Does anyone know if Munchack is under contract next year? with all the openings in the HC position coming up, I would like to know if he will come back next year.
thanks and happy holidays.

I'm pretty sure he is under contract. Plus, I can't see him getting another HC position anytime soon with all the other higher profile OCs and DCs around the league. I could be wrong about his demand, but I'd hope we have him for a long time to come as I still think that was one of the most important hires this off-season.

Usually position coaches don't sign one year contracts. I can't find an answer to the number of years left online.

I do know that any assistant coach can interview for any job in the NFL that gives them a promotion. So Munchak can interview for any DC, OC or HC position without penalty, and the Steelers don't have a track record of standing in anyone's way to get a promotion.

Personally, I hope he sticks around.

Not sure, but I remember an article earlier this year where he stressed being here for awhile. Obviously things can change when a head coaching opportunity presents itself, but he's been tremendous.

He'd be on my short list for any hire if I were an NFL GM / Owner...

Considering he turned that sad sack bunch into the #1 offense in the league, I'd hire him in a heartbeat............

..To coach OL. I don't think he's a head coach. I'm glad to have him here, I hope he doesn't leave but would understand if he did.

all I can say about munchak is that this guy is loyal. Don't know his age, but he's been in the league since I was in jr high. I. Now in my 40s and this is his first season away from Houston/Tennessee.

Try to keep the man at all cost.

Freakin' success will do that to a team. You do really well and the bottom feeders come sniffing around your pen to see whatcha got. Wish the Rooneys could shoot the vermin.

He was the single most important pickup in the offseason for the Steelers. Certainly hope he's here for a couple more years.

Assistants and coordinators typically get three year deals but they can't be blocked from interviewing for another job if it is a promotion.

Sometimes men realize that - even though they can get promoted - that they are happier at their lower gig, such as LeBeau not wanting a head coaching gig after Cinci. He is more comfortable as a DC in Pgh. Hopefully, Munch feels the same way as OLC for a few seasons, any how. He has said many times how fortunate he feels to have this gig in Pgh.

He apparently is a very good OL coach, but his head coaching gig was kind of a disaster. I don't think teams will have him high on their list of candidates.

I'm glad he is here, and I hope he stays a while.

True, he was with the Oilers/Titans forever but as a HC the arrow was pointing down.

Haven't seen his name mentioned yet...thankfully.

The Titans wanted to retain him, but he wouldn't replace his assistants. Maybe his arrow was pointing down, but he still could be in TN if he wasn't so loyal. Great trait to have.
