moment. While I had nothing to do about where I was born, I am so blessed that it was here.
 
Ask an extremist reparation seeking African American who in 2026 is still whining about this nation being racist, oppressive, and stacked against him if he wished his ancestors were never brought here.
Appreciate what your ancestors and the hell they had to endure for you to be here and STFU.

Ugh what a dark time. Some people are still in the grips of the psychological operation no kidding last night I was pulling into Chick-fil-A and saw someone else pulling out wearing literally a hoodie and a mask in 95° temperatures.
