Fingers crossed.

Wouldn't it be something if he DID notify the proper people of the number change but they still tried to contact/schedule him on his old number (which does happen). Meaning not at fault, 0 games missed, and alot of people here looking stupid for comments made. Like I said, it was a missed drug test and not a actual substance violation, should've waited on the appeal before going ape ****.

Well said. Could be administrivia!! There must be some sort of anticipation of difficult contact for situations just like this. It would be great if he was able to produce some independent lab tests showing him to test clean, today.

Wouldn't that make pats* fans heads explode if it was revoked.

It all depends if Bell changed his # and gave the NFL, and whomever the new number. If he didn't, he is sunk. If he did and the NFL called the old number, he can win.

Bullshit......all the tester has to do is show he made good effort to contact him.

“He feels comfortable he may win it. I don’t feel as confident because it’s up to his responsibility. He’s the one who put himself in the program. He’s the one who has to make sure that anytime there’s any kind of question mark, you have to notify [the league]. In terms of changes to cell phone, address, location, anything that is out of the ordinary, we need to know.”

You can't miss appointments that aren't scheduled with the person who is involved. Him trying to get a hold of him doesn't constitute him missing the test in my eyes. Show up at his house if you have to. But I consider him missing a test as Him knowing he has an appointment and missing it. There has to be cell phone records.

Who cares! I don't. We have a, more than capable, back. if he's innocent, then he did what he should have been doing...

If this was valid, why would he have tweeted "Selfishness is poison?"

If he changed phones and didn't notify the NFL he did so, it's still on him.

Let's all hope he did notify the NFL. Its just curious to me that in e he missed one or two tests that the NFL didn't contact the Steelers? What's the span of days that went by. So he missed a test on Tuesday, did they schedule him another the next day? And so on. Or was this one in April and he didn't show up so they scheduled him another in June and he didn't show up.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Not sure I am buying his claim. The very second he changed his number, it was on him to make sure they had it, and the old one was deleted.

And you aren't allowed to give a alternate number?

I think Bell is just trying to feed people a slimmer of doubt.

While this is true, this also puts the ball in the leagues court to show that they exhausted all options to contact him. Did Bell notify them of the change? Did Bell perhaps have someone elselisted with another number that they could contact, almost like an "emergency contact?" Did the NFL attempt to contact the Steelers? If so, at what point? Bell seems extremely confident that this is going to go away. To the point that he's publicly stating it. Either he knows a whole lot more than us and all the media outlets(as he probably should), or he's got a couple of brass nads swinging between his legs. Hopefully, we find out more before Thursday.

Regardless of if he escapes through a loop hole, there's no way I throw a huge contract at him after this season. I run him til the wheels fall off and let someone else gamble that kind of loot on a guy who obviously can't leave the **** alone for a few years. If some believe he doesn't have an issue they're welcome to believe so. I call it like I see it.

I'm not buying his bullshit. he knows he is in the league drug program and of course if the drug tester can';t get a hold pf Bell his next call is to the league's office and then the Steelers to have them contact Bell before he is automatically failed a drug test by not appearing. And of course if this changed my number were top wprk there would never be another NFL player who ever had to take a test because they would change numbers daily, not hard to do, especially to avoid a drug test failure.

Again the team is not contacted apparently. So who knows

There must be a protocol for this sort of thing. I'm guessing that players are told that they have to have a current number on file at all times. If Bell did give the league this new number then i'd say he has a great shot to beat this. If he just got a second phone without telling anybody then there's no way he beats this. All anybody would have to do is just never answer their phone and claim they never got the message.

"If you change your phone number, you probably won't be reached" - John Madden
"If you change your phone period, you probably won't be caught" - Tom Brady

The parameters of the drug testing policy states that the testing agency can contact the player via phone, text or overnight (FedEx, etc) correspondence. Additionally, a player's agent and NFLPA can be contacted if the player is unavailable for contact. But it does state that the PLAYER is required to provide the Medical Body of the League testing agency a phone number for which he can be reached at ALL times.

So we are to believe the testing agency only tried contacting a repeat high profile offender via cell phone and at ;least 3 times the missed the testing date and they never contacted his agent or used Fed Ex , riiiiiiight.
