$14,619,191 in cap space. Who would you have added in free agency?!

Sign gerald hodges to reasonable deal and save the rest.

I'd go out and sign Geno Smith and IK Enemkpali.
Yes, two players of different positions. but i'd let them know that there is one position available and they have to fight for it.

seriously...

Gerald Hodges is a quality player who shouldnt be a free agent. Looking around the net, it appears the Redskins, Vikings and Seahawks are interested in him. So we'll be going with Shazier, Vince and LJ Fort inside. Maybe Mel's son, Akil Blount, can stick to the roster.

I'd bring in Ifo Ekpre-Olomu. Injury prone, yes, but he showed before being hurt that he has talent. After reading this, I'd figure a guy with his drive and determination could, at least, be a good Special Teams guy and backup CB.

We have Coty Sensabaugh people, relax. Lol

THIS!

My god it annoys me the way some fans so casually dismiss Green. And also Senquez Golson

I kinda get it with Golson, until he takes a regular season snap or two it's pretty easy to dismiss him. Hoping we get something out of him, but I'd be pretty shocked if he makes the 53 this season. Really do hope he becomes a contributing factor, but until the china doll shows some durability he's more of a roster liability than anything...yeah he's had some bad luck, or he's just too damn small and frail to make it with the big dogs.

I'd trade our **** and all of our cap space to the bungles for WJIII

Golson has had two bad breaks when it comes to the injury bug but the Steelers must like him as he was on the 53 man this last season in hopes he could comeback from injury. Unfortunately, other injuries happened and we needed that roster spot. I'm glad we signed and drafted some competition for he and Gay thought. I feel our depth should be much improved this year.

Golson is one more preseason bad break from taking a permanent break from the roster.

yeah it has brought me good memories as well as some problems. I remember this one time in the Philippines I thought I got the STD, thankfully it just turned out to be a kidney stone

whew

No need to blow money because they have it. If a FA opportunity opens up, sure. No need to spend just to spend though.

And it annoys me the way some fans actually expect him to play this season. I don't think Deuce Staley II will ever see the field.

For me it is this. Compare the time he saw the field to the time he didn't.

So to have high hopes for him, when he seems to be trending to medically out. Probably isn't realistic.

With Golson,Bryant, and Green I think you have to take the approach they won't be around. And if they are great.

They will sign Tuitt, Villaneuava and Bell long-term before the season starts.

The Steelers might want to wait to see what they have with Hawkins before giving Villanueva a new deal.

Bell is year to year. He needs to prove he won't fail drug tests, and stay injury free.

They liked what they saw in Hawkins last year during training camp. He suffered an injury and they put him on the shelf as they had bodies then. AV has shown he can play and has improved each year tremendously. Could turn out to be one of the best street free agent they've picked up since Willie Parker. His deal will be consummate with a player at his development and will be cap friendly for a starting LT.

As for Bell, his next contract will provide incentive to remain clean as there will be clauses built in to make sure he does.

Your second point "Prove to stay injury free". Ridiculous statement.

How do you prove to stay injury free? His injuries in the past were the result of two suspect hits by Bengal defenders. One in 2014 an the other in 2015. His injury last year was a soft tissue one, and apparently had been playing with it for several weeks. anyone who played sports from a kid to professionals will tell you, if you play not to get hurt, you will get hurt. Head on a swivel, but full speed ahead (in football at least). You say you have a background, but to make this statement would have any coach laugh at you.

Coach is a left wing snowflake from cali

Coach is a LOT of things just as you or I or any member of this board. It takes all of us, regardless of who is the smartest or leftist or rightist, ALL of us. It's these different opinions that keep us awake and informed. You may think coach has some off the wall ideas but I see it as a different way of looking at things. I myself have been held to a higher standard by members here but also realize that those are that individual's opinion, wright or wrong. Myself I am glad that each and everyone of us are here and contribute in the way that we do. It makes for informed and entertaining reading but it is the commen subject that keeps us all together. OUR BELOVED STEELERS obviously being the commen core. So in a twisted way even that scoundrel POPs was enjoyed by many here. Thank you to each and every member of this board and a BIG thank you to the administration / behind the scenes / owner / for us to be able to contribute on the BEST STEELERS MB ever all time!!!!!!

Salute the nation

Minus the money to be paid our pics.
Minus the pad they like to carry into the season, in case of injury, etc.
Minus extension money.
Yeah, we are loaded with cash.

As Villanueva rounds into form, he is turning 28. Sign him, now, to a friendly LT deal and he is a Steeler for his entire career. If Hawkins does well, then lets work that out in 2019.

I think the other should-sign this year is Tuitt. He has been dependable and a good team member. Only when those two are done do I sign Shazier, and only because he is injury prone.

If the Steelers do something like the above, it should send a clear message to Bell that he is less of team player and less reliable than the guys who got paid first.
