A possible solution in Syria

I will bet a case of beer the whole lot of you currently cheering on Putin and Russia will be changing your tune in the near future. I get it, you guys love Putin much like you love Trump, the commonalities are clear between the two. If I was you, I'd be much more careful bedding down with Putin though, his intentions are hazy at best, lest we forget him marching into Crimea/Ukraine and Georgia along with the decades old clamp down on democracy back home. I consider the situation far more dramatic and unpredictable than those of you cheering on Russian military belligerance at this point. I'm not even sure I understand it (so-called conservatives hoo-hawing over Putin), besides the lazy Trump comparison. I guess the mirage is of a loud-mouthed bellicose leader that's gonna show the limp-dick commie muslim Obama how it's done. Batshit crazy, that's what I call it. Have your day in the sun applauding Russia's aggresive Middle East manuevering, just make sure you come back here and man up if things turn ugly. If - all of the sudden - it's our troops that will be facing off with the Russian-Iranian-Syrian enemy. I wonder how many of you will be deleting some of your posts on this forum retroactively. Some of you guys, particularly with miltary backgrounds, never cease to amaze me.

The thing that people are cheering is that Putin is destroying Islamic terror groups rather than creating them like Obama did by encouraging the "Arab Spring" and arming "moderate Muslims" like the Obama Regime. Personally I would prefer we allow the Russians and Europeans to take the lead on this since they are the ones who will be most effected by the Muslims. We really don't have to worry until ISIS gets a navy.

The UN will be issuing a sternly worded statement soon.

but not to the terrorists

NATO tells Russia to halt Syria air strikes

NATO demanded Monday that Russia stop its air strikes against targets in Syria, days after Moscow began bombing raids that it says are intended to support the Assad government.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said in a statement that “Russia’s actions are not contributing to the security and stability of the region,” calling on Russia to “fully respect NATO airspace and to avoid escalating tensions with the Alliance.

Putin's fearsome Spetsnaz units are preparing ground assault to 'wipe out' rebels

Russia has sent fearsome teams of special forces into Syria to help prop up President Bashar Al Assad, it has been reported. Vladimir Putin's crack Spetsnaz units are said to be preparing a ground assault on rebels fighting the Syrian President – most of whom are backed by the West. They have been ordered to wipe out opponents 'by any means'.

I think you read far too much into it. Americans like a President who shows fortitude, guts, a sense of power, and leadership. Putin does these things. I think many if not most of us don't agree with much of what he does.

Contrarily, we typically don't like panzy-*** pussified people leading us. This is Bammy.

Liberals would like to have Jane Fonda as their President, kissing the feet of our enemies, singing kumbaya and trusting that "Happy Happy Joy Joy" will solve all of the world's problems.

Putin "resonates." That doesn't mean we agree with him. He just has a set of balls, and that is admirable. Our President is still looking for someone he can rent a pair from.

I see no reason to object to Russia thinning the Muslim Jihadi herd

My greatest hope is for Russia to quagmire itself in Syria, sapping it's finances and resources. I hope they aggressively pursue ISIS, and put the hurt on them. I hope this new offensive attracts every mentally defective jihadist in the world, and exterminating them.

In the meantime, I hope we elect a President that demands the respect of world leaders.
This can be a win-win.

Russia Fires Missiles From Warships

Russian missiles 'hit IS in Syria from Caspian'

Russia has launched rocket strikes on Islamic State targets in Syria from its warships in the Caspian Sea, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu says.

Mr Shoigu was quoted by Russian media as saying four warships launched 26 sea-based cruise missiles on 11 targets, destroying them.

President Putin praised the Russian military, saying the targets were about 1,500km (932 miles) away.

Russia maintains that it is fighting a war against extremists, including the Islamic State and al Qaeda. It has denounced the United States and its European and Arab allies for seeking the removal of Assad, saying their blasé tendency to topple regimes that fall out of favor is condemning the Middle East and North Africa to a future consumed by chaos.

I'm not so sure I can disagree.

of course if the Russkies decide to take over Iraq for us then the oilfields and pipelines would lead straight from Iraq to Syria, and of course then Russia and Iran would tap it

nice plan

who gonna stop it?

One Mystery solved, how ISIS gets their Toyotas - US State Dept has been buying them pick-up trucks

Hilux_FSA_.jpg

The Hilux, a pickup truck Toyota has built since the late 1960s, isn't available in the US, but it's popular around the globe, including with insurgent groups such as the Taliban, al-Qaeda and Boko Haram.

Recently, when the US State Department resumed sending non-lethal aid to Syrian rebels, the delivery list included 43 Toyota trucks.

Hiluxes were on the Free Syrian Army's wish list. Oubai Shahbander, a Washington-based advisor to the Syrian National Coalition, is a fan of the truck.

"Specific equipment like the Toyota Hiluxes are what we refer to as force enablers for the moderate opposition forces on the ground," he adds. Shahbander says the US-supplied pickups will be delivering troops and supplies into battle. Some of the fleet will even become battlefield weapons.

"You can absolutely expect for many of those trucks to be mounted with crew-served machine guns or other type of equipment, military equipment, that the opposition forces have access to. I mean, that's one of the reasons why the Toyota Hilux is such an important force multiplier, because it could be used both for humanitarian purposes and for operational purposes as well."

Exactly the way wars need to be fought.......bet the Russian ROE list is pretty short.

Russia just handed ISIS a 'big win' in Syria's largest city

http://www.businessinsider.com/russia-just-handed-isis-a-big-win-in-syrias-largest-city-2015-10

The terror group ISIS made gains near Syria's largest city in the last 24 hours, indirectly aided by Russian airstrikes that drove other groups out.

ISIS militants seized five villages on the northern edge of Aleppo, putting them within 1 mile of territory held by the Syrian regime, Reuters reports.

Russian airstrikes in the area reportedly killed hundreds of anti-regime rebels, many of whom ISIS (also known as the Islamic State, ISIL, and Daesh) were also fighting.

"Daesh has exploited the Russian air strikes and the preoccupation of the (rebel) Free Syrian Army in its battles in Hama, and advanced in Aleppo," one rebel commander told Reuters.

Hassan Hassan, an expert on Syria who recently co-authored the book "ISIS: Insider the Army of Terror," told Business Insider that ISIS' gains near Aleppo are a "big win."

"I’m sure ISIS has sleeper cells in Aleppo," Hassan said. "If they pushed, if they held their ground then that would be … a big win for them.

"They could actually establish a foothold inside Aleppo and it also helps them to make more progress in Hama," another key city in western Syria.

That's an easy problem to solve, bomb the **** out of Aleppo. You shouldn't get so stressed about these things.

Putin is in for control because Obama was weak. Putin has no worries about what the press might say, so we can wage war without protests.

Short term, I like what he is doing in Syria.

Why would Russia do such a thing? ISIS is quite useful for both the Russians and the Syrians.

You shouldn't get so stressed about these things.
I'm not stressed "about these things." I'm stressed that so many so-called patriotic American conservatives let themselves get bamboozled by Vladimir Putin.
