I'd bring back Chris Hubbard. He is the top back-up for Browns so he wouldn't be that expensive. He can play all 5 OL positions and might still be better than anyone
from our 2021 OL. I'd still like to see us sign a top OL free agent, but adding Hubbard as well would go a long way toward improving the OL. He's also a great locker room
guy and mentor for our younger OL players.

Witherspoon or Montravius Adams
I bring back both. And add another CB, RT RG, and C. Not sure who will be tagged but C and CB gets my top priority. Then RG then RT and SS. SS is Edmunds if I can't get a clear upgrade.

Me too! Bring them both back. I wonder if we will be early participants in FA instead waiting for the blue light specials?

They better be. Because this team needs to be competitive again. Stop making the watch so painful.

You likely have to sign Edmunds before free agency starts or it becomes a crap shoot on whether your able to sign someone better.

How long did it take us to name the elevated DC ? Do we even have an OL coach yet? We have known for awhile Colbert was leaving ...now we start the interview process for a GM...If you expect us to do anything other than at a snails pace...you aint been watching

Laken Tomlinson, Steelers need a veteran road grader in the middle and this guy is it. And he shouldn't break the bank.
I was checking him out a while back. Good run blocker. Couple of those guys and a upgrade at C could help stabilize that Oline.

What would that be?

Ever since I heard the Steelers roster described as lacking a middle class, I realized I agree. They need some affordable contracts with solid players. This will allow them to build depth as younger players develop rather than thrusting them into the starting lineup before they are ready. These would be some of my targets. (All contract projections are from PFF)

Mitchell Trubisky, QB, Bills
Rudolph isn't bad enough to get the Steelers in the top 3 of the draft and isn't going to be fun to watch. Trubisky at least adds some entertainment factor. His contract is predicted at 2 years, $14 million.

Ben Jones, C, Titans
PFF projects him at 3 years, $6.67 million, which would place him in the middle of the pack for starting centers. Give me a veteran who can help stabilizes this offensive line.

Brandon Shell, RT, Seahawks
Solid player who would be an upgrade over Okorafor. He's had injury issues the past two years. He has a projected contract at 3 years, $18.75 million. I'd try to go two years and a bit less money while drafting a future RT this year.

Cedric Wilson, WR, Cowboys
His production has improved each year and he would add good size and speed. Has the ability to step in as slot receiver, which would be a huge upgrade over Ray Ray. Project at 2 years, $11 million.

Bilal Nichols, DE, Bears
If Tuitt isn't back, the Steelers should bring in a low-cost free agent. Nichols is a proven starter. He isn't a dynamic player, but has starting experience. 2 years, $13.6 million

Linval Joseph, IDL, Chargers
He's old, but has a history as a dominant run stuffer. I wouldn't expect that at this point of his career, but he could still contribute and is projected at $6.75 million for one year.

Anthony Walker, ILB, Browns
Productive defender who has the ability to drop into coverage. Like Schobert, he'll struggle against the run. Contract is at 2 years, $8 million.

Donte Jackson, CB, Panthers
Carolina invested in the position and will move on. A little smaller, but that's ok as the Steelers will hopefully bring back Witherspoon and have size at the position. I look at this as a Steven Nelson-type signing where they get a guy who is a scheme fit more than a dominant player. The idea is to get value. PFF projects him at 2 years, $20 million.

K'waun Williams, CB, 49ers
The Steelers did a poor job replacing Hilton last year. Williams would be a great fit in this position. He's just a solid football player and part of the "middle class" that the Steelers need to build up. He's projected only to get a 1 year, $2.5 million contract.

Jordan Whitehead, S, Buccaneers
Whitehead may not be the modern safety in terms of coverage, however, he is very good at what he does and would bring a physical presence to the secondary. If they don't try to re-sign Edmunds, PFF projects White at 3 years for $18 million. FWIW, Edmunds is projected at 3 years, $19.5 million.

