Insanely good? Really?
In Rogers best year as a pro when he almost set the record for passer rating in 2011, his line was Marshall Newhouse (Rookie 5th rounder), T.J. Lang (4th rounder), Scott Wells (7th rounder), Josh Sitton (4th rounder) and Bryan Bulaga (2nd season, 1st rounder). Rogers took 50 sacks in 2009 and 51 sacks in 2012 and both seasons went 11-5 with about a 105 QB rating.
You see a hall-of-famer in that group? I don't. Insanely good my ***. He's played with average O-line play most of his career.
There have been lots of good offensive line units in the NFL that get average play at quarterback behind them. And maybe a great offensive line guarantees at least AVERAGE quarterback play. In the 10th-16th range.
But getting into the elite quarterback play that Rogers put up in his career is on him. And it's ALL on him. This bullshit that coaches and systems and good talent around them make quarterbacks really great is just that. Bullshit. To get to that level takes work, dedication, an insane amount of talent and just being "special" that doesn't come around all that often.
If it was as easy as getting an O-line together and maybe a RB and WR, then you would see elite seasons from QB's all the time, from all sorts of QB's with different names. That's just not the case. Almost year-in, year-out the same names just keep popping up at producing points, efficiency, and wins. And most of the time when wins aren't happening it's because the QB/coach think their **** doesn't stink and they get full of themselves and forget it's a team game.
Rogers is a sure fire hall-of-famer and maybe more impressive a top-10 QB ever to play the game. You couldn't throw like him behind a good offensive line in a million dreams.
