After reviewing the running backs, I picked the one who I think would be best for the

For me I could care less if he admitted he was wrong or was irritating during a debate. I had moments of that when I was younger probably some of that still float around in my bathtub. Imperfect as we are. I focused in on his main body of work and the value that represented which was second to none. I didn't always agree with him but that mattered not. I enjoyed reading his detailed draft analysis, and being a draftnick knowing what is out there on the market? I have found few to rival it. Not unlike any heated debate you have to let the small stuff go and not hold onto it. Most of us have an annoying quality or two. I will give you a metaphor. In the coding world you get to communicate with a Dr. more than you would in a normal short term inpatient stay. They are often tunnel visioned in their responses, go by the beat of their own drum, set in their ways and don't always conform necessarily to what I want or what the hospital wants in its entirety. But yet there they are specialist in their area of expertise. The hospitals focus in on their main attributes over their idiosyncrasies. It isn't like you are wanting a lesser experienced Dr. as a result. No they focus in on their value which obviously neither of us could bring to the table. **** I couldn't even play a Dr. on TV. I will take that 7 days a week and twice on Sundays over some idiotic chest thumping maroon that sees a ten second highlight film mixed in with Walterfootball's opinion, a 40 time and thinks he is some sort of great talent evaluator. Then comes back a year later incorrectly remembering **** as if his memory is a virtual coloring book made up in his bizarro world of a mind held together page by page with digested Elmer's glue.

I agree I enjoyed his write-ups an insight on players. But it all started in 2003 when he was all up on Dave Ragone and Lee Suggs. I respectfully disagreed with his assessment of both players. I wasn’t I’m right you’re wrong but I said his knee was a concern and he didn’t look like he had power. Ragone I said didn’t have an NFL arm. He blew up at me to question his opinion on these players. I stood my ground and after the draft when he stated how dumb we were for trading up to get Polamalu and how he’d of got both Suggs and Ragone. Again an argument pursued. In 2005 when Ragone and Suggs were out of the league and Polamalu had been selected to back to back pro bowls he would not admit to his Suggs and Ragone mistakes or that Polamalu was a good pick but focused on Alonzo Jackson being a wasted pick. Yep, he definitely nailed that draft. I typically backed down from his arguments after that because too many people stroked his ego and it had become intolerable to have a civilized discussion that opposed his opinion. But in 2011 I was certain JJ Watt was worth giving up our entire draft Mike Ditka-esk to acquire him. I did not back down and he would not or perhaps better stated could not admit he was wrong. Fast forward to 2014 and the famed Dri Archer pick. I was on the side that a third round comp pick that could be a gadget player for the offense wasn’t a bad pick. He stated a player of his size wouldn’t make it in the NFL. He was right and I was wrong. He left after that thread only to return to make sure we all knew he was right and then left again. Good for him for being right on a pick that has a 12% chance of becoming a starter. Still wouldn’t answer me on JJ Watt though.

I do a mock along mock every year and post it on here. I do it to keep myself in check and to see how my draft picks end up doing. Right or wrong I keep it going.

Coach, Firstly, nice write up and I appreciate the effort and you make some good points. Secondly, stop taking yourself so seriously. It doesn't matter what ANY of us say on this board as we're all pulling information from the same sources. We all have opinions and it's FUN to spew them out there and have a laugh with the guys, argue and brow beat one another, and in the end we are just sharing in Steeler fellowship. If you make a mistake, admit it, laugh at yourself, and move on. Hell, I HATED the Big Ben draft pick. We had Tommy Gun and to me, it was a wasted pick. MAN WAS I WRONG! right? you're probably chuckling at me now while reading this. It's all in fun man. Think of this place as one large *** Steeler bar and by 6PM most of us are on our way to getting hammered for the evening.

I remember that draft well Badcat. I wanted a corner, and since Hall and Robinson went right before us, I was hoping to grab Shaun Andrews. Really good player, but he was a headcase. I don't know if our medical staff would have done better with him, but nothing would have been better than picking Big Ben when we did.

To add to your post Cope, I remember how the medicals on Andrews were all 50/50 because of the polyps in his sinuses issue. Some took him off their board just because they felt a malingering ailment shouldn’t be a 1st rounder. Philly did allow him to have the surgery and he gave the league 5 good years out of 7. All in all glad we didn’t get him because he was on the top of Cowher’s board before Mr. Rooney steered the convo back to QB.

