My grandmother (depression era) got to the 8th grade when she was made to work on the farm to help keep the family going. She could balance a checkbook like nobody's business throughout her life. Had excellent penmanship too so she must've received a great little education those 8 grades.
Anyways, I get your point. Athletes (and especially athletes on scholarships) get very little oversight & help with their education.
