We were sucked in to believing this season would be special. But why did we fall for it?
*The offensive line is slow and soft and completely incapable of creating holes for the running game or sealing blocks for 3-3.5 seconds to allow receivers to get down field.
*Running backs are not a talented group, even Chubbs or Cook wouldn't thrive with this line.
*Ben is through. It pains me to say it. He no longer can extend plays by scrambling, he's not seeing the field when under pressure and generally is no longer accurate.
*The wide receivers are hugely overrated. Poor route runners, weak hands, and outside of Ju-Ju, lousy blockers.
*The defense is unpredictable and Haden gets toasted nearly every down field pass play. ILB's get easily manhandled creating big running plays.
*Coaching at all levels and positions is woefully inept and predictable.

This is my first post and to some it may seem harsh but it's how I see it.
Merry Christmas Steeler Nation.

Happy to be winning doesn't constitute being suckered. Everyone has been bitching for weeks about some of the very points you mentioned.

The offense and defense were legitimately playing at a high level early in the season. We weren't suckered in, the team just faltered.

While I certainly won't argue that the O weren't playing at a higher level earlier, do you really not believe it's recent failures is not because of other teams watching of film, adapting and blowing it up? I mean to be honest that short quick passing game started with Mason & the duck last year. Do people really forget how inept our O was last year? Teams started sitting on it last season too.

It stayed the same with Ben. Teams respected his past glory, but now are sitting on this same **** O scheme.
Unfortunately with no Oline, running game,& and let's face it an old looking QB it's time to retool.
Let's hope there's a little spark left in the remainder of this season.

The offense was different. We had a lot of the Canada influence. The ground game was a bit more effective than it was when they abandoned it. They slowly transitioned from a high scoring offense to a limited one and it caught up to them starting with the Ravens. It's now the easiest to defend offense in the entire league.

2 things to debunk this garbage:

1. COVID rescheduling. NFL literally broke CBA with 2nd time.

2. Injuries. This isn’t team that started season by a long stretch.

Even when we were 11-0 I figured we'd lost in the first round of the playoffs. I've said for years that is simply Tomlin's ceiling.

I hear ya. Who knows how different shades' legacy would've played out if it wasn't for the leftover Cowher players that he inherited. They retained enough Cowher discipline and knowledge to win the big one.

Tomlin is the biggest sucker job of all. He was exposed long ago, but more people really should have clued in after Jacksonville debacle at home after Shades crowed about the Pats for weeks.

While I realize that the Pats****** cheat and we're like 3-13 against Belicheat and Br*dy, it's worth remembering that Shades has never beaten them in a game that mattered.

A horrible trick was played, I opened this thread

This thread is just like when I was a little kid seeing the bounty of presents under a tree on Christmas Eve and the parents let you open 1 gift, just 1...and it’s an Effin sweater to wear to church tomorrow...thanks Pop

I hear yaz Ron and I said at the beginning of the season that unless we reach the AFCCG this season would be a fail. Maybe I set the standard to high as to expecting more than ONE post season win with the talent this team has.........

I agree with this, except for the COVID Rescheduling. We were showing the cracks before the Ravens game. People were using the excuse of playing three games in 12 days before we had even played one - and we did get an unexpected bye over Thanksgiving.

I do agree that injuries have decimated the team. Say “next man up” all you want, but you can’t continue to lose high quality starters and replace them with back-up players and maintain the same level of production. They’re back-up players for a reason.

They actually did not get a bye over Thanksgiving as they were practicing as if there would be a game. That means they did not get the rest/treatments they would have received during a normal bye week. They sure as heck didn't get the 4 days off during a bye that's mandated by the CBA. I don't remember, but I don't think they got that during the Titans fiasco either.

Merry Christmas, Pops.

Bwahahahaha....I suppose you think that ' blast from the past' was funny........well, it was kinda.

This team has 3 more games left this season, maybe they'll surprise us, but at least it won't affect me if they don't.

Buffalo, I can understand, they're a quality team, The Football Team and Bungles not so much.

Football is entertainment, nothing more, and if they can't do that, then there are better things to do with my time.

At least we'll all know by the first offensive series on Sunday.

Even when they played well the first offensive series often was an experiment in seeing what the other team was doing. So the first series won't show us ****. The outcome of the game is what will be more telling as if they will get back on track or continue their nosedive.