As for Ben, I remember him in part because of the MAC conference itself starting to showcase some skill players with their schools. But when I watched Miami OH in their bowl game (Ben’s last game) I remembered how poised and superb he played basically blistering Louisville defense for 4 TDs. He even punted that game IIRC. So when he kept falling I was hoping he would make it to Pittsburgh. Bouchette and Savran really put the devil’s advocate acknowledgement on Maddox’s long term answer and it was kind of like the perfect storm. Glad he was there, but also realized he would be a couple years down the road. Then with how he responded when Tommy went down, it was like a sign for the offense to listen to Whiz and chuck the Tommy Gun offense because balanced offense makes for a better defense.

I'm going to do you a favor Coach.

Give me 3 of your previous picks where you were utterly, completely wrong. Tell us why you liked them, what you though was going to make them good/great players and let it go at that. Just allow yourself to be wrong. Don't bring up mitigating bullshit, don't say, but if THIS system was used. Just go ahead and allow yourself to be wrong.

I'm pretty sure we'd all appreciate and respect you more for it. And it's not like we can give you **** for being wrong. You were already wrong. It's just not that big of a deal.

You didn't happen to be at draft day the day we drafted Ben were you? There was some guy in the East Club lounge that was ******* livid we took Ben, he stormed out pissed at the world. LOL. Sounds like it could possible you

No NO NOOO

you would think he would of solved that problem of fumblitis ... It is not like he doesn't have coaching especially from a big 10 school that is known for running the football... maybe more running team then michigan and OSU.

Okay, I wont mention the system the player used.

I thought Randy Gregory's film and upside was very impressive. He flopped. I don't have access to drug reports. So that was one I missed.

I liked Lacy, and he was the rookie of the year. He had the skills but little did I know he would eat himself out of football.

For a Steeler example, I'd say Bell. I still think he's massively over rated ( and as predicted would be bad once he left the Steelers ). The guy I saw in college was slug like. Bell did the opposite of Lacy, lost 20 pounds and improved his quickness.

Better?

Lacy was a fine pick at the time. I'm glad we ended up with Bell, he was the much better back.

Also Gregory's drug issues were all over that draft. It's why I had him as undraftable. Pot addiction is a flag I never let go. I argued with a bunch of you about that prior to that draft, and we ended up getting the best OLB that draft anyway. That whole draft was who's best: Gregory, Ray, or Dupree. Turns out it was Dupree. Don't try and rewrite this draft by saying you didn't know about Gregory's failed drug tests. It was all over the draft news, and was the reason why he dropped to Dallas at the end of the 2nd round.

Thanks. To let you in on a well-known secret, I have fun here. I laugh at the overreactions based on what I say, which over time, is usually proven to be correct.

As for a Steeler bar, I used to go to one in the 1990s to see the games. Many were mostly Pittsburgh people who relocated including the owner. It didn't matter to them if I had the only luxury car in the parking lot; they accepted me as one of their own. The bartender rocked; you could say I was taken care of. As soon as I arrived, I had a bucket of Iron City, and yes I actually liked it for the games.

Here the mods, often change the titles of my thread. I'm not taken care of, but as I said above, that's not why I here.

I'm pretty sure if I meet some of the people here without saying the name coach, some of the posters who build their post count replying to my stuff might even like me.

I don't really care if a player smokes pot as long as he can control it. Most NFL players smoke pot. Warren Sapp had a drug issues and his career turned out fine. Same things with Randy Moss. I would have taken the both as their talent to me was rare. With Gregory drugs destroyed him. Fans do not get first hand testimonials from the people who know him, nor do they get the full FBI like character reports, the NFL teams do. Half the time the press reports rumors from other teams that hope a player XYZ falls to them because of it. Another poster asked for a player that flopped that I liked so I listed him.

The guy I really liked was Peters at Cornerback. He turned out just fine. Of corse he was taken a few picks before Dupree.

Speaking of the 2015 Draft, I was not a fan of it in general and hated picks in round 2 and 3. Remember?. All we have left is Bud.

