Report: Steelers will have new look on D

I believe this is yet ANOTHER case of the team being forced to make the correct moves.

On ESPN it was reported that...

1.) The team was surprised by Dick's resignation, and that...

2.) The team will have a new look on D.

Does that mean that they informed Dick they wanted a new D scheme and he threw a hissy fit and quit? It's starting to look that way.

Dick said the right things, but you can clearly see he is upset about something. There is no question.

I for one am thrilled he is leaving and we are trying something different for once. Maybe it won't take 3 years to get a player ready for whatever new scheme they are going with.

I find all of this to be good news. Look how Dallas improved when they got the super old DC out and a new guy in, and they were historically bad on D last year and
became respectable this year.

Now we don't have to hear, every game, how Dick is ageless and a genius. That sh-t was beyond old.

first off, please understand that anyone who ***** on Dick LeBeau is a piece of ****.

secondly, a breath of fresh air may be needed, as our defense did begin to seem predictable. this could either be because Dick's scheme was difficult or we didnt have the exact players to run it... or a combination. At which point, it could be that Dick made it clear he needs help on the defensive side in the draft. Maybe even pointed out whom we needed...or even suggested we bring back certain player(s). We don't know and will not know. DLB will not come right out and say and the FO will not either.

spot on! Don't dump on Coach Lebeau. He served the Steelers with honor and dignity. Always.
It's OK if he didn't agree with a new direction or input from Tomlin or what have you. Something happened he wasn't comfortable with and stepped down. I hope this turns out to be the move that this D needed. It's been stale for too long now. DL couldn't coach forever. This day was coming. No reason to blame or dump anyone for this move.

This crap about rookies having a hard time with the system is crap. Woodley started in year two and played a lot as a rookie, Timmons was behind Farrior and Foote, Hood was behind Smith and Keisel, then Heyward was behind Smith, Keisel, and Hood as a rookie, Shazier started but was hurt, Jones has been given chances and he keeps getting hurt, this crap about it taking rookies to long is crap and it's not on the scheme, it's that these guys can't stay healthy. Same for Shamarko.

Bring it on. You hired a defensive mind as HC; 8 years is too long to force him to play someone else's system. Let's see what chops the guy has.

You mean he said he needed defensive help in the draft so we could sit them for 3 years before they see the field. That sounds like more of the same crap we've been seeing with DL all these years. If Dick had a hand with the Jones and Shazier picks, I can see why he wants out; he is embarrassed by his work.

If the team wanted to switch to a 43 and DL was pissed I get that. He is a great coach and better person and if he doesn't want to run a 43 he shouldn't have to. If he wants another job he will get it without a problem.

Now if the Steelers wanted to go to the 43 it wouldn't be that hard. James Harrison, Jason Worilds, and Moats could all leave the LB core leaving Timmoms at OLB, Shazier at OLB, Spence at MLB and Jarvis Jones on the streets. Heyward can play DE or DT and McLendon can play DT. Tuitt can move inside to DT. That leaves us in need of at least one 43 DE but there's FA's and the draft. All in all not that big of a change but I don't see it improving our pass rush much next year.

heavy D draft, looking forward to it. Also please get some good FA so we don't reach for a position on draft day

no, I'm not saying that anymore than you're saying you lick your mother's vagina.
i'm stating... we do not know what went on behind closed doors between those men or between your and your mother's vagina.

Begging the question means "assuming the conclusion (of an argument)", a type of circular reasoning. This is an informal fallacy where the conclusion that one is attempting to prove is included in the initial premise of an argument, often in an indirect way that conceals this fact.

Great point. Let the man coach what he coach upon being hired. I think that set precedence for demeaning the head coach spot from the very start - forcing the D system on the head coach. A head coach should call the shots on that level, but not in Pgh, I guess. Also, the OC and his system were forced on him as well. Haley was obviously not a Tomlin choice; that was Rooneys all the way.

Perhaps Dick, the class act that he is, looked at how Butler was being strung along year after year after year and decided to step aside to give him his shot. (decision to do so made easier by his desire to go out with his old vets). One may never know.

How is 7th grade going this year? Your mom would be so pissed if she knew you were using her computer to post such filth.

Dick is used to being treated like some sort of god or like Yoda. I guess his wittle feelwings got hurt and he threw a hissy fit because they told him changes had to be made. So he throws a fit.

Rooneys to Dick: "Hey Dick, this just in: We don't care if you have man love for Troy; he's washed up and has to go. Deal with it, if not, hit the bricks."

And hit the bricks he did.

No, reading between the lines, something angered him. You could tell by the tone and body language that he is upset; had it just been a circumstance of him stepping aside for Butler, it would be a much different tone.

Begging the question means "assuming the conclusion (of an argument)", a type of circular reasoning. This is an informal fallacy where the conclusion that one is attempting to prove is included in the initial premise of an argument, often in an indirect way that conceals this fact.

Circular reasoning (Latin: circulus in probando, "circle in proving"; also known as circular logic) is a logical fallacy in which the reasoner begins with what they are trying to end with. The components of a circular argument are often logically valid because if the premises are true, the conclusion must be true. Circular reasoning is not a formal logical fallacy but a pragmatic defect in an argument whereby the premises are just as much in need of proof or evidence as the conclusion, and as a consequence the argument fails to persuade. Other ways to express this are that there is no reason to accept the premises unless one already believes the conclusion, or that the premises provide no independent ground or evidence for the conclusion. Begging the question is closely related to circular reasoning, and in modern usage the two generally refer to the same thing.

he stated that he'd be back if the Steelers still wanted him to coach. Him resigning may be a nice way of being relieved of his duties. Butler will not stick around if something bigger happened for him here and DL and the Steelers knew this. KB is a FA. Could be as simple as that.

My guess is the alleged "defensive guru" we hired as HC wanted to change some things we do on defense 'while' LeBeau still hung his name on it. In the old school world...that ain't gonna happen.

Dick would rather resign than allow a guy who has exactly ONE year coaching a defense ON ANY LEVEL (college or pro) put his sophomore fingerprints on his 33+ years of being a DC.

I wouldn't allow it either. If Butler will, he probably gets the job.

so basically we won the super bowl in spite of Tomlin? He didn't want that D or that offense, but there we were in the Super Bowl.

We need to quit with all these assumptions of what took place and how...we dont know. But what we can all agree on was that some sort of change was needed on defense...had we had a top 10 defense, even with an ailing LeVeon, we'd still be playing a game next week in New England.

This "i think....what probably happened was....he didnt see eye to eye, ...he wasnt gonna stand for...." bullshit is chick soap opera nonsense. And folks are gonna spin it to fit their agenda or narrative. Why should we even give a **** the reason Dick quit or was fired ?...many other owners/head coaches wouldve done the same thing.....the product on that side of the ball was a hindrance to what we were tryin to accomplish.

THis is NOT girls night out at Sarahs crotchet and tea party.
