AB Requests Trade

Rest easy with the depleted positional concerns, Colbert pretty much said any hole created at WR and RB will need to be addressed. So it isn't like they will sit on ABs departure and do nothing. I fully expect them to restock the position by the draft and free agency.

Colbert also correctly referred to AB as one of the best players in the National Football League, and unlike the overreacting mob on this board, he's not rushing to put Brown on the first plane out of town without attempting to secure adequate compensation.

I think its obvious to anyone paying attention that this is just a money grab... Brown was trying to get cut because right after signing the extension the value of wrs went up significantly... precident has been set with Harrison and blount that if you act bad, they dump you...

To prove a point I wouldn’t get rid of him for anything less than a spectacular offer... even if he holds out that means twice in a row you don’t cave to players trying to ***** their way to more money and maybe it closes that door for the future... and teams looking to get a stud wr eventually will pony up value if they think thats the only way to get him...

AB is back on ESPN talking like he has no brain cells left. Oh boy!

You only want to sign a free agent that has been cut. Otherwise it will mess up the comp formula.

Who else are they going to sign besides FAs? Since you can't sign players who are under contract with other teams. BTW in order to be a FA you either were cut OR your contract ran out.

If you're trying to get a free agent comp pick for Bell, signing someone like John Brown who has an expired contract could potentially offset the loss of Bell. Whereas signing someone like Michael Crabtree who was released would not affect your comp pick math.

I assume we're attempting to get a third for Bell so, yeah, it absolutely matters what type of FA you sign.

Whats he saying????

It's going to air on ESPN over the weekend I think they said. He is trying to say what Colbert said about Ben and 52 children or siblings is exactly what he was talking about. No respect, he said. Just dumb ****. Should be interesting to see the entire interview.

The “comp” picks formula seems to be complicated due to me (and others) not knowing very much about it. If possible could someone give a good clean simple explanation of it?

Dumb ****, definitely but even more dumber **** by taking it to the degree Big Titties is taking it. His ego will never let you win. If he is attacking the hand that feeds him is just proof as to how ******* ignorant he really is. How long ago was the meeting with the owner? How long could he keep his mouth shut............???

That has nothing to do with whether they are cut or not. The picks are selected by the amount of FAs lost and gained. Salary is the most determinate measure. So if they signed Crabtree to a ton of money he would off set Bell. Him being released has nothing to do with the Steelers signing him.

I’ve done some in-depth research on the comp formula and it is purposely vague in writing that’s available to the masses.

Basically, the formula takes into account the team’s FA who signs a contract elsewhere and the disproportionate FA contract amounts signed by the team within the specified timeframe. Additionally, on FAs whose contracts expired and were not resigned by the original team are factored into the formula. If a player was waived and/or their contract terminated their status as a street free agent is not included in the formula’s calculation.

An example would be Bell gets a 4 year contract worth 60 mil. 40 mil guaranteed. KC cuts Justin Houston and is signed by Pitt (that would be great move IMO) for 3 years 30 mil. 12 guaranteed. Houston’s contract would not be used in the company formula since he was a cut player.

However, if John Brown was signed to a 2 year 4 mil contract, that would be used in the comp formula. This is due to the fact he was a true street free agent, and not a waiver/cut player.

Snap counts, incentives and contract structure also are mysteriously included in the formula, which I have yet been able to find literature on.

Players released by their previous teams aren't included in the compensatory-pick formula.

This whole thing is a nightmare. Huge talent leaves, we pay 21 million and for what is likely the type of picks you describe.

If it comes down to nothing better than a 3rd or 4th, keep him and force him to play or give you back money with his holdout. There's just no reason to give up 21 million dollars and not get anything out of it.

Yeah. You're wrong on this. Do some research.

Thanks Ike for the explanation.............

Here is a kind of what it's about article. Mr. Big titties needs to toughen up a little. Trying to place all his actions blame on this.

Yeah, even if you had a beef with Ben and everything is the way you say, why would you walk out on the other 51 guys that are counting on you? To me, that dog won't hunt.

AB talks about this being about respect, yet he is the one that shows no respect. Sure, he is a hard worker throughout the year. No one is disputing that. But, during camp, he completely disrespects everyone (teammates, coaches and staff) by doing his own thing and having a rental house. You don't hear of Ben or anyone else doing that. He also shows no respect by continually missing meetings or showing up late. He has become such a whiny little *****.