  • 1st Round - Bud Dupree, EDGE..
  • 2nd Round - Senquez Golson, CB. I screamed bust.
  • 3rd Round - Sammie Coates, WR. Did not like this pick at all
  • 4th Round - Doran Grant, DB.
  • 5th Round - Jesse James, TE. - A solid pick for round 5
  • 6th Round - L.T. Walton, DL.
  • 6th Round - Anthony Chickillo, EDGE/OLB. I thought this was a solid pick for round 6.
  • 7th Round - Gerod Holliman

I'm with you, I don't mind a player smoking pot. Gregory had a pot problem. Multiple failed tests in college, failed at the combine, interviewed and stated he couldn't get up and out of bed without smoking. With the league rules, he was screwed if anyone took a chance on him. Dallas did, and it was a waste of a pick. Dude hasn't been able to put down the plant since. I will say, moving forward, it is now less of an issue, since it looks like the NFL decriminalized pot in this past CBA.

Sad for Golson, never saw the field once. Couldn't stay healthy. Ironic that we have his CB partner from college on our team and doing well (Hilton). We always were chasing that big bodied WR for Ben. Coates was a miss. I didn't like his foot speed and his hand positioning was trash.

Ravens jumped in front of us in Rd 2 to draft TE Maxx Williams. Golson might not have been our pick if Maxx was on the board. Joke was on them though, Jessie turned out to be a much better all round TE.

Oh you are special alright, our own special window licker. No you aren't often correct. Far far far from it. Like on the idiot level . You are only a legend in your own mind.

Like you? I seriously doubt I would like you in any setting unless I am feeling sorry for you and handing you a coloring book and crayons.

You ******* tool.

hi

You are a simpleton.... most know you weren't the first one pimping Watt . I pimped him like no other. You just jumped on the Taylor bandwagon your first picks are in the sticky thread which is your picks. I still think Dobbins will have the better career I guess like you love to say we will see if I am right again. You are the most delusional retarded window licking Steeler fan I have ever witnessed. Trust me I have been on message boards for a long long time that is really saying something. No way shape or form could you do a better job than Colbert. I would say you are trolling but you really are that stupid to think that you are capable of doing a better job.

You only take bets if you can redo the terms. But you are some all seeing guru.

No you are a ******* joke, a ******* maroon, a ******* idiot. Nothing about you is even remotely intelligent.

Every time you claim something the majority of the time it is a lie.

You think you will impress someone with your garbage but nobody outside of a troll or someone trying to be nice to you will ever say anything different.

You are a piece of ****, now run a long dipshit and see if you can dig up something else to plagiarize.

Hey ******** if I lived in a trailer I would deal with it, which I don't and most laugh in your face daily which they do. For the 100th time you are not a draftnik watching highlights does not make you a draftnik.

Coach is right, you do live in a trailer. When you get out of bed with your sister, go outside and adjust your satellite dish you ********.
Must you be a douche tool every day of your pathetic life?

This post would have gone a long way towards changing some feelings but you just can't help yourself. The highlighted text is case and point what people get sick of. Regardless if it was right or wrong, why do you feel the need to say that? One word Coach, one word, would go a long long way towards fixing your rep, Humility.

Troll I could care less what you think, BTW it wasn't my sister it was yours. I had to shove a sock in the ******* mouth though she squealed like a pig. Wild one that one...feisty little *****.

No reason for you to stay sore at me though, she wanted it. She spread easier than land-o-lakes butter.

So try to simmer down on your anger it is almost like we are family now.

This and that luxury car stuff in the parking lot. Does anyone in a bar cares what other people's cars have?

One thing is for sure though, if I had a luxury car I sure as hell would contribute to this site.

Sorry douche tool, I don't have a sister, so dream on **** for brains.

When I read write ups on Dobbins, you always see how he is a power back. Very few mention his speed. He can run inside and get around the edge. He can catch out of the backfield. And, he runs in the 4.4 range. He can take it to the house! I would be ecstatic if he is our pick at 2.49.

slash, if what you say is true then................ YOU and the kid are Eskimo brothers. He claims no sisters as he looks at her differently..... Kind of like his mom, he views her as laundry and basement housing..........

TROLLS have a way about themselves that always make them feel good about who they are and how superior they are to others. Bless this very one !!!
