I know this is part of the 100 year marketing, but don’t know if that many should be used. Seems it would take away from the select few that normally goes in.

Can you imagine the length of the ceremony?

Would love to see LC, Shell, Hines, and Troy, but not this way.

Any additional slots for the anniversary should be dedicated to those who slipped through the cracks. Shell, Greenwood, Alan Page of the Vikings etc.

It should but they will continue trying not to vote Steelers in.

Doesn't bother me. Put 50 in for all I care.

I hope not. 20 people would water down the standard of excellence.

hinews should be in by now troy and ed should be in same class

The Hall of Fame is already watered down with some of the names getting in recently. I do hope this would open the door for some very deserving Steelers.

Warren Sapp to name one, yet there are many others as well.

Clear the backlog of players that deserve to get in but haven’t yet (like Faneca) so that we can move on and actually let people in who deserve it earlier

The more discussion I hear and read is only 5 modern era (the normal selection) and 10 inductees from the Senior Committee. 3 contributors (GMs/Owners) and 2 coaches. Senior Committee voters handle the players who have been eligible for a long time (30-40 years) but never made the first or second cut.

I think GM's have been unrepresented in the Pro football hall of fame, as they are equally as important as the head coach. You could say there have been some GM/Head coaches, or some owner/GM's in the past, but I think the title should stand on its own, and it's been that way for a while.

10 senior's in one year would be a bit much.

If any Steeler is overdue its Donnie Shell. A prototype of the hard-hitting strong safety, Shell has 51 interceptions and 19 fumble recoveries. This combined with a 14-year career, 4 super bowl rings, 5 pro bowls ( 3 all pro
s ) should rate middle of the pack or better in comparison to the other DB's in Canton.

So what's the problem?

If TO got it, anyone can get in.

There are easily 20 well deserved backlogged historical players. That would water down nothing. I think they will still only allow 5 from the current class and just pull 15 historical players in. That would be a good way to highlight the history of the league anyway.

If all of them were to get in, who cares about the other 16. The other 16 might be watered down candidates, but these 4 are deserving in any class.

Exactly. Besides, a visit to Canton is a snoozer anyway.

I still don't understand how the KC Chiefs have 6 defensive players from thier 1969 team that only won one Super Bowl or Championship win and the Steel Curtain only has 4.

LC and Donnie definitely deserve to get in and long overdo, and Troy should be a first ballot inductee.
Faneca was a great player and he should have already been inducted.
Hines I’m afraid will have to wait and may go through the same crap as LC and Donnie.

I'd be fine with a one time 20 player group. The backlog is very big at the moment.

Ward is a HOFer. Never was a receiver like him, and never will be.

Cope, what about Donny Shell? Who deserves more, Ward or Shell????

That is a tough choice I'd say.

I agree with Ike. Both are HOFers. Shell should have been in 20 years ago. I don't understand the safety bias for the HOF. They get treated like ST kickers when they are eligible, but Shell's stats are undeniable. Tied for 26th all time in interceptions. That and 5 pro bowls / 4 All pros and 4 SB rings should get you in the hall.
