Above all else in pre season

Drunk and Riding…..????

Salute the nation

You will get pulled over…. .if it’s a motorcycle you’re riding.
I don’t know about if you’re drunk and riding a horse.

One lesson I learned about drinking and driving…don’t..,because you may spill some on yourself.

I just dont think we should draft a QB just to draft one. Im also not a fan of sacrificing basically the whole draft to move up. I get we need a QB but if take one just to take one we are just wasting a pick / multiple picks. We can be patient and roll a yr or two w/ Rudy / Howard. If we pick someone and it doesnt work out fans will say they reached. If we dont pick anyone fans will say they are not addressing the situation. Defintely a tough spot to be in
What they should have done this year instead of putting up the 10 win season facade.

So how do you feel about evaluating QBs vs. College level talent which all but the very best will not play in NFL preseason.

Not sure I’m understanding your question properly, I’m guessing you are talking about evaluating QBs in college vs guys that won’t be in/make it to the NFL?

The college level talent they are playing is frequently close in caliber...at least in conference games are (teams are also game planning). Obviously can’t take much away from the games where the team basically schedules a bye week (Georgia vs Charlotte/Austin Peay type of games).

Evaluating college QBs I look at a few things: accuracy, mobility, arm strength, throwing under pressure, touch, field vision and whether the QB is improving year after year.

All of these traits are fairly easily to evaluate in college games and I have been able to successfully identify good QBs and busts with pretty good accuracy.

Preseason is just a shell game, hard to take much away in any meaningful way. So many OL blowing assignments, receivers running wrong routes and defenses playing basic ***** stuff.

They won’t draft one “just to draft one”
They have a clear need for their franchise QB
This need has been present for years
The vet retreads have not been working
This draft has several good QB prospects
A massive move up won’t be necessary
They will take a swing, how early the only question

If you think a new GM is going through a 3rd draft without swinging you’re crazy. The only thing that slowed him towards this was getting left KFP by the last GM/HC poor decision.

They’ve been doing the right things trying to get the OL improved and get a few weapons in place. It is an obvious play.

It would be shocking to not see a QB in the first two rounds, and the only way they wait til 2nd is if the board breaks in a certain unlikely way where a can’t miss non QB falls in their lap and the QBs are coming off slow. Then they trade up in the 2nd for their guy. Could even be a trade back into the bottom of the first to get that option year.

Unless Rodgers gets that Lombardi AND decides to run it back, then maybe things change. I’ll gladly eat that plate of crow.

When you are playing against ones in an NFL preseason game you are playing infinetly higher talent then any college games. 7 Crimson Tide players were drafted. Likely three will play in the NFL. That's a premiere NFL Factory team. And yes when you played them many more will come down that pipe. But its imature talent. And yes they are playing vanilla. But its NFL vanilla.j

Here is where my point is. There will be some kinda crop of QB talent next year. And this guy will be the next coming of whoever, but it's just car showroom bullshit. Will Howard looked pretty damn impressive dicing up three big programs in the college playoffs. So why not play him as much as you can now when yeah it doesn't mean much but it is NFL talent. And no one plays football 90 percent. That's how you get hurt. Cause I can guarentee you this. If they end up where most of us think.......18-22 draft pick 3rd or 4th QB off the board. In the back of theirs and everyone else's mind you will be saying is he really better the Howard.
* You are probably looking at Sellars, Mendoza or Allar*

Exactly. It isnt sink or swim for the season here. But if you want to compare Will Howard to next year's crop.......what better possible opportunity are you going to get. Very unlikely the Steelers will be in the Manning kid range should he declare. Or likely not in the range of any of the more sure fire picks without a significant trade up. You will never get better film.
There really isn’t any real info on Manning yet, it’s all hope at this time because of his name. He could look like hell as the starter, you just don’t know.

Pimping anyone should wait till at least the week before the playoffs, maybe not even then.

He's probably going to be at least very good. And with his name that will put him in the top 10. College careers are extremely manufactured.
If he looks less then top 10 he probably stays another year with the NIL cash.
