Alan Faneca Named a Finalist for HOF

True, but Troy was a different animal, he was a S/LB hybrid. He played around 2 seasons worth of games less than Reed, but had more tackles, double the amount of sacks, and more forced fumbles.

Actually he went to the Jets for two seasons first, but I don't remember anyone hating him. His issue was with OLine coach Zierlein trying to run that zone blocking scheme with those guys. Our OLine was horrible too, Ben took a beating, but we won the Super Bowl in 2008, I still don't know how Ben wasn't MVP of that game, he was under pressure all night

I know we joke about rayray the knife, but there is some merit to that ordeal. I'd have Lewis sit out a year just to send a message, then after that give it a vote.

You're kidding, right Tom? You don't remember the "Don't let the door hit you on the ***" sentiment at the time?

Do you remember that Faneca was excluded from the team photo while they were still "supposedly" trying to come to terms?
 
I love Faneca and hope he gets in but will not be surprised at all if he doesn't, don't really see him as a sure hall of famer

I don't remember fans hating him to much, I mean he was dead on with his criticism of the OLine coaches scheme with that group. There weren't any team mates coming out and tearing him down like they are Harrison.

He's the best guard of his era and arguably the best guard ever, could stay home and maul you or could pull and get out in front and make blocks in the second level, hell he played LT one year and did it extremely well.

Faneca was a beast. But when you look at him now it's hard to believe he wasn't juicing. The dude used to be HUGE, now he looks like your tall Dad.

Diet and running marathons will cut a **** ton of weight. The amount of body fat linemen carry is significant. The majority of them could easily cut 50-100 lbs of it.

I remember is wasn't long after retirement he did a interview and talked about taking care of himself and not carrying all the weight the rest of his life like so many other players do. He got down to a respectable weight for his frame. It was a lot like 80lbs or so. I always wondered if he was juicing but like all players they are JUICING right to the edge of not failing random drug test. At the end in PITTSBURGH he did speak out and aired publicly things that should have been kept in house. I think that is what so many disliked. I hope he gets the nod.

Faneca eats right and does Marathons, instead of eating 7-10 thousand carbs to keep weight on like in his NFL days
