Check out this video, you can see Ben's agent & himself really wanted to be in NY...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYONAJDWK-E&feature=youtu.be

Funny how sometimes in great disappointment in our life, things are always working out....Glad it went down how it did

Some great clips here....As a young man Ben clowns Eli saying "I don't wanna go to San Diego too."

Was a good watch /refresher.

I remember that draft well. I was shocked Ben was there at #11. I thought the clowns were going to get him. Lot of talent in that draft but you don't skip over a franchise QB for anything. I hated Rivers and his sidewinder motion. I knew Eli was gone too early. I would have traded up for Ben if I had too. Glad the Steelers got him where they did.

Giants were extremely close to taking him if the Chargers didn't agree on a trade. Originally SD wanted Osi as part of the deal and the Giants wouldn't budge on that.

The other interesting part of the story is that the Bills and Tom Donahoe also wanted a QB and they had picks 13 and 22. They tried to trade in front of the Steelers to take Ben but could not find a trade partner and ended up taking J P Losman at 22.
