The kickoff is boring only because it too often results in a touchback, otherwise it is the most exciting play in football.
 
I like what the AAF is doing. College payers who don't make the NFL due to lack of talent or the need to develop more can say, okay they are giving each player a 3 year $250,000 contract. Now I can pursue my dream and see what happens.


We will see some success stories, and the NFL will be taking notes on what's working. I have a hunch the sky judge will become part of NFL football.

There will be a ninth member of the officiating crew called a “SkyJudge,” who will sit in the press box and “use real-time technology to correct clear errors involving player safety anytime during a game, and pass interference inside of five minutes left in the fourth quarter,”
 
So is this league supposed to be a quasi minor league for the NFL?

Reason I ask is because the Hotshots game will be aired live on the NFL network.

Seems kind of weird.

Also saw Steeler washouts Brad Wing, Mettenberger, Josh Frazier, Doran Grant, Travis Feeney, & Terence Garvin on these rosters. Wonder why the extraordinary Dri Archer wasn't signed?

I agree this should be a good place for someone who has good athleticism, but needs more polishing to get a chance.
 
I know it’s on CBS tomorrow night, but are the rest of the games only on CBS sports network or is there another way to watch?

I think if he would have held his cool and NOT gone all off the team and bide his time on the PS,...... He'd have been in a good situation and STILL a STEELERS player. By now he would be contributing as a possible #3 / #4.

Yes and no. College football is the #1 pipeline to the NFL. However, with a decline in high school ball participation, the NFL can use an extra source of players. I actually think the NFL could find as many or more players than the NBA has in Europe. Just fund American football in some of the poorer European nations, and which big kid with athletic ability that cannot play soccer won't accept a college scholarship. Let their largest colleges play college football on a non-power five level and see what happens.


I like the AAF because it can take risks and teach the NFL a few things. Give me football the way it used to be...please. If you want to limit kickoffs, how about this?!


On a touchdown, you must kick the ball off from the 20-yard line. Show the fans some returns. A field goal, okay the other team gets the ball on their 25.


If the NFL is really serious about concussions, just force anyone who has one to sit out TWO games. Dress all 53 men, and bring back kickoffs the way they used to be.

I have good news for you Coolie, soon I might be as hard to find as Ayers on the weekdays! Coach is taking a promotion at work, and my new role which starts at the end of the month has me removed from an office and on the floor overseeing a bunch of people with no office. My old boss, who gave me the news over a nice lunch and let me do whatever the heck I wanted to because I was his #1 or #2 producer joked you'll have to get your NFL news somewhere else.


While I'll miss posting a bit, this is a career move for my family. So call it a win for me, and others who think I post too much. I think I'll aim for better content but less posting overall.


Good luck to you boy Ayers, and if you're following the NFL draft, I think you'll be busy doing other things too after Oliver isn't picked in the top ten of the 2019 draft :)

I've got a Mike Vick scumbag story. A friend of mine was Hawaii on vacation in and happened to be staying at the hotel where some of the players were for the Pro Bowl. Vick arrived with a large thug like entourage and demanded to be served first, before the others in line. His friends were loud and drunk. They trashed the hotel and left a tip of zero dollars. Vick also stiffed them. The poor maids, bell boys, and Room service people were working their rear ends off, as Mike promised something special if he and his people were treated right. When Peyton Manning heard of this, he covered all expenses and invited the people to his suite for an apology, which included autographs and pictures.

Had no idea Troy and Hines were involved with this. I am sure I will watch a game or two and if I like it, I might try to catch a game in Orlando.

Yep. They are both respectively Executive and Director of Player Development. Hines on the field and Troy off the field.

I look at this league as a test ground for making up new rules for the NFL. I'm genuinely excited for the next round the the XFL as I think they're more interested in developing an exciting game for the fans.
