It’s easy for sports news to get blown out of proportion which then leads to speculation, Ben Roethlisberger didn’t shy away from voicing his opinion when it came to the organization drafting Mason Rudolph. Many see Rudolph as Roethlisberger’s replacement down the road, which is the logical approach to dissecting the pick as it’s no […]

I think. Maybe more they went offense at all at that pick is what stirred him up.

How is he supposed to react? Retire?

Time for the season to start, we need real news...

No, but he knows help needed on defense so why pick another qb right now?

1) I don't think I care if Ben and Rudolph "get along"... I care if Ben and his WR's and Offensive Coordinator get along
2) Ben's question about "how does this help us win now?" was correct. Drafting Rudolph there doesn't really help Ben...
3) Ben needs to shut up about this draft pick. Ben is the one who hinted at retirement last season. The Steelers absolutely KNOW that Landry Jones isn't the answer, so they drafted a QB they think could develop.

Everybody talks about how big a drop off there will be when BEN retires and I think maybe BEN even wouldn't mind seeing them drop thus proving how more valuable he was. This organization has been continually COMPETATIVE by being pro-active in the personnel department. Before I owned my own company, no one asked me who they should hire or for what position and when..... I know everyone has their opinion and BEN stated his which ha[ppened to be different than OWNERSHIP, thus they did what they felt was right without BEN's input. When the employees run the show bad things happen as they don't know the full picture. Did Ben put in his pre-draft study and did he know who would have been a MUC H BETTER pick and position for the STEELERS?? Everyone including BEN has their opinion and as in this case,........................... The Media blew things out of proportion, as usual.

Ben isn't going to turn his back on this young kid anymore than he did for Landry or Dobbs. Once practice starts and they get to know each other and realize they both have the desire to win NOW, they will find their commen bond. This team is better right now, for this draftee as he has raised the competition level.

Blown out of proportion.
Move along. Nothing to see

Like any one of our SUPER carriers. VS. China's ONLY carrier, blown out of proportion. Is that the type of blown proportion you are talking about??? The Media would tell you we lost but fought valiantly.............

You have to determine on your own what is true and what is not, what is blown up and what isn't. I value and miss the days when MEDIA would actually print / report truth and context. BEN will be fine along with the new kid. CAN"T wait for the something football related true action to start.

Dont put bulllets in the gun if you dont want someone to shoot it.. meaning if Ben doesnt go on the radio talking the media cant create a story

All good between them, I think. But expect the media to fan the flames whenever then can.

What I didn't like about this non-story was the way it was covered by NFL Network, Bleacher Report, (and even the local radio sports talk show down here in the ATL) like this was breaking news the day after Ben was on the radio. I had folks who are fans of other NFL Teams asking me what happen to Ben, why is Ben being a drama queen, why is he complaining, etc.. Sad part is that most of those folks got their info from those 3 sources and didn't read or hear all of Ben's comments. Because when I mentioned the part about Josh Dobbs most them said they liked Dobbs and wanted to know was Pgh giving up on him?

I love the Mason Rudolph pick. Not only do I think we will have at the least a very good back up Quarterback, but the pick made Ben commit to playing for several years. * No more of this one year at a time stuff from Ben.

I do think Ben will work a little harder because of Rudolph pick. I'm curious to see what*Rudolph*shows*in camp and the pre-season.

NEWSBen Roethlisberger: ‘I’m Still Going To Take It One Year At A Time’

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger made an appearance on the radio soon after the draft in an interview that largely focused on the team’s decision to use a third-round selection on quarterback Mason Rudolph. The sentiment was largely driven by the presence of Landry Jones and Joshua Dobbs on the roster, but more so his desire for the team to draft somebody that could help him win a Super Bowl in 2018.

One of the threads that has been woven through the fabric of the offseason so far has been the sentiment that Roethlisberger has told the organization that he feels like he can play for three or more years. We heard this from virtually everybody but Roethlisberger until he said it in that interview.

He said that he told the front office right away. “I wanted them to know so that they wouldn’t have to worry about drafting a quarterback”, he said during the interview. Yet even then, he added, “the key is, for me, I’m always going to take it one season at a time”, which was a comment that went surprisingly unnoticed.

He said it again during the first day of OTAs, which makes it all the more perplexing why Roethlisberger would have expressed a confusion over why the team would attempt to address the future of the quarterback position if given a golden opportunity, which was the case when Rudolph slid to the third round.

“I think just being excited about the group we have. The linemen in particular in front of me”, he told reporters. “Having those guys back makes me feel good, because I’m healthy. Just lots of prayers and spending time with family. I’m still going to take it one year at a time, but just feeling like what you have left in the tank”.

The veteran quarterback spent much of his interview session trying to clarify things that he had previously said, which might be a reminder to him that perhaps he should be more diligent in paying attention to what he says in the public, so that he doesn’t have to answer the same questions multiple times, weeks apart.

The bottom line, really, is this: nothing has changed from a year ago. Every season, Roethlisberger is going to reflect upon his playing career, how he feels physically and mentally, where the team is from a competitive standpoint, and what his family life dictates, and is going to make a decision on a yearly basis on whether or not he is going to come back for another season.

That is where we were last year. That is where we are now. The only difference is that he decided much earlier this year. We’ll be in the same situation a year from now as well. And that’s fine. Frankly, chances are he will play another three to five seasons, or even more. But not even he will know for sure until we get there. So that’s why you plan ahead to prevent from getting caught with your pants down when you don’t have a quarterback you can put out on the field.

Ben is just as selfish as Bell. Only difference is, Ben already got paid.

Ben said Rudolph has a good arm when he overthrew AB. A backhanded compliment, or was he being honest?
