2nd 3rd Round Pick - Everette

Why not take OG Pregnon there! I believe he played LG in college and is rated as the 2nd best OG in the draft. I know nothing about Everette, but Pregnon was the better talent here I feel.

He played a lot of snaps in college, and I believe is only 21. He has good speed and size. Everything I've read so far is he is yet another legit potential steal. He can play outside and nickel. Good pick.

I got nothing on this pick. Hope he's good.

As a UGA fan I’m on the fence
Will be dependent on what schemes they deploy

He takes some chances, probably a result of his speed, willing tackler too

He definitely has size and athleticism

Hard to say the fit since we have little clue in what the defensive scheme will actually become

He is pretty solid in run support and a proper nfl coaching staff will able to utilize his skillset.

I can see a solid career for him as a safety. A bit of a modern Lee Flowers perhaps.

I had that same thought, that he may be a future safety in the making.

Think it gives us some outside/boundary insurance to pair with Dean if JPJ is too crazy expensive and some depth insurance as well for the now.

Just saw his RAS score was 34th out of almost 3100 DBs since 1987
As a matter of interest where does the RAS score of the best and worst defensive backs since 1987 sit? I.e. is there a correlation (or even better, a causation) between RAS score and DB performance in the NFL?

That seems like a valid point. Watched a bit, seemed like a physical, violent kinda guy on the interior. I guess they figured they covered their bases with Anderson, Cook, and Hoffman. I don’t think you’ll ever get a rationalization on there thinking patterns for anything.

If you know nothing about Everette on what basis do you feel Pregnon was the better talent? It appears Pregnon's athleticism (flexibility, balance and lateral movement) isn't the best amongst the top guard prospects.

I had trouble finding good info about DBs, but over 80% of pro bowl DBs have a RAS over 8.0 and the top DBs RAS ranked in the 80th percentile or above in their perspective draft classes. I found a chart that had most positions ranked, but oddly WR and DB were not on them. In other positions it seemed roughly 75 to 80% of pro bowlers had very high RAS scores. The one outlier position was QB.

This is the most intriguing pick for me honestly. Can't explain exactly why, maybe is because CB is probably one of the hardest positions to scout and that I don't know if they want him as a projected free safety or is he seen as boundary or Nickel?

Most as in the majority of his snaps came as a boundary corner. I presume that is where they will look at him first..

He does have solid man-press traits
Sometimes takes risks and can be faked out at the top of routes, very problematic if no help over the top.

In many ways I see a similar skill set to JPJ, but a better tackler by far
