A dick move by Brown?

Maybe this was talked about and I missed it, just heard about it on the radio yesterday. The Dapper Dan award is given out every year to Pittsburgh athletes, and Brown was voted Sportsman of the Year. The people that organize the event checked with Brown so they picked a date he could attend, so they planned it around him, and he no showed on them, then the next week he's front and center at the UFC event in Pittsburgh. That's a big time dick move in my opinion.

FIRST of all if you take any stock in what the LOCAL radio stations say you need your head examined ..

The announcement that he got this award was on Jan 31 ... and I GUARANTEE the date for the event was decided WAY before then. Since it was at the convention center I am sure it was BOOKED LAST YEAR . And how do I know that -- I have work for events like this that are yearly -- they are always book in advanced .

SO to imply that they organized the event around him is RIDICULOUS -- I am sure they knew he could not attend. He got the same award last year and was there -- you can find images on him and his family from that night ..

so quit trying to make something out of nothing ..

There could be any number of reasons he couldn't attend. Bit harsh labeling it a dick move when you have no information as to why he didn't attend.

What he did the following weekend has no relevance whatsoever. What? He missed an event the week before so should stay sheltered in his home for the next month? The guys got a life of his own to live.

2. He no showed, and no one has heard a reason, maybe he was sick, or whatever. I would think he would come out and say why he couldn't make it.

Oh well he plays for the Steelers, so they can all be ********, I forgot that part. Where did I ever say he shouldn't have a life? It's a pretty big honor that involves several charities, Bettis, Ward, Mario, etc are all past winners, so it's not like Ross Township was giving him a nice guy trophy or something and he wasn't there.

I never said they were perfect, just bringing it up for discussion purposes, it is the off season and there is no on the field **** going on. Just makes him look bad when they schedule an event around his schedule and he still no shows.

your post implied that he was a jerk because he skipped the event. Why does he have to JUSTIFY why he wasn't there .. If they asked and he said he couldn't be there then that should have been enough -- AGAIN they did not schedule it around him the date was set A LONG TIME AGO .. There were OTHERs that were being honored ... the chances of ALL of them being available on the same day is nuts .

AGAIN I also state that the local media LOVES to stir the pot -- which shows did you hear it on . Slow news day .. lets stir up something that will cause people to talk.

What he does on the field affects me because I am a fan of the team he plays for. So when I watch my team or him play it does have a temporary affect on me. What he does off the field has zero impact on me or you. Thats my point. Getting your panties in a bunch about something he does on the field seems legit. Off the field not so much to me unless it impacts his ability to be on the field.

I just brought that up, to show he had no problem being in town for that, yes they were different weeks, I didn't mean for it to sound as if he picked one over the other.

The thread title is Dick move? Asking a question what everyone thought or if anyone else heard about it. I started the thread, of course I'm going to reply to it, I don't need people telling me what I should think, or people telling me I have a hidden agenda or I need my head examined, that's who the cry baby comment was directed at.
I don't think Brown is a dick, but that doesn't mean he can't make a dick move does it? If Ben is rude to waiter/waitresses and low balls them on tips, that is a dick move as well, but that doesn't make him a dick.

Tom . stop being so sensitive . You said it was a dick move .. OK .. but the fact is no one else thought it was. I do not listen to DVE but just because they are the so called Steeler FLag ship station does not make the information true .

All I did was point out that events are NOT scheduled within weeks of an announcement . The events are planned MONTHS in advance . There are a lot of preparations that go into charity auctions. Because I did them for the Tommy Maddox Foundation. I have also worked with the American Heart Association on their Heart Ball event.

It is not something you put together in weeks and there is NO way that they could make the date of the event based on the availability of the winners .

I have only one more thing to say on this subject .. you could have saved your self a lot of grief if you would have just thought about your post before you made it. We are all entitled to our opinions but when someone points out reasons why your information could be BOGUS does not mean we don't like your opinion -- just that the FACTS that caused you to form your opinion could have been WRONG ..
