Bussie is a finalist. But some tough competition this year, among them....

- Jr Seau - probably a lock even before he offed himself and was found to be suffering from concussion syndrome. A lock.
- Orlando Pace - one of the best ever at the key OL position. Lock.
- Charles Haley. Only man to win 5 rings, but media doesn't like him. Still might make it this year.
- Morton Anderson. Not many kickers make it, but he is best ever.
- Kurt Warner. Only one ring but has the top 3 most yards on any QB in the SB. That is 3 apparences and he owns all top 3 yards in SBs, of all SBs of all time. That is crazy.

Then you got Bill Polian, Will Shields, Marvin Harrison, Tim Brown, Jimmy Johnson, Kevin Greene.

Bussie might have to wait another year. But he will get there, no doubt, and add to our "wing" of the Hall.

He definately should over terrel. I say hell yes, for two reasons. 1.) he just down right deserves it for as he was a LOAD, a great runner, and has the right attitude. 2.) it would make me and many others very happy. we need happy.

Salute the nation

This is his year.
As Steeler fans we have a lot of reasons but they only need one: 6th place in career rushing yards.

The only real question is does Davis steal enough votes to keep him out. over a career bettis was better. For a short peak Davis was. The real difference is that Bettis ran in a traditional blocking system and davis was in the system where they could plug any back in and get 1200 yards out of, well that and that Bettis, in his Prime had Stewart... not Elway as his QB...

Terrell Davis shouldnt get in for a long time, if ever. Sorry, but 3 years of excellence doesnt cut it for the Hall, IMO. Maybe if he couldve kept it up through 2001-2002, then perhaps. Hey, he seems to be a great guy, very humble, down-to-Earth and gracious for his time in the league. But no way should he see the hall, maybe 25-30 yrs down the road we can talk.. Too many others that need to get their chance first.

Bus is similar to Riggins in a lot of ways and he made it. Saying that his yards per game and average per carry probably wasn't HOF worthy.

His yardage total / career + nimble feet and being one of the best powerbacks in NFL history probably will get him a nod.....

I hope he gets in this year, should have gone in before Curtis Martin a few years ago. Definitely the next back in!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately for Bettis, YPC is a popular stat while 1st downs is an obscure one (at least at the player level). Not saying he won't get in, just that it works against him.

Exactly... I don't understand how it's even debatable... 8 of the top ten are already in. Tomlinson will go in most likely on his first try. To put this in perspective as to how ridiculous it is that Bettis isn't in... Jerome retired with 22 rushing yards less than Ladanian.

I've got it being Seau, Pace then Bus/Haley as tied...

I hope he does. He may get another snub because 'too many Steelers' in the Hall of Fame. I'm afraid Hines may run into the same issue next year. (I think he's eligible next year)

Seau, Warner, Pace, Haley, Polian/Johnson, Harrison/Brown......and hopefully Bus lucks out....

I don't know, Martin was pretty damn good.

Martin was very good. As Ron pointed out, his total yardage is what will get him in. I heard an insider laugh about the best big back thing. Said it was meaningless, like putting a guy in for being the best tall wide reciever. 6th place all time is what will get him in. As for Hines, I'm afraid his road is going to be very hard. Wideouts get no respect. Look at how long Swann, Stallworth, Monk, and Carter had to wait to get in. Tim Brown has way better numbers than Hines, and he's still on the outside looking in.

I have a hard time with Warner getting in anytime soon. He had a great six years, but there was a 5 year period in between where he didn't do ****! 3 great years then 5 years of nothing then 3 great years. Had he put together 6 straight years then I could see it. I'm sure his story will probably put him over the edge this year or next, but I sure hope it doesn't.

I just can't see Warner getting in on his first ballot. He probably gets in but I'd think it would take a few years.

He will because of his place on NFL network and stuff.... Credibility goes way up when you put that "HOF" next to his name... Same thing they did with Dan Dierdorf when he was on MNF.... What I can't understand is how Warner can be such a shoe-in, but a guy like Plunkett was never even considered. It's not that I think Plunkett necessarily has a HOF resume, but the guy did win two lʍoq ɹǝdnSs, and quite convincingly at that. I think It also hurt Plunkett that he did it while playing for Oakland. Not that I'm a closet Raider fan or anything, but I definitely think there is some anti-Raider bias when it comes to electing guys to the Hall. Guys like Cliff Branch, Stabler, and Lester Hayes should all be in.

But getting back to Warner, he did play in 3 lʍoq ɹǝdnSs, but threw pick 6's in two of them that very much contributed to his team's losing both of those games. And, as was said previously, there was a large portion of Warner's career that was very very ordinary. In fact, he became somewhat of a liability in that he would turn the ball over quite a bit during the middle part of his career... not so much INT's, but fumbling when sacked. The guy was a very good QB, but everyone that believes he's a lead pipe lock for the HOF I think aren't remembering that middle part of his career when he struggled.

Those NFL network boys have been lobbying hard for Warner and Davis to get in, and they will along with the BUS!!!

Bettis is without question the finest BIG BACK the NFL has ever seen.

Sure everyone will point to Earl Campbell and say he was better and Earl was damn good but no RB the size of Bettis. Bettis had the footwork of a guy like Barry Sanders on the frame of a guy like Earl Campbell. He was unbelievable that the guy his size could shake and bake defenders and just shrug them off when he was in his prime. He could run over you or run around you. He really was a special player and IMO belongs in the HoF before Terrell Davis.

Davis may end up with the Lynn Swann Problem, meaning that his season stats were good but he simply didn't play that long.

He should but you have some sentimental favorites that may hurt the BUs. His stats as a power back deserves hid spot in the HOF.

He has a slightly different problem compounding that... when he got hurt, every back they plugged in ran for serious yardage... they had like 3 or 4 scrub backs around that time have great years when he wasn't in... there always were questions whether it was him or just that blocking scheme that was predicated on blowing out defensive linemen's knees...
