2018-19 Penguins and NHL Offseason

What pisses me off is that Ticktetmaster and most of the other 3rd party ticket vendors have bumped their fees. Add that to the Pens raising ticket prices next year. An already expensive hobby is getting worse. I don't like paying more when the quality of play is in decline and likely will continue to be.

I say the same. 1st round team.
If they do win round 1. I'll be pretty impressed. Talent is too jumbled around the lines.

Been pleased with Gudbranson and JJ finally playing decent hockey
 
Gudbranson was definitely a needed piece of the puzzle. Was nice seeing him slam Tom Wilson the other night. Also good to get Letang back. But as has been mentioned, they're too up and down to make a serious run, and the injuries kill the consistency.

I'm with ya. Gudbranson is a great story if it continues. His defense has been worlds ahead of all the scouting and fan reports from the Canucks. I've stopped complaining about JJ. He makes mistakes but doesn't take shifts off. The sad part is this team is fully capable of beating Tampa or the craps. They won't though, because they can't close.

I think we can beat Washington. It's just a matter of how physical they are willing to be against Ovie, Wilson and Oshie.
Tampa I think probably a game 5 or 6. After that, Tampa is just too loaded for our guys to keep up with.

The Pens have a talented but mismanaged roster.
A lot is cause pieces just don't fit.
 
need to move Kesel and Hornquist off the number one power play and replace with Rust and McCann

The way they have played the last 3 games, they'd be hard pressed to beat the Baby Pens, or one of the local pick up teams

Just got done watching the Bolts and Caps. A good hockey game. I will say this. I have probably seen about 10 Caps games this season. A couple observations. Ovechkin should get called for charging at least once a game, yet he never does. Tonight, he took 3,4,5 strides after the pass and drilled Hedman. And if Orlov couldn’t interfere, he would have no defensive game whatsoever. And it isn’t just the Caps. You see blatant penalties all over the ice these days, and the calls are always for the ticky tack ****. It is ruining the game.
 
They just need to go back to basics and stop trying to be so damn pretty all the time. Keep it simple and fundamentally sound. They have the skill and they have guys who have won at the highest level.

Maybe they're watching too many NFL games. Most true sports fans want to see a straight up game. Call all of the stuff or remove the rule. Don't half *** it.

Ovie has always been that way. I get he's a big body and all, I'm sure pretty surprised no one has lit him up in retaliation.
He's pretty much been like that his whole career.

As for the officiating, the talking heads and fans acknowledge it. Hence why there is fighting allowed.
Idk if it'll change as the league expands. But I agree it ruins the sport.

Officiating in any league, whether it's the nfl, nhl, nba.
I remember watching a few basketball games this season with iffy officiating. I worry about the future of pro sports.

I agree, call it all or get rid of the rule. I am not a fan of “that doesn’t get called because it’s the playoffs” or “it’s a tight game” or whatever. If it’s a penalty in October, it should be a penalty in May. Period.

At least the rules don't seem to have devolved to the point that Ovi has special rules like nfl gives Brady. When they reach that point, becoming a superstar league, I'm done.
 
There is no consistency game to game with calling penalties. Most times it's not even consistent period to period. So much that happens behind the puck is missed.
 
I know what i think Interference should be. The way it is actually called, i don't think i know what it, really, is.

This team is on the brink of being good or horrible.
Such a weird hockey season
 
Better be able to get the second point tonight. If not, that is what 4 blown leads with an OT or shootout loss.
