Kenny Pickett QB3

Dotson starting at guard over Green.

Bush starting at ILB.

Sutton over Wallace at starting CB. Maulet the starting nickel CB.

I know a lot of people will be upset over Pickett at QB3. Still not sure how Wallace isn’t starting with Sutton in the slot. All of that said, none of this surprises me. At all.

If it is accurate it is bullshit on Pickett and Wallace. I have to assume it is inaccurate.

The better question is how is Bush starting and/or still on this team?
Maybe as equipment manager, but not starting at ILB.

Kind of typical when those who still need to prove they belong get put atop the heap and those who outperform expectations are relegated to the back of the line....

I’m not reading too much into QB2 and 3. Even if it is Rudolph dressing as QB2 doesn’t mean he’s going to start if Mitch is out for a prolonged period. In fact, I’m ok with Rudy being the mop up guy if needed if Mitch needs to come out of a game. It’s easier to switch back to Trubisky from Rudolph than switching from Pickett.

Pretty sure Ben was sitting at 3r on the depth chart at this time also. I wouldnt worry to much about it. especially since their isnt much we can do about it.

I've seen a lot of this all day and don't quite get the logic. You're not good enough to come in off the bench on game day, but if needed for a stretch of 3-4 weeks you'll start?

Why is it bullshit? I wouldn't have Pickett as game day #2 for awhile. It means nothing more than he isn't ready to come into a regular season game cold. That is far different than preparing to start all week. It has no reflection on who would get the start if Mitch gets hurt I bet.

It is bullshit because Pickett is showing starter capable and we know what Rudy is. A career backup. It is bullshit because Sutton isn't really an outside corner. And it is bullshit because Bush shouldn't be rewarded with a start after ****** play.

Pickett is said to be pro ready and looked the part. I see no reason they need to bury him on the depth chart.

I still don't get your point. What bearing does this have on who would start if needed? He isn't buried on the depth chart. As you said Rudy is the backup and that is a skill. I don't want Pickett coming in that way. I want him preparing all week to start. Sutton has been lights out at outside from everything I have read.

My point is Pickett is capable so why let him sit behind Rudy? The bearing will show on the score board when Rudy gets you a whopping 13 to 16 points on the day if you are lucky. If Pickett is a third stringer that would make him buried on the depth chart, yes. Rosters should be sequenced best to worst. I think Pickett has earned number 2 IMO.

As far as Sutton we saw last year that outside wasn't his strength, preseason won't magically change that regardless of whatever fluff piece was out there covering the topic.

Pickett at 3 makes sense, My assumption is the staff knows what they have with Rudolph and trust him to come off the bench. They might know what they have or lack with the OL and feel more comfortable with Mason. It really makes no difference.

If they feel they have a lack of an OL they might want to play the two more mobile QBs.

1. All through the Preseason when 2 Cbs were on the field it was Sutton and Witherspoon, in Three CB sets, Sutton moves inside to the slot and Wallace comes on. Maulet might be the “ top pure slot corner, but he is probably third or fourth in terms of who actually lines up in the slot, because of Sutton and a couple safeties that are ahead of him there

2. Pickett was initially planned to be the 3rd QB … Mason will be 2 barring injury or that ever tempting trade… its no different than the plan they had with the past umpteeth qbs they drafted, regardless of round…

3. Dotson is the better talent at guard.. for whatever reason the staff doesn’t love his attitude so they always try to knock him down a peg.. he should be starting… if they force fed Green in there, it would be an issue

Nah Batch blew himself up before camp… they kept Brian St Pierre on that year and people bitched because both of their backups were relatively inexperienced… lol

Pickett at QB3 is absolutely insane. Why the **** draft him? You are going to have the "future of the franchise" not dress on Sunday's and get no reps in practice other than with the scout team. This is what I was afraid Tomlin would do. Pickett may as well go practice on his own otherwise he will get worse throughout this season. All the progress he made from OTA's, to camp, and to the preseason games was for not. He'll have to start over next year. The only good thing next year is Rudolph will probably be gone hoping he can start somewhere else.