Love your mindset. And not that I agree with everyone on your list. But you get hopefully what the FO gets. That there is a need for a lot of upgrades. Not just one or two or three, etc. Last year they didn't check off all the boxes. Besides bad decisions the no decisions didn't do the team any favors either. That would pertain to completely addressing areas that obviously carry question marks. So what did you do but open the flood gates. To be honest that is the only thing that can make this team competitive again. To stockpile and create some competition. And not leave 7/8 million Bob Nuttingly on the table. You don't fortify sitting on your hands hoping the depth is good enough. Let me help you Steelers..... It isn't.

I'd love to see the Steelers get this kid to improve our ILB Position. I think he's plug & play type of guy that can be the guy we had all hoped Devin Bust would be. He's a tackling machine from the Atlanta Falcons....Foyesade Oluokun. I'm not even sure how you pronouce his name but the dude is exactly what you want at ILB. Dude had 192 tackles last season 102 solo tackles and he's very good in coverage something that is an absolute must for an ILB.

Probably be able to get him at a slightly higher price than we will pay Joe Schobert who's due almost $9 Million. I'm so sick and tired of seeing ILB on this team who make an average of 2 tackles per game! This dude is a tackling machine!

I had read a little on this guy as well and I can't remember if there was a "hitch" problem. I think attitude was in affect but I sure could be wrong. I be skip to maLou (happy) if they signed him because I too am sick of ILB only getting less than 5 tackles a game when they should be in the mid / high teens.

Bring him in as he will have more than any QB we trade draft capital to get this year.

We definately need a starting CENTER, draft or FA. Jones is in the budget pending on draft stratagy

I'd look to draft RT position in first three rounds. (preffer 2nd)

Allready have Joe Shobert, don't want to duplicate. This where you spend the MONEY and get the Atlanta Falcons kid. A big name FA

Definately a need as either one would help a whole bunch. Draft stratagy may deterine this but if can afford bring one in or similar

I think we should try to resign EDMONDS and I think we can get him for the 18mil 3 yr contract but I'd push to 4 if possible

GREAT post 448 and thank you for this and many others.

I just added my 28cents.

If i were gm it would be easily: devante adams! Adams you say! we can’t afford him!! We can’t afford not to sign him!! everyone is going on about how to replacing Ben… quite simply… you can’t. Better to get a player that allows you to refocus the offense, the team, and the draft. a player that allows you to maximize the talent you have. With Big Ben, it didn’t matter who the wrs, rbs, olmen were, he made them all better. You’re not going to sign amother Ben, or draft another Ben. Period. Not this year or probably next. Signing Adam refocuses the offense. Now you can sign or draft a qb that can “game manage” and just as Harris is coming up for new contract, adams contract will have completed. By that time you should have the qb position figured out. We can afford Adams… Johnson is going to ask for big money.. adams is 6-1 217 johnson 5-9 180 both had 170 targets but adams had more catches almost 500 more yards receiving… trade johnson, sign adams. bring in game manager at qb, sign a couple offensive lineman to go with the young guys and the offense is set for a few years. Then use the draft to build up the defense. Go Steelers!!

I'm looking to the TE and RB positions, as we need solid number 2 guys there. I'm looking at David Njoku and Mike Gesicki at TE and Marlon Mack and Chase Edmunds at RB. There are a bunch of good names in this thread already. We need to fill the roster the best we can in FA, maybe it'll soften the blow when they **** up the draft with a trade up

I'd look to draft RT position in first three rounds. (preffer 2nd)

I agree on RT in the second. That is the sweet spot if they're going to take one and there are 2-3 guys who could be there. However, I don't want to force the issue and would rather sign a guy who can start 1-2 full seasons if they don't draft one. I'm also a fan of Muma in the second round as my future ILB. I know ILB is a more important position than it was a decade ago, I just don't think it's quite in the bracket of "premium" yet and would rather spend big money on a premium position such as LT, EDGE, CB, or QB.

I can't remember how to spell it or pronounciate his name but the ILB FA from Atlanta, big cost on money but that is my BIG FA possibility.

I'm OK with anything to improve the "trench Warfare" aspect as well. WE difinately need a center and I hope current coaching doesn't feel like Green is the answer.

He isn’t a free agent, but the eagles were looking to move fletcher cox at the deadline for a third… if tuitt cuts out, id offer them a fourth and maybe a seventh for him.. i think his actual cap hit would be tiny
