10 years ago today

Greatest Game I ever watched, might not have been as good of a game as the Arizona Super Bowl, but having been born in 1978 and never seeing the Steelers win a Super Bowl, come so close but never winning, that's why it was the greatest game ever. The parade was insane.

I couldn't cheer the Willie Parker run because my son was asleep on my lap.

I still love to rub that in the face of the Seahags fans when they cry how the Refs gave the game to the Steelers. I always point out that it was their D not the Refs that allowed Willie Parker to break the longest run for a touchdown from scrimmage in Super Bowl history. It's also fun to point out to the sea hags fans how everybody in the stadium but their defense could tell the Randal-El Hines Ward pass was a gadget play.

What a journey. All of those HOME AFCCG losses, the loss to the Cowboys in SB XXX and then to beat down the Hags in that game. There was a lot of emotion that day. I look forward to seeing this team get back to the big game and raising that trophy.

Can't believe it's 10 years already. Seems like friggen yesterday.

to me the best part was being able to share 1 with my son..I had tried to explain the feeling of a Super Bowl win...living thru the 70's...but it was truly amazing to share the experience with him even with the fact he was off at school....hoping like hell i get to share a couple with my grandson as well

We won the game with big plays. Two of them have been ingrained in my memory forever.

I have a distinct memory of standing in the back of a room watching the game and watching as everyone, in unison, sat up on the edge of their seat as Randle-El cocked his arm back. Awesome sight.

It was AWESOME to watch the Bus retire with the Lombardi in his hand.

What a run. I watched the Bengal playoff game at my fishing buddies house, and since they won, with me being the superstitious sort, had to watch every seceding game over there. He is what I would call the last true eccentric left. Keeps his house at about 52 degrees in the middle of winter, not cause he can't afford it, but **** the oil companies, you know? He isn't married, as you can guess. So there you are, watching the games in a coat and hat but in a house.

I ended up getting sick as a damn dog a day before the game, but still went over, cause hey, they won those other games while I was there. Didn't have a drop to drink cause I felt so bad. When the game was over and I came back home, I just wanted to get home. Went flying through a stop sign and of course got pulled over. Cop was sure I was drinking what with the Super Bowl and all. Had to do a field sobriety test. I didn't hardly care because of being so damn happy they won. It was just so neat to see one as an adult.

I was at the Viking game that year, believe it was the 2nd game of our "must win every week" streak.

That was an awesome day and like Lexx, the best part was sharing it with my son.

Easily my favorite team in Steelers history. That was an incredible ride with a special group of players. I got to go to that game with my Dad which made it even better. Playing a home game in Detroit is an experience that is hard to fathom, but so glad I got to be a part of it.

I'm sure he sleeps just fine. ...just doesn't plan any trips to Seattle. ..not really a bad thing

I actually enjoyed the SB win over Arizona so much more because there wasn't the huge controversy and outcry about "the refs this and the refs that and it was a cheap win and blah blah blah". I know it shouldn't matter and a win is a win....I was happy about the outcome but that whole thing took a huge steaming **** on top of the celebration for me. I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I should of.

Both were great wins, seemed more historic relevance to getting a bunch of guys their first in Detroit with Bus, Hines, Faneca, Troy, Potsie, Cowher etc. This win seemed historic too as our run too it is where all the football move crap and what is a catch seemed to really begin.

The win over AZ seemed more dramatic though with the greatest play in SB history happening to close the first half and then the shoutout the came to be in the 2nd half ending with the 2 dramatic plays from Ben to Santonio, the miss and the hit!

But I've never seen a SB win by the Steelers that wasn't awesome

I remember at that time I had 4 Steeler fans who came over every week. (We are out of market and I had the ticket) My wife was actuually going to stick around and watch with us.
(We would get to amped up for her) She had bought decorations and stuff, and when I got home from Church that morning she was on the couch sick as a dog. (Still havent seen her that sick since) and she spent the day in bed, and I had to call off the guys, because she wouldnt get any rest. It all worked out in the end. Great day.

Fast Forward....In 08 she wanted to make up for 05 and planned a whole party at my place. This time inviting others! (I was not happy about this....very set in my ways and superstitious) again, that all worked out in the end as well. We enjoyed that one more.

Still great memories.
