2015 combine measurements

for what ? sorry i didn't follow all news

Browns GM was illegally texting stuff to the coaches on the sideline. Violation of league policy. There is a big stink about it and they are going to get penalized in some fashion.

They might both pay the price because of the fact that league isn't going to hold the Patriots accountable for cheating again. The Rog will have to prove that he is still the Boss and he isn't going to let people get away with cheating (besides his friends of course), so he might come down extra hard on both of them to make a statement. Since he knows the Pats are getting away with another slap on the wrist and he will be under scrutiny, he'll feel the need to do something drastic to someone.

i would love to pick a couple of spots earlier ..go rodger drop the hammer :p

Competitive advantage.

Let's say the Steelers are playing in Atlanta with the stadium half-full. With 10 seconds left, Steelers are facing 4h and 3, down by 4 at the Falcon 1 yard line and they're out of time outs. The offense is set, but Ben calls and audible. Due to the "artificial" crowd noise pumped in through the stadium speakers, Bell doesn't hear the audible and instead of taking the hand off, peels out of the backfield to run a pass route. Ben, expecting to hand off to Bell is sacked. Game over.

As for the Browns, for any other team there is definitely a competitive advantage to having your GM, sitting in the team's suites, high above the playing field, looking at things like defensive formations and relaying possible plays to you. Assuming the GM, like Farmer is a former football guy and knows his stuff.

Both should lose a draft pick. It should probably be a first rounder, but I think doubt the league will do so.

If only teams were permitted to have coaches sit up in a booth to watch over the whole field and radio down plays to the head coach...j/k.

Both situations are against the rules for a reason and should be penalized justly. A late-round draft pick isn't a punishment. A third-round or higher draft pick on top of a fine and suspension for the appropriate individuals is.

Great points Buck, but my point was a little a skewed. I was referring to Peters run in with coaches on the sidelines and his emotional out bursts against teammates during games. The guy is too immature and already shows he is a punk. I don't think that fits the Steeler way. Your right though we do take guys who are emotional and will "mix it up" on the field, but to be a punk to your coaches and teammates isn't what, I believe, the Steeler coaches or FO will tolerate and add to the roster. Other corners available will help the team win.

so... discuss Jordan Hicks.
reason I bring him up is his 3-cone time of 6.78. Second best among LBs. He's an OLB. Granted, he's a bit small for what we would expect (6'2", 238-240), but that 3-cone drill has been a benchmark for where we usually grade.
he's expected to be a mid-rounder. A bit slow in the 40 (4.6), but was tops in the 60-yard shuttle.

Just asking...not pimping.

Draft in the 2nd....CB in the first and 3rd. Then TE's with the rest of our picks...Cowher style.

I wouldn't look at Hicks until the 4th round or later. He was hurt a lot in college and doesn't have great speed. He isn't an instinctual player and has tunnel vision. I said has tunnel vision instead of can get tunnel vision because that's how he plays. He takes what is right in front of him. He doesn't read offenses well.

I've been doing more and more studying on the DB's in this year's draft class...The name that I now like the best is Jalen Collins. Hopefully he'll be there in the second - he has the size that is necessary in today's passing game and some scouts are comparing him to Terence Newman...not bad - just doesn't have a lot of game time experience...

so w I am looking at CB Darby, PJ or Peters at 22 if OLB only Harold is a OLB worth to take at 22, with how some guys ran and their true measurements we can take a hybrid edge rusher ala Za'darius Smith in the 3rd.

My preference
22 CB Peters
rnd 2 DT Brown
rnd OLB/DE Smith

Trae Waynes solidified his position w/ a 4.31 forty - WOW. Is it me, or does anyone else see "Richard Sherman" in his game tape???

I'm off my "Suh" pipe dream...BUT - knowing what we know now and PENDING the status of Ike, Troy, Kiesel & Worilds - my number one target in FA is McPhee. Acquiring McPhee will INSTANTLY improve our pass rush.

That being said, I think that Darby, PJ and Peters have too many negative marks against them for me to feel comfortable with a first round grade.

While I do like J. Collins - T. Wayne's measurables are building a SUPER CASE for him to be the number one target for the Steelers.

My analysis is all speculative and I am kinda glad I don't have the responsibility of doing this year in and out...

He's not as physical are Waynes, but I see what you are talking about. Big, fast, and solid hands.

we should move up past Miami to get Waynes. There is better valvue for DB's in round 2-4 CB Darby, Robinson, perhaps these 2 FSU CB's slide to our rnd 2 pick, Jalen Collins, Olumu, Rowe, S Holliman, Harris,

When you see the contract that the Colts give McPhee, you will realize that was also a pipe dream...

I think he's getting a monster deal. Even with Doom coming close to being sack leader Pernell was graded as our most productive rusher by PFF (at one point late in the season, never checked the final tally)

He's the real deal, can play just about anywhere in the front 7.

Nothing written in stone yet...

Both the Steelers and the Colts have a good chance for a long season next season - McPhee will have to "weigh his options" while he looks for good money as well. Case in point - Mike Wallace - all that moola for what??? He's still an average WR on a average team...

Sometimes dreams come true.

I buy a Powerball or MegaMillions ticket every now and then because: hey somebody has to win right. But the Steelers nabbing one of the top UFAs (and as a pass rusher, one of the most precious commodities in the NFL) on the market...no chance.
