Here is a nice BS story. In summary a 13 yr of saw a guy dragging his sister into the woods. He grabbed his slingshot and hit the guy in the chest and then in the eye. The shot to the eye caused the guy to lose vision in that eye. Now the brother is being sued for 800k. The kidnapper claims he was just playing with the girl......I can not believe anyone would even entertain accepting this case.

Suing someone is easy, any ambulance chaser does that for the money, getting a jury to side with you in a case like that would be a whole lot harder. The only one that ever makes out are the dregs of society, the lawyers.

Not our lawyers of course.
I have never met a lawyer that didn't make at lease 6 figures. They should limit them to $50,000 a year to offset the penance they need to do for the job they are in.

Whoever took that case is going to get nothing other than a ton of bills he has to pay. No jury is going to give the guy any money. Juries cost about $1600/week in fees, the court reporter fees are about $1100 per day, plus the expenses for deposition transcripts, filing fee, etc. mean the idiot who took the case will spend somewhere in the area of $45,000 and get zero for that investment.

Not even considering that the guy will get paid zero after spending about 400 hours on the case.

The idea that lawyers make money off bullshit cases is a stupid fiction. It's like every other situation where somebody who doesn't do the job or work in the profession or have any experience in what is involved bases conclusions on some half-assed article about something that happened in 2007 where "x" was the result.

Then why do they do it? Your profession must be full of idiots, as well as scum.

Does homeowner's insurance over there include liability cover for owner and occupants? If so, that might explain it - the lawyer doesn't expect it to get to court. He's banking on the insurance company paying go away money, oops I mean offering a settlement, due to the costs involved in defending a claim.

Perhaps this guy is a victim. All he want to do is play. In the woods. With a young kid. It has victim written all over it. We should start a go fund me.
Or jail his *** for ever and let people play with him

I just read the full story. Essentially a 17year old kid was struggling with an 8 year old girl outside her home. She screams, her brother stops playing a video game and sees the goings on out his window. He loads a marble and a rock from his desk, and nails the asshat in the chest and eye. Asshat runs into the woods and is later found by police hiding in a gas station with the reported wounds. He confessed to police that he planned to "severely beat" the 8 year old girl.

Now, he changes his story to "I just wanted to play with her"

Yeah, no. I hope someone in prison severely beats him into a retard, or vegetable.

Why do you think the lawyer took the case? Jesus, use your common sense - BECAUSE THE CLIENT TOLD A STORY THAT WAS A TOTAL LIE AND THE LAWYER DID NOT KNOW THAT AT THE TIME.

Client sees the lawyer with a serious injury, says he was just joking around with the girl and the other kid shot him in the face with a wrist rocket. Lawyer questions him and believes the guy. He files the lawsuit and now realizes he was lied to. Yipee, he gets to lose money while working.

For **** sake, you think lawyers want to lose money?

Yeah, lawyers are such scum. Who you going to call if some company steals from you or a family member, or if you are badly injured at work, or if you or a family member is hurt by a ****** product that caused the injury, or if you are fired because you got hurt?

And guess who is going to take on the case with zero guarantee of getting paid, but with a guarantee that he will spend a ****-ton of money pursuing the case, and will get paid only when YOU get paid?

I do pretty well at my job. That means my clients also do pretty well. And I get paid ONLY if I am successful. Until we settle or I get a verdict the other side agrees to pay (they usually fight the verdicts but that's fine by me since they are paying 10% interest in the interim), I am paid nothing. Zero.

I've settled as many as three cases in a week. I settled a big case during mediation while in trial, taking the day off for the mediation, then returned to trial after the day off and got a big verdict 10 days later. Good times.

I have also gone as long as seven months between paydays.

Sounds like you had a bad experience at some point and sorry about that. I would guess family law issue? But what you think you know about lawyers and practicing law is 99.99% bullshit.

I will always be grateful for my lawyer who helped me win my custody battle. She was awesome. As an unwed father I won sole legal and physical custody of my daughters against their mother, who happened to be a lawyer.

Your experience is similar to the VAST majority of Americans, many of whom have a negative view of lawyers in general but when asked about their own personal experience will say, "Yeah, my lawyer was great."

It's been okay to use gay and retard again since sometime in January.
a person I work with about a year ago complained that someone uses the "R word" I took notes, promised to investigate, thanked her for her courage, and when she left, looked up what the "R word" was.
