2015 Edge Defender Prospect (Pre Combine)

Beasley to small for 3-4 OLB same size as Shazier without the coverage talent, Harold is a guy that could instantly replace Worlids but I wan't Jason back if he can't settle on a cap friendly deal under the amount of what the tag will cost then Sheard, Orakpo are better options, you re-sign Moats and Harrison and they rotate on the weakside.
Dupree is a late 1 could be round 2 or round 3 gem has the pass rush skills and stiff vs the run to play in Butler's new hybrid system at 6"4 260 he can easily line as a RE in a 4-3 hopefully we pick up in say the 3rd or 5th round a under 3 T DT to rotate with Mclendon as the NG, as well we need Mcullers to at times play some DE so he needs to probably be at 360.
With the amount of holes we have I would take his teammate Za'Daruis Smith 6"6 263 4.7 has aLL THE SKILLS BUT NEEDS POLISHING you could really play around where you line him at DE/ stand up De rusher 3 point stance, frame is solid that you could use him like Suggs.

With how mocks have changed Trai Waynes the best ready to start CB is a top 15 maybe top 10 CB, so at 22 I explore at 22 a possible trade down say 5 spots or stay and take CB Jalen Collins, round 2 get a hybrid rusher like a Orchard, Dupree or Smith. Round 3 I trade up big time and nab Olumnu, Tomlin likes smaller CB's and they now fit what he and Lake are doing better i.e Mccain @ Blake. Round 4 look at a S then BPA at DT, TE, WR.

Why all this assuming my first 4 rounds are
1 CB Collins LSU a physical big and fast CB who has all the skills to be the good Ike Taylor i.e prior to 2011,
2 Art wan'ts Worlids back but if the cost is to high he is double thinking to use the tag again, so he may elect a short term plug in like Moats @ Deebo thus a long term 34 rusher is needed and guys like Orchard, Dupree are the perfect fit, we could trade down and take Dupree's teammate ( Smith) who at 6"6 260 offers us superb versatility for hybrid sets whether it is rotating at old in the 3-4 and eithier DE side in the 4-3 or on the edge in a 5-2-4.

I think Olumu is another Altner Verner a small but explosive play maker who will use his great speed and instincts to after a year or 2 in the slot play on a island.
adding him would stock up up us with a upgraded CB corps to enter camp

so far say what I want happens
Gay, Collins, Mccain, Blake, Olumnu, Webb, Blake is someone I would play a lot as a FS in the nickel and dime

Rnd 4 S Eskridge/S Drummond

Beasley weighed in at 246 at the combine (and 6'3" exactly, I believe). What say you draftniks?

Does his added weight translate to the field or is he just bigger? Gregory came in at nearly 6'5" and only 235 pounds while Fowler was a hair under 6'3" and 261 pounds.

Most of our recent production on the edge has come with bigger, stronger guys, IMO. Woodley and Deebo played together at 280# and 260#.

With our sub-packages (2 down DL) becoming more prevalent, I don't see this trend changing. Jarvis is obviously too light (although he is roughly the same size as Porter was, he is much slower and less powerful).

Moats is listed at 6'-2" but is only 6' and over 250#. Worilds has been playing over 260# and is only 6'-1". The LOLB needs to be bigger and stronger based on the right-handedness of NFL offenses which tend to run that way.

If we do draft a guy who is lighter, he would have to play on the right,IMO. The last time we employed a ROLB under 245# was with Greg Lloyd.

And threw up the bench a bunch, too. Strong and good pass rush tape. I think he goes early. New Orleans?

"6. Lorenzo Mauldin, Louisville (6035, 256#)

Very thick in seat/thigh and reminds me a bit of James Harrison. Strong and can one-hand dip around edge and maintain strength to close corner. Could even get stronger with NFL weights and be a monster edge defender that can hold point and cause issues pass rushing OT’s. Could play with a bit nastier edge and would like to see an occasional bull rush. Could do better with hands and like Harrison is not the best one-on-one in space vs. smaller backs/receivers. Round 2-3"

This is a guy I like if we stay 3-4, based entirely on dels eval. It would be nice to get him in the second. If he is a first rounder it means they are done with either Jason or Jarvis and both would not be a bad thing to be done with.

WOW. Great production and combine #'s While he won't be great vs the run, I see a very good 3-4 speed edge rusher. Will take him in round one.

I say he won't be there at 1.22...

Mauldin is an interesting prospect - I think OLB is a good fit and he could be a good option on 3rd and long passing downs to rush the QB...
