Steeler vs Ravens and End of Season Thoughts

I agree with Harbaugh it was a shady exploitation of the rules that suits Bellichek perfectly. He is probably the only guy in the league that would think to go there.

That being said I would literally quit watching the Steelers altogether if they hired either one of the Harbaugh brothers. Wouldn't give it a seconds thought. I can't the stand the sight of either of them or their constant childish antics.

I'm not so sure. The Ravens were 36 yards away from a second AFC Championship game in 3 years, while the Steelers haven't won a single playoff game since 2010, and they remain the only home team to lose in the playoffs so far.

Ravens blew two 14 point leads and their elite QB threw a horrible INT to lose the game are now sitting on the couch with the Steelers. Broncos choke at home to a team with no running game and the 19th ranked D.

So, what happened to the Rats today? Doesn't look like they are going any farther after today, and watching that ****** ******* team try to lose to the ******* shitstains when they had their "I was just playing corner on the ******* practice squad" qb in then turn around and score that many on the Pats just goes to show, you just never know week to week. Steelers just need to do well enough to get in it again next year, and anything can happen.

Joe

LOL. Yeah, what happened to that "****** *******" Ravens team? Great question. Nothing, except having the #1 seed on the ropes all day before finally succumbing in the final two minutes of the game.

Yes, anything can happen. Like pissing away a first round bye by going 0-2 against two (actual) ****** ******* teams who were a combined 4-26 against the rest of the league.

Again, THIS is the whining sopping ******* **** some of you just can't WAIT to have here.

http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2015/1/...-trick-play-that-got-john-harbaugh-mad-ravens

Wahhhhh, I didn't like what they did, wahhhh, I'm mad, I didn't understand.

Yeah, our guy is clueless, and this **** is a genius.

Joe

I wonder if you called Tomlin a "whining sopping ******* ****" after he lamented all of those Cleveland "trick plays" (aka play-action passes to the tight end) which resulted in the 31-10 loss to that ****** ******* Browns team earlier this season.

Probably not.

Too bad the Ravens didn't blow their 15-point lead to our beloved Steelers.

Hard to win a playoff game without your MVP of the season Levean Bell. I'm amazed and happy this team actually was 11-5 and won the division. Pre-season and early on I was prepared for a 4-12 season. Too many young guys. Kiesel and Harrison really helped when Shazir and Jones went down. All in all Ben had a great season, probably because he had decent protection along with Bell and Brown. Blount was a mistake but give Tomlin credit, he fixed it.

With LeBeau gone I expect more play by younger guys. Agree that Jones needs to get bigger or he's toast.

Thanks to Troy, Brett, James and Ike. Time for the new guys to step up.

I know the schedule is "brutal" next year but if the Stillers play true to course they play better when underdogs.

So you'll rant and rave about the losses we had, but the Ravens were still in the running for the division going into the Houston game... what happened there? They lost to a QB that was on another teams practice squad the week before. **** happens, but you're on the wrong board.

Very disappointing to lose to such a mediocre team and watch them puff out their chests like they accomplished something.

The ravens didn't do that much, the steelers just shot themselves in the foot repeatedly all night.

Ravens didn't run it that well. Flacco didn't have to make any hard throws. No pressure at all., blown coverages, and missed tackles gave the Ravens easy yards.

The raven defense didn't stop the steelers as much as the steelers stopped themselves. Dropped balls, penalties, missed blocks, not even trying to attack the middle.

When a team is beating themselves, get out of the way. Ravens just got out of the way.

Having said that, the Steelers beating themselves was the recurring theme of this season. They make way too many mistakes and for some reason, the steelers seem to only play hard for like 20 minutes per game.

Did this look like a playoff game? Did the steelers look like a team fighting for their lives against a hated rival? They did for about a 10 minute stretch when they got the fumble and the quick TD, then right back to comatose.

