I dont like or dislike the guy. But the Packers are talking about the appropriate time to retire his jersey number. I would think never would be the answer. He wanted out. he chose another team.

stop issuing the number if you want to, but don't give him the honor of a retirement ceremony.

Yes off season topic

Agreed. But they definitely should wait until he’s retired- imagine they retire his number while he’s still playing and he ends up beating them to win the Super Bowl. Not that I’m saying it’s likely to happen.

I don’t care for Rogers, he seems full of himself and to have issues, being estranged from his family and all.

Rodgers is one of my least favorite players of all time, but he makes for a great interview with Pat McAfee. He gets away with more on that show than Ben ever could on his radio show.

Meh, enough HOF worthy Steelers left under less than great terms yet i dont think any of them should be unworthy of future Steelers honors…

Like James Harrison, for example…

Parades, super bowl anniversaries, team honors yes.

Individual honors like a number retirement? Nope. Love the guy, but nope

My answer is directly responsive to if they are serving both regular and peppered BACON at the ceremony ?

Not a big fan of retiring numbers. Eventually a team will no longer be able to do it and nobody will remember the players with retired numbers. Sad but true.

Cheese and Rice………………………

At the rate my beloved STEELERS retire numbers, My Great / Great / Great / Great / Great grandkids will be able to still fill a complete roster….

The dynasty cheating GOAT ****-ing dick heads didn’t even have enough GREAT players to fill the HOF yet alone retire to many jersey’s.

I think maybe Watson will get his jersey retired for the browns………….. the little elf one that is……..

All I can say is..
There have been maybe a dozen or so qbs that I would stop channel surfing and watch them play..
He is one of them..

Franco, Webster, and Bradshaw have been inducted into the hall of honor, as has Rod Woodson… all had less than amicable ends to their careers here. You cant really begrudge how players deal with tge tail ends of their careers… just celebrate what they did when they were with you

32 (RIP) was retired and he played for seattle at the end of his career IIRC.

I dont think Rodgers did enough to have his no. retired... but I am not a packer fan.

But none of those guys had thier number retired. That is huge. Just don't issue the number.
Retiring a number is basically saying this is our guy. No one else's. MEAN Joe status

I like Rodgers and I do feel like GB shafted him a few times. They didnt draft him weapons and then traded away Adams leaving him w/ poor WR cores. He is definitely a very quirky guy, but I think he has a good sense of humor. Just because he is estranged from his family does not mean anything. Maybe his family did not treat him very well because he had different beliefs. Who knows what went on behind the scenes. As for retiring his # I can understand it, but really dont care either way. He was a very good and exciting player and did get a SB win putting up 300+ yrds and a almost 150 QB rating.....

I think the NFL should allow a third digit for jersey numbers

Casey woulda looked great as 908
A jersey worthy of retirement

Then a team can have more than 47 players worthy of jersey number retirement and all those pretty good players can get their participation trophies too

Can you imagine James Harrison showing up for his participation trophy ?

Three digit jersey numbers……….. reminds me of the old XFL where they allowed ”slogan like” names on the backs
with “He Hate Me” being one of the more famous ones…….

I. Could see one in the current NFL——— “I should have been picked in the 1st”

or

“1st rnd talent
3rnd draft”

” I’m Mr. Relevant”

EDIT: The QB wearing #12 jersey “I Cheat”

Talking about the weapons, I am interested to see what happens with Patrick Mahomes in KC. There's been a drain on wide receivers and while they've acquired Toney and Moore, I don't think either player is that special. What happens when Reid and Kelce retire and Mahomes is sitting as the 10th highest paid QB, sitting $20 million per year behind the top guy, who is less talented, with another 5 years left on his ridiculous contract?

By the time this happens to Mahomes the happy ending massage king experiment in Cleveland will be over. They will send their next 5 first round picks to KC and sign him to a guaranteed 500 million contract. Where he will happily spend(and collect) his last few years in the NFL.
Such is life as a Browns fan.
