Add Snell now? Coach says Snell’s ‘future is very, very bright’

Snell is good when he has a hole big enough that some guys on this forum can run through. He can fight for more yardage once he gets though the hole, but come on guys, the Our OL and a tired SD defense were factors.

If Snell can do this in multiple games, then I'll change my mind.

He has flashed in more than one game. Now I return you to your regularly scheduled agendas.

Past unwillingness to eat crow determined.... that was a lie

The positive, Snell looked good vs. a bad squad and got pumped up by the homefield advantage and an OL that seemed to have finally showed up with a little nasty for a game.

I'm glad he performed well in circumstances in which I too could have probably averaged over 5 ypc, but pump the brakes on the enthusiasm race car

Until the perfect storm unfolded vs the Dolts the kid has had 1 or 2 good plays in his young career. His resume is very limited, it's WAY too early to tell.

I'm 100% on board with hoping he is awesome, but that performance to me was an OL that has grossly underperformed all season finally EARNING a game check (those guys make way too high of a percentage of our cap to be a non factor week in and week out). Maybe the chippy practices with the big nasty D playing too hard woke em up.

Dude , Jarvis Jones has flashed in more than one game too! Lots of past busts did the same thing. Like usual hindsight should prove me right, Snell is NOT long term starting material.

He's a good story who played well on a night when he OL was kicking @ss. Like I Said, some of these holes he ran through were huge.

So you want to compare a rookie RB with a OLBer who was a bust. So your contention is that the other RBs on the roster have smaller holes to run through? Your debate is looking suspect.

Too early to tell one way or another but he definitely doesn't look like a bust, worst case would be a decent backup, he has a lot of room to grow physically

Everyone on here should be pulling for Snell to be great. We should also be pulling for Conner and Samuels to be great. At this point, Conner probably doesn't get a 2nd contract. Not that I wouldn't want him on the team but the team will have JuJu, Watt and I believe one other big time player (can't recall who) that are due their 2nd contracts at the same time as Conner. Chances are Conner will be the odd man out. But, we should be in good hands no matter how that shakes out as Conner, Samuels and Snell have the potential to be very good starters in this league - Conner already is as long as he holds onto the ball.

Or he doesn't take much to resign and signs a friendly extension.

Coach has his opinion. Mine is based in some part on Benny Snell’s heritage. His great uncle Matt Snell along with Joe Willie Namath ( I was born in Beaver Falls in1951) dominated the “vaunted Baltimore Colts” in SB 2.

Take some time to watch a rerun of it and you will see what Matt Snell did.

When I heard the Steelers got Benny Snell I was pleased. Tough runner who will help us slug it out in the running game.

I remember watching Matt Snell who was one bad motherpucker. He and Emerson Boozer, Don Maynard, and George Sauer provided Joe with some excellent weapons.
If Benny has inherited any of Uncle Matt’s traits, then we’re in business.

And btw, Joe Willie was the AFL at the time and he put that league on his back. Huge fan of Joe as a kid especially since I grew up in Pittsburgh.
