I never said Edmunds was the right player, just that the other two may have been the wrong player. The Steelers obviously saw something in Edmunds that they liked, considering they passed over the guys you liked. It’s not a hard concept to grasp.
Edmunds is probably the weak link among the stating defenders. I understand the Steelers liked Edmunds. Still trying to figure out why. There was some talk Edmunds could be the dime linebacker by the coaches. That was something they thought could fit. Nope. Not even close.
Your suggestion that the Steelers felt the other two were the wrong players for them is just that...we don’t know. Only that they felt Edmunds was better.
I still can not get over they had a first round grade on Rudolph. To me that’s tough to grasp!
I’m very happy with the DB’s right now. 3 of the starting 4 were acquired in free agency and out top nickel back was a rookie free agent.
Maybe the Steelers should not draft DB’s in rounds 1-3. Just buy them in free agency or trade for them. Focus scouting elsewhere.
The trouble is you can’t really get a franchise Qb in free agency.
Burns, Davis, Edmunds, and that really small corner they took in round two who never played a down ( can’t think of his name right now ). All bad picks in round one or two that I flat out did not like. The guys I liked and I said who taken later are just better nfl players.
With a team of professional scouts, access to isolation films fans can only dream of and private interviews / access to character reports fans don’t see they should be much better.
