I blame him for the line not really making significant progress. By hook or crook adjustments need to be made. Just not seeing those. I am not asking the Oline to be top 5. I am just asking the Oline not to be bottom 5.I don’t blame Klemm at all… he isnt a kent stephenson or Grimm or Munchak, his philosophy seems about the same as far as the aggressiveness, but even thise all time greats often needed more than a season to get a guy up to speed… and i mean im not sure anyone is fixing Green being undersized until he has an off-season to bulk up… i guess we can blame him for chuks being a chronic penalty hound… but again im not sure he is going to find anyone to get that madness rectified lol
That's why I get the big money.Holy **** that is creepy Ron. Cause I know you know.
I think the team didn't do a good job of evaluating who they had on the OL. They knew they needed a center and didn't draft one. They thought Chukks was better than he was. Banner wasn't sufficiently recovered from a knee and has hardly played at all. And DeCastro abruptly retired when they thought he'd be recovered and play one more year. We bag on Cool Shades and the coaches but I'm starting to think that Colbert has lost his mojo and it's time for him to get on with his life's work too.I think klemm is ok… I also think this fanbase is way too knee jerk… teams dont get built in a year… thats why the Browns sucked for so long… they blew things up way too quickly way too often
Klemm is an aggressive philosophy coach but honestly a line isn’t going to play aggressive until it’s comfortable and that just was going to take time…
Its why the off-season plan was ******* insane and stupid… we had an oc the past three years that completely deconstructed the offense… we replaced him with an oc that was going to totally overhaul the offense… that takes time with an experienced team… this is one of the youngest offenses in the league and would be the youngest if not for Ben… then they coupled him with an inexperienced line coach, the second most important position on the offensive staff… then gave that coach the least experienced offensive line in modern Steelers history… to compound that their actual plan at center was to use an undersized guard with a small amount of center experience as the starter… with no solid veteran option behind him …
His last five years of first rounders looks similar to Nolls last five… yeah they respectively nabbed Watt and Woodson, but there are too many-non impact players in that mixI think the team didn't do a good job of evaluating who they had on the OL. In other words, they didn't miss on the "can't miss' players, everyone else no so much. His last five years of first rounders looks similar to Nolls last five… yeah they respectively nabbed Watt and Woodson, but there are too many-non impact players in that mix
Not to absolve colbert but if your coach tells you that chuks is starting material and that banner with a one career start is your other Tackle, then you gotta trust his assessment of the players. If they see they aren't starring material then you gotta hit FA for at least one T, let both Chuk and Banner fight for the other spot.I think the team didn't do a good job of evaluating who they had on the OL. Add in strength and conditioning, not sure if that is under the GM or the HC but they need to get in better shape or stretch out or whatever so they cut down on the muscle pulls, and can generate more push on both the Oline and Dline. Not to absolve colbert but if your coach tells you that chuks is starting material and that banner with a one career start is your other Tackle, then you gotta trust his assessment of the players. Then comes the ****** scouting drafting a G to play C without prior experience instead of aggressively finding a true starting Center in free agency if they weren't getting one in the first couple of rounds. That's on the Oline coach, Head coach and colbert all together.
Finally the medical department, they screwed it up with decastro didn't they? No idea your Oline leader was retiring due to injuries?
after an autopsy, the corpse laying there without a brain in its skull is smarter than you.

You're right. The talent wasn't in place, so it isn't surprising the line wasn't good this year. What is disappointing is they showed no signs of improvement as a unit and Green arguably regressed throughout the season. I'm always amazed when I see any comments about the line playing well, because they aren't. The Steelers could legitimately enter this offseason with the goal of upgrading all five positions.
There is an embalming room scene in Netflix F is for Family you have to see Ron.That's why I get the big money.
We keep power tools in the embalming room.

Ben wouldn't tell us. He likes to be politically correct. He would just say he needs to be better. If you want finger pointing you have to ask the HC.THIS
Klemm hasn't shown any progression with this line, regardless of talent. Why can Najee have 100yard games and then regress to 19 ?
I realize the OC play calling is in play but the OL has declined or at best just stayed equal, treading just to keep above water (ask BEN what he truly thinks)
Salute the nation
In a poignant on field moment, Ben did tell us. "That's four!!" he yelled to Tomlin after the fourth time he was sacked by the Vikings. Ben might not indicate his frustration with this **** line publicly (except that one time), but you gotta believe he's letting Tomlin and Colbert know. And, with that, they were letting Klemm know. So Klemm, handed a lifeline by Lanning, better have taken it; or be out of work next year. The writing was on the wall.Ben wouldn't tell us. He likes to be politically correct. He would just say he needs to be better. If you want finger pointing you have to ask the HC.
I know they won’t, but they could. Even in your post, you have suggested possibly moving and shifting everyone but Dotson and that could be a realistic scenario moving into next year. They won't upgrade all 5 positions
Moore will be a tackle, left or right yet to be deterined.........(draft upgrade OT or FA)
Dotson will be back at guard
Green will be moved to gaurd (or should be)
CENTER upgraded through draft or FA
Oakorafor / Banner / (drafted OT or FA) all fight it out
For me I am looking for a C and RT upgrade. Replacing Turner. So yeah you want to bring in three guys. Or two if you draft a C in 1. Both lines should be addressed aggressively.I know they won’t, but they could. Even in your post, you have suggested possibly moving and shifting everyone but Dotson and that could be a realistic scenario moving into next year.
Moore will start at one tackle position for sure. He was probably a three-year developmental project who got thrust into the starting job too soon.
They desperately need an athletic guard. Green could fill that role. I just don’t know if he’ll ever be able to handle powerful IDL. I don’t like to view guys as a bust during a rookie season, I just don’t see him as the answer at center and will gladly admit if I’m wrong. Turner will be gone.
Okorafor is a free agent and really isn’t worth signing and Banner makes a lot of money for not playing. He’s got a great personality, but is he starting material?
I’d enter the offseason with the goal of making a Jeff Hartings-type signing on the OL and plan to invest a high pick on a guy.
90% certain they won't "bring in" someone. The Assistant-OL coach has previous experience as an NFL OL Coach. That'll be good enough for them to pay lip service to looking for someone only to turn around and just give him the job. This could be an indication that Canada is coming back. The blocking is very important to Canada’s scheme and if Klemm’s style doesn’t mesh and they are keeping Canada then it’s best they part ways and bring in an OL coach whose style fits what Canada wants.
