This loss is bittersweet but that's not why I am deciding to do this. I've lived through worse losses than this. At almost 49 years old I have come to the realization that I no longer enjoy investing my time and my emotions in the game of football nor do I feel like I need to. Now I'm sure all the young bucks will call me out on this one but the old timers might understand. I don't know what it is but I feel that being older the time in my life is more important to me and my family than wasting my Sundays watching the NFL. Maybe other people have felt the same thing but it happened to me earlier this year with Fantasy Football Leagues as I am just burnt out and no longer enjoy doing them. I will be retiring those leagues after this season....and I honestly don't know if I'm going to continue to be a football fan or possibly just be a more casual fan. I feel like it's a waste of time and I'm just not enjoying it as much anymore.

Naw man. Always a Steelers fan here. Sure the season sucks. But our guys are not gonna be world beaters every season. Does it suck? Sure. But always happy to watch the Steelers when I can. We all feel pissed as fans cause we put emotional investment in this team. But grab a drink, take a walk. The sun will rise tomorrow. The Steelers will still be a professional football club. Sometimes it doesn't go our way

yeah bail on being a Steelers fan great ******* idea, get the **** out of my face

Not bailing on the team......maybe your younger but I just don't feel like investing my time, life and emotions in the game any longer. Really don't care much for watching it anymore.

Hard to care very much when Tomlin seems too distracted by idiocy to do **** as a coach. Okay, go for the 1st 2-pointer. Fine.

After that, kick the ******* thing!!

Oh, and Boswell can blow a goat. Another drifter to the right??? Not like four ******* extra points and a ******* field goal mattered, amiright?!?!?

I am 48 years old. This franchise has won more SBs than any other franchise. Yeah our head coach blows Donkey dick, our D coordinator blows Monkey dick.

Just step back take a breather and expect less.

But you don't give up watching, as a fan show some loyalty.

That is a old timer approach.

Kick the extra points.
You're not re-inventing the game.
There's a reason other coaches kick the extra points.

Slash bleeds black & gold 24/7 bud. I know all yinz old timers have it in ya to see this team has problems. I remember the 98-2000 years under Cowher and those seasons feel no where as bad. I'm a youngster here. Been spoiled with the 2000 era Steelers. Those seasons all missed one thing and that was a QB. Ben was Cowhers biggest and piece. That era of football 10-15 seasons ago is a lot different. But always gotta represent win or lose

C'mon man, watching Coach Tomlin and his merry cluster of minions is far better than embracing .... The Kardashians!

Hey Checo, I felt the same way and I stopped watching for over a year. What made me stop watching was the way the NFL allows the Patriots to cheat. It's worth ot for them to cheat. Every year they got caught they won the super bowl. They just do nothimg to stop them. Anyway I did miss my team the Steelers. I was 50 last year but I really like our players. But I did boycott by not paying for the NFL ticket. I know not a big loss to them but if everyome did we could of made a difference. Take a year off and see how you feel. It's hard to care so much forna team every year.

I actually get what you're saying, up until the last few years it would take me days to get over a loss like this. I just don't let it get to me anymore. It used to hurt because I felt like winning was everything to the Rooneys, now I feel like they could give a **** less, so if thats how they are going to feel **** them they wont get another dime out of me. Last year I spent close to seven grand on this team with tickets and gear for the family no ******* more until they show me they care about winning, and that starts with some ******* heads rolling.

Pfft. By a mile. I'll tell you what though. If our guys lose next week. I'm mysteriously disappeaering. I can't fathom a loss to the Browns. It's the nfl sure. But that will be some ****** up **** in my 23 years of Steelers fandom.

Would you say that to Jack Lambert one of the most beloved Steelers of All-Time who admitted he lost his love for the game and no longer watched football?

In my younger years I lived and died with Steeler wins and losses, now I just view it as entertainment and don't really care after the game who won or loss, it means NOTHING in the real world.

see you hit them in their wallets, you don't have to stop watching........

I've told my kids this for years. "if they don't care, why should we?"

it's true. game has absolutely, NOTHING, to do with us. it's about coin for the league and players. 3/4 of players could care less if they win or not. It's about individuals, instead of team. promoting themselves for a sponsorship.

I love the STEELERS! just not in love with the coach and some of the players....

I would say he was a Steeler player, not a Steeler fan.

As a Steeler fan, you are responsible to stay with your team through thick and thin, until the bitter end.

This organization isn't the Cleveland Browns, they deserve more respect that fans bailing because of a losing record.

Do I want Butler gone? **** yes

do I want Tomlin gone? **** yes

but the tat on my arm is for life... unless the Steeler pull some Sandusky kind of thing or Billacheat kind of thing, and that isn't going to happen.

You seriously underestimate Tomlin's utter and complete incompetence, and this joke of a defense.

While you and I have had some recent disagreements, this is one where I completely agree. You don't give up when things are going bad. And if you do, you may as well follow the flavor of the month and not the ******* Pittsburgh Steelers.

Yep I still watch and I still cheer my *** off with two of my kids, but when its over its over, I feel pretty much the same way win or lose. The funny thing is, is that when my kids were younger we took two vacations a year, we would always go someplace we had never been before, and we always went to the burgh for a week to sight see and by steeler gear for that season. last year we traveled from Alabama to Pittsburgh for the thursday night ravens game. spent a **** ton on tickets and travel and **** ton more on gear to take home, this year gave myself Sunday ticket and nothing else. I have been a fan since I could say steelers and I am 55 years old now, They will always be my team, hell my son and I have matching tat's, but until they start showing me they care about the fans, I wont get emotionally attached.

I am roughly your age, and around work there used to be a rule to not speak to me after losses until Wednesday. With age I have mellowed quite a bit. The losses suck, sure, but I am already over this one. My expectation for these guys is lowered. However, I do enjoy my Steeler Sundays, my family is cool with my scheduling life around the game. My daughter who is now 15 enjoys watching with me. I am not giving that up.