I didn't understand the offensive gameplan. I'm thinking that the last game with 6 TDs went to Haley's head and he expected easy plays. That's fine if you want to start out that way but why keep firing downfield when the Ravens were taking that away?

It looked like Arians called this game.

Where was the tempo? The Ravens are big and FAT on defense. You don't have to go no huddle but the plays seemed to be coming in so slow. The Steelers drained the clock themselves for most of the game.

The Refs - i hate bringing them up because it always seems like excuse making but the calls were very slanted. Offensive facemask on a stiff arm is rarely called. Brown got called. Offensive PI is rarely called. Bryant got called. They called the steelers for defensive PI and let contact slide for the Ravens. Apparently the ravens didn't hold all game either. The calls were not consistent.

It will be fun watching the Ravens get blown out by the Pats.

Season Thoughts

Jarvis Jones is completely useless. He looks like he weighs 200 lbs. If this ****** shows up next year at camp and he's not 230, they should trade him or cut him on the spot. I've read where he claims he can't play at a heavier weight. Guess what Jarvis, you are slow at a light weight. At least at a heavier weight you may be able to get some push.

Archer - this guy has to win the return jobs or he's a total waste. His problem is that despite his great speed, he doesn't make people miss. Antonio Brown makes people miss. They say you have to get him in space. **** that. Put me in open space an i'll gain you a few yards. I want a guy who makes yards without having to be in wide open space.

Mike Mitchell - dumb as a rock. Polamalu has been known to give up some plays because he is freelancing and trying to do other things. It was worth that trade off because for most of his career, he did deliver huge plays that were worth the occasional play he gave up. Mitchell seems to want to do the same but he never makes the big plays that warrant the chances. He's not smart enough to read what's happening.

Shamarko - He has to start next year. who cares if he makes mistakes. Mitchell makes mistakes every game. At least Shamarko might get better and i won't have to watch Shamarko flexing after every routine play he makes.

Cortez - i'd like to see him get a shot at Safety. I'm not sure he is athlete enough for CB, but he has good ball skills. Maybe he can be a ball hawk center fielder to pair with Shamarko's down in the box playmaker.

Worilds - If you can get him at a good price, bring him back. I'm not sure he'll get many offers after this poor season. If they can land a stud pass rusher in the draft, Worilds can be a good second rusher. So if you can get him for #2 money, do it.

Cam Thomas - here's a free coffee mug, now beat it scrub,

Heath - i think he's done as a #1 TE. He may have a few more years as a #2 blocking TE. They need to draft a TE.

Gilbert and Adams - Munchak is not a miracle worker. They need something better.

When Blount was cut, we had no plan B until the playoffs started. It was an odd game plan from Haley. We played conservative early, and it cost us.

Jones is neither big or fast. I like his effort, but his results are limited. The Steelers play him like an end as he's not the type you want in pass coverage.

Archer looks like a bad draft pick. You can always get a Reggie Dunn type late in the draft or in free agency.

S Thomas? He did not make many plays on the ball in college, and is injury prone. He can hit a ton, but these days that draws a flag.

I agree with you on Allen. Dude has ball skills and is long I think he can make a good FS. He's just not quick or fast enough to play on the outside. Mitchell? Not very impressed. The cap money spent on these two....yikes!

Woridls? His agent has us by the short hairs. He's good, but not worth franchise tag money. If some team gives him a max deal, let him walk and take a 3rd-4th round comp pick next year.

Colbert hit some home runs on Heyward, Bryant and Bell. He'll need a good 2015 draft as the defense needs lots of help.

Love Sham-nado's story. But he has a lot working against him.

The fact he didn't see more time with a ****** secondary doesn't bode well for him. As well as the injuries he encountered.

But if he does somehow earn a look it will be at SS not FS IMO.

Mitchell will be given every chance IMO to improve and probably at corner, Allen will as well.

Jones and Archer IMO better have a good camp as this could be their last year in Black N Gold if they do not improve.

Something tells me we will see improvement with Shazier.

