kenny PICKett

Please y’all, listen to Steelhurt on this one concerning Kenny Pickett. First off I’m old and remember the days QBs Bill Nelson, Dick Shiner and the pre Chuck Noll days of QB’s we had. Although Bill Nelson when he left to go to the Browns he played well for them, and we had a couple decent seasons when Coach Buddy Parker brought in Bobby Layne. You get my drift I’m ******* old but anyways as I’ve stated before it was time to move on to Kenny since we’ve seen what we get with Mitch. He’s a known product just like Mason, you know what they being to the table. Mason had his opportunities and did little to make anyone think he’s nothing more than a backup and the same with Mitch who had four years in Chicago. They are just guys who are better suited to be backups whether they believe that in their minds, that’s who they are.
Now with Kenny you must roll with this kid who at 24 is no kid and let him take his shot. Of course he’s going to make mistakes as he learns but he will also makes impressive plays along the way but the intangible that is most important is that he will be gaining valuable experience along the way to set this football team up for next year.
Shades along with the fan base must temper their expectations about such things as playoffs, winning season and trying to protect this bs never having a losing season streak and look at the bigger picture. This team is simply not good enough to be a playoff team this year and that’s ok because now you build for the future. Lots of good pieces in place with the receivers, TE’s, RB’s, and even the OL with Daniels, Cole as improvements from last year but with premium draft picks looming in the next draft, we can add a couple quality guys to the OL.
We must all lower expectations this year and let the new QB find his way and build his rapport with these receivers and the OL. I’m expecting a 5 or 6 win season and imo if Kenny plays better as the weeks go by I’m happy with it. Guys, the Bills had growing pains with Josh Allen, the Bengals with Joe Burrow, the Chargers with Justen Hebert, hell the Steelers way back in the day with Bradshaw. Not every situation will turn out to be a magical season like rookie Ben had back in 2004. Ben stepped into a pretty damn good team back then that was predicated on a bruising running attack unlike what we have today. So my message to y’all is hang in there grasshoppers it will be ok, just give it some time and be patient with the new QB. And let me add that I hope shades doesn’t play the chicken switch and give KP a quick hook. We must let him take his lumps and learn this year. It’s a rebuilding year and that’s ok Mikey T. It’s a normal process in the NFL for ALL teams.

you isn't old...you is ancient! lol.

The Steelers will need to make some tough decisions on defense as they have spent WAY too much on that side of the ball comparatively to the offense.

I know, I am ******* ancient that’s no lie. I remember those days when the Steelers were so bad that after a weekly Sunday loss and that’s the only day the NFL played give or take a Saturday when the the local newspapers in bold print read SOS. For any of you younger guys that meant Same Old Steelers! They were perennial losers!

Damn I didn't realize you were that old,

****.

😁😉

His ability to escape the pass rush is about 1000 times better than Trubisky’s. He had some great passes too. Hopefully he will learn from this not to try and force things, on the other hand the first two INTs were very close to being huge positive plays.
Horseshoes and grenades...

You're so old they didn't have history class in school. It was called current events.

Unfortunately Slash! I remember and have seen a lot when it comes to the Steelers and Pittsburgh sports for that matter. It was bad in those early days Slash but as we all know it changed when Emperor Noll came aboard.
Yes sir. I was about 5 years old on the grandparents farm. They must have had the Eagles-Steelers on in 73. Or turned it on to give something to watch as they were converting me from German to English. Obviously I didn't understand the game well but I watched it and I picked the Steelers. Everything after that point has to be Steelers gifts or I was disappointed. I was disappointed often. But didn't stop my love for them. So obviously I missed that time frame they really really sucked. Some fans think post Bradshaw- pre Ben was bad. I looked at what I could find from that era man a lot of Ls. That obviously had to be the most challenging time to watch the team. I was lucky with the time period I started watching as they were winning and winning often.

The pass DJ missed yesterday was tipped at the LOS. It was a zip ball, so the trajectory was off for a split second. I wouldn’t fault DJ for that one.
Yeah still two hands on the ball
It’s not like he had to jump or anything, barely broke his stride

I wouldn’t fault a guy getting paid peanuts as much, but my expectations are most $20m WRs make that catch at least 9/10 times

The black n gold harvested a lot of fans worldwide in the 70’s which were truly magical years in the 70’s.
I worked in the heart of the city back in those days in the tallest building that rusty one with UPMC on top. Back then it was the US Steel Building but man every fall and winter that city was electric and people were excited. That was back in the day when folks actually made eye contact with one another and spoke friendly to each other. Of course there were no distractions like cell phones just folks being folks, not like today. I know I sound old but it was just a friendlier time.
I remember at that time coming in from the South Hills of Pittsburgh to the heart of the city, Grant Street riding what we called the street car or trolley whichever you prefer. You knew Monday mornings whether the Steelers won or lost judging from the mood on the trolley. Win or loose you talked Steeler football with your coworkers it’s just what was expected otherwise you were odd.
Had season tickets 72,73,74, and 75 and could write a book with experiences.
I’m getting emotional here!

All the offensive replays I've watched, Kevin Dotson just gets blown up. Pushed over, a swing and a miss, falling forward.

Yeah, Fran Rogel. To coin a phrase from Robert Rocky Bleir who would have said back in the 50’s and 60’s if he were in Pittsburgh, “the Steelers Suck”. They really did suck back then. But we had the Pirates which saved us.

He’s not as hesitant as Trubisky. Hopefully as he gets reps with the first team offense through out the week, the offense improves. Cannot be any worse than the first 4 weeks
Seemed less hesitant to use the middle of the field and targets not named Johnson which will help johnson in the long run.

Yeah times definitely have changed for the worse. Still a lot of Steelers fans so we have that!

The boss has allowed me to break my widdle piggy bank today so I could pony up and renew my subscription for this board. Been meaning to do this for a while so I celebrated this blessed action by changing my avatar to my main man Kenny Pickett. I will pull for Kenny and watch his progress this season with excitement, realistic expectations, watching him learn and grow into this position. As I said before I'm not expecting Kenny to be the savior this season and turn this around since that would be unfair to expect that from any rookie QB put into this situation we find ourselves in, but I do know this, a new sense of excitement about this team has given me hope and encouragement which I haven't had in a few years.
I'm looking to the future and adding more pieces to this team that will help Kenny succeed and a losing season this year will not deter my excitement as I watch him get experience this year building for the future. So come this Sunday I will be wearing my number 8 Pickett jersey and head to my Steeler Bar in Houston. Win or lose I'll be backing KP and the black n' gold.

That's how I look at it. He's a rookie and will make mistakes. There's definitely a different feeling when he's in the game. The second half of the Jets game was as if the offense came alive even though we lost. And I don't expect a SB win or even a playoff this year. I just wanna see the team play the game like they're interested in doing the best they can and at least TRY to win.

You’re so old you were born before paragraphs were invented.
