Well, let's look at the coordinators Tomlin has hired. Keith Butler, Randy Fictner, and Matt Canada. All internal promotions because they're people he knows. OL coach leaves, he promotes the assistant OL coach. That OL coach leaves, he promotes the assistant OL coach again. That's a pattern that indicates he prefers people he knows and is not comfortable with new people that he doesn't know.

In the corporate world. They call that nepotism. It may work in some companies but it’s “obviously” not working with Tomlin. But again, this is just the football side of things.

Given today’s social circumstances and the Steelers brand/logo. Is Art concerned? Seems his Steelers still generate revenue to even make a Tomlin’s seat warm

Well, after the last three seasons, soon to be four, Art II has said he wants a better running game but I haven't seen that happen.

I'm sure behind the scenes he is active but visually to the public,......... not seeing much.

I'm guessing he is accepting the "injury / retirement / rookie / excuses which have been worn out by this coaching excuse staff.

And I believe Haley was a quality X and O guy but was a disaster as a people person. So if that is the best coordinator....... that says a lot.

Considering neither OC after Haley will be an NFL OC again, you can say neither were qualified for the position.

Which reminds me of the typical smooth talking businessman. I’ve realized the nfl is just a big corporation. Don’t get me wrong. I still root for the Steelers but I don’t get cooked up on wins or losses or get attached to players who don’t even know I exist lol.


As long as my team provides good unscripted entertainment that’s all I can ask from Art. If the product gets to the point where it truly is unwatchable and affects revenue then we can expect major changes and fist bump each other here. For now the standard is the standard

Tomlin will make NO phone calls. He will talk Butler into another couple years, promote from with-in and continue his 8-8-1 journey.


I'm a fully on board with the Munchak return and new DC provided he can run his un-interveined byt tomlin, scheme.

And the word is that Butler might not be on the sideline as he was positive. And Tomlin was talking about looking forward to the chess match again. Like WTF. They have referred to Keith Bultler and then panned to him while the defense is on the field and he was walking and talking to players. Like what the hell is going on here.

We are stuck with cool shades. They should clean with most coordinators and assistant coaches and put some fired HC in those spots. Wasn't Fangio a Defensive Guru?

I agree with this. Tomlin will stay but if the coordinators and some of the position coaches go as well, bring in some quality coaches. Yes, Art you have to pay them well but you get what you pay for. Some of these coordinators would do just fine. Zimmer was a really good defensive coordinator with the Bengals. Vic Fangio wasn’t bad either.

At least Nagy spent an entire off season trying to fix the kicking problem. You know, instead of trying to fix the offense so you weren't needing a field goal at the end of every game to win.

I thought Flores did a decent job besides being handcuffed with QB issues. 3 years you better bring your club a playoff appearance. Most clubs aren't the Steelers FO. That bill-acheat coaching tree doesn't come with Ernie obviously. Saying that I think the guy could excel given the right situation.

they reeled off a string of wins to finish 9-8 .like you said they had QB issues early part of the year. ........ remember the old days when you were like.... we have Tom Landry and the Cowboys, or Bill Walsh and the Niners....... not much in the long tenured department anymore from opponents