Worilds should be allowed to test the market. Not sure a team will shell out big bucks for him.

I expect Butler is going to want a pass rusher or two and a corner brought in.

Whether they come early in the draft or early in free agency.............

Mitchell I think can improve. He may actually do better if Troy retires because he'll be the man and doesn't have to look around wondering WTF Troy is doing. You're not going to pick that up in one year.
Jones will be back because 1) they don't have anyone else and 2) cap hit and it's the last year of his contract anyway. If he doesn't have a good year (again) then they should let him walk.
Archer will be back simply because if they cut him after one year that would be admitting a mistake. A lot of businesses keep useless people around because while it looks bad, if you fire them it makes the person who hired them look worse. Tombert is no different.
Shazier is too soon to tell but he could become good.
Worilds is Just A Guy and deserves Just A Guy money. The problem is that HE won't think so after getting transition player money and will be looking for that $10 million again or more. I would make him a fair offer of say $6 million but if another team wants to pay him a dollar more then let him walk.

You're comparing a road loss to the Houston Texans, a team who nearly made the playoffs themselves and finished 7th in the league in points allowed, to a home loss versus a team that won one other game the entire year? You're on the wrong planet.

Yeah, too bad. That and a subway token will get them on the subway.

And only $21.95 (plus $4.99 shipping, of course) will get you a lovely 2014 AFC NORTH DIVISION CHAMPIONS hat, too.

I wait for junk like that to go on clearance, then I buy it to wear to paint or to sleep in.

Maybe the Ravens can make up a couple 2014 Wild Card Winners hats for a couple bucks with some stuff from the dollar store.

HA! Clearly you forgot who was QBing that Texans team. A team that needed more help to get in than we did last year. My point is, you're always on the Steelers case, but you praise the Ravens, when the Ravens did the exact same things.

See, we might have lost to some pretty pathetic teams early on, but when it came down to the playoff push, we won the games that we needed to win. The Ravens **** the bed. We needed to win out to secure the division, we did that. The Ravens controlled their own playoff destiny, win out and no one could keep them out. They didn't do that, but by all means keep praising the almighty Ravens for their vast accomplishments in finishing third in the division and needing help to get into the playoffs because they couldn't be a reeling Texans team who realistically had no shot at the playoffs.

It's almost comical how negative you always are about the Steelers but give glowing reviews of our biggest rivals...

**** the Rats. **** their entire org. **** Harghbitch, **** Ozzy, **** unibrow, **** steve smith sr, **** em all. They are at home now, so are we, no one gives a ****. We had a pretty good year, but we **** the bed when it counted, guess what, so did they, just one game later. We'll see what next year brings, but I want all you cunts to remember how deep you had Ozzy and Harghbitches cocks down your gulletts next time you come here bitching about the ravens. (Those of you who were knob polishing the entire ******* org after they beat us know who the **** you are).

******* bandwagon cunts.

I actually saw a Ravens fan wearing a 2012 division champs hat yesterday, which was odd because they won the Super Bowl that season.

I didn't forget who was quarterbacking the Texans, which is why I pointed out their defensive prowess. Keenum had a 50.2 QB rating in that game, so evidently Houston relied pretty heavily on Arian Foster and their Defensive Player of the Year candidate. Imagine that. I forgot how good Mike Glennon was, and how losing at home to a team that finished the rest of their schedule at 1-14 should be considered "the exact same thing" as a loss to a pretty good team on the road.

I'm not praising the Ravens as much as I'm simply pointing out the facts which refute inane blanket "exact same thing" statements made by t-man and yourself. Feel free to carry the **** THE RATS, WHO CARES THAT THEY BEAT THE STEELERS, THEY SUCK, AND ANYONE WHO HAS THE NERVE TO THINK THAT THEY MIGHT BE EVEN A HALF-DECENT FOOTBALL TEAM IS A SOPPING ******* **** flag with your buddy there. It seems to make you guys feel better.
