AB just got paid upfront cash on his 2 years remaining deal.

Good move Pit!

It looks like he gets $4M from next year's base moved to this year. He has a base of $6.25M this year plus $4M Structure bonus = $10.25M for him this year.

By doing this, his cap number should increase by $2M this year.

I am speculating, since I don't see all the numbers. But worst case scenario, our salary cap space dropped by $2M

Nice reward for the hardest working man on the team.

Figured this was coming. Good move. Now, get the man a new contract after this year!

i'll bet that mike wallace would have accepted that offer

so what does this mean regarding our other guys?

Lowers our Cap for this year apparently, so now we will re-sgn DeCastro very soon...

Happy for AB. He's earned every cent. Hope we can get him signed next year to a new deal.

F-in A. They'd be total morons not to address this. Way to go. I am sure AB would have prefered a totally new deal with a ginormous signing bonus, but at least he is not the 20th highest paid WR out there. At least he is pulling down 10 mill so it's not a complete embarrassment.

Next year he gets his big deal.

Good job team. At least they didn't pull out the powerfully lame "We expect him to honor the deal he signed." When Colbert says that (as he did a month ago) he looks like a hypocrite.

Good job, KC and congrats to AB! Now let's go out and break some records

Not really considering they've been taking care of AB in recent years with restructures. Can't put too much, if any stock, in what these guys tell reporters.

Both sides have handled his contract like true pros. AB has shown up to work and went about his business while the Steelers have taken care of him while not breaking their policy.

I'm hoping it buys the Steelers some good will next year when it matters. Maybe he doesnt have to go beyond the stupid amount he will be due.
