Maybe this was talked about and I missed it, just heard about it on the radio yesterday. The Dapper Dan award is given out every year to Pittsburgh athletes, and Brown was voted Sportsman of the Year. The people that organize the event checked with Brown so they picked a date he could attend, so they planned it around him, and he no showed on them, then the next week he's front and center at the UFC event in Pittsburgh. That's a big time dick move in my opinion.

I thought he did attend but if he didn't, that is definitely a bad move.

Brown has proven that he is one of the hardest working players in the offseason.

If he wants to skip out on boring events (Dapper Dan) in place of more entertaining events (UFC), then more power to him.

I didn't see where he skipped it? Do you have a link or anything?

The UFC thing was a week later so i don't think it relates. If he skipped one to goto the other then thats different. I don't think it's a big deal

He's starting to appear a little prima donna-ish: this, the cube in his haircut. But he is flat out amazing so I will live with it.

I don't know, I have yet to have heard anything on it.

Yes, if true and IF he committed to it, it's a douche bag moment.

I'll wait to see something regarding the no-show somewhere in media land.

If he truly said yes, this is the date and I WILL ATTEND, then he let them down. If they just attentively set a date, then I'm sorry it didn't work out. Scheduling is hard, even at best. How far in advance was the date set??? Things can change but depending on the thing(s) severity as to weather he gets a pass or not. I hope if he did miss, it was for a justifiable reason. Antonio doesn't strike me as someone to just blow off his word. I realize I don't know him personally, but that is my perception of him. GREAT high light reel.......

not when they checked with him BEFORE setting and date.

I just brought that up, to show he had no problem being in town for that, yes they were different weeks, I didn't mean for it to sound as if he picked one over the other.

And before anybody goes crazy and thinks I'm suggesting fining, benching, cutting, etc., etc. I'm not, he's a great player, just really a dick move IMO. I don't have a link, but I heard it on 3 different radio stations in Pittsburgh.

What??? He said he was honored.

Really though, wow. Watching that video, there is no WR I'd rather have on my team. He is amazing.

I also saw some AMAZING throws in that video. Give it up for Big Ben also!!!

I don't think you understand. He's the honoree, he was expected to give a speech, etc. it's also a huge charity event.

I went a few years ago when Hines Ward and Andrew McCutcheon were there and Brown was there for that. I don't know who I was sitting with, but I had a table next to the red carpet and when Dan Rooney was being introduced, he stopped, said hello and shook the guys hand that was sitting at my table.

I got ya.

I was just imagining one of those 'NFL Award' type deals where he just goes up for his award and does a 30 sec speech.

There could be any number of reasons he couldn't attend. Bit harsh labeling it a dick move when you have no information as to why he didn't attend.

What he did the following weekend has no relevance whatsoever. What? He missed an event the week before so should stay sheltered in his home for the next month? The guys got a life of his own to live.

it's dumb because you want to keep hometown media happy and your side.HoF and all that.

Yes, with absolutely nothing but speculation to go on this is a non story... first of all IMO awards like DD are self gratifying poppycock and the local papers give too much credit to it, so my perspective is always going to be off, but still even if it was important in some way, lets say he skipped it for a family thing that came up late... well that's 100% justified, so it would be if he were sick, or something else of real importance came up...

If Brown committed to the event and then bailed it is a complete dick move, but if not then it is what it is. There is a point when you can't do it all. From his Snapchat, I gathered that he was in Miami or somewhere vacationing prior to returning to Pittsburgh.

Scheduling is hard, even at best.

Not for him in the offseason, it isn't. Dude does not work 9:00 to 6:00 in the offseason (like the rest of us), so whatever he had going that evening could be put off to another day, or another week.

Trade Antonio!

Sike:joyous:

Sounds like some here would like it to come to that.................... I don't know his schedule or personal commitments....... If he blew them off, SHAME on him....... If he didn't make it due to a forgivable or urgent excuse, SHAME on those who are above the social law.

I glad I live under rules that what these guys do off the field has zero effect on my life. If it doesn't affect his chances of suiting up on Sundays who cares??
