OK with this but I think they need to go a little deeper into the current coaching staff. The assistant(s) need to be magnifying glass looked at as well.

You clean house and the new regime usually goes with their own wants. Maybe 1 or 2 is retained.

This Steel House needs cleaned and rebuilt. Hate to be the dead horse beater, but it is time. Things have run their natural course. I would hope they can team together to recapture "The Standard"

Yes, I know it's going to take a few years of being God awful. Oh it's here and that arrow is pointing hard down. I've seen nothing in 12+ years to make me think this ship isn't sinking bad and they're not capable of fixing it with the staff they have. It's beyond stale and extremely predictable.

The only thing that joins this team with actual great Steelers teams of years past is the colors.

Need to sign ILB and OG in free agency
Draft; OT, CB, NT S RB OLB
Bring back Juju at team-friendly loyalty deal
Ben arguably should've been finished after last season. This year is without a doubt his last, so enjoy it.

Bush isn't going anywhere. The Steelers aren't going to release a top-10 pick before his contract is up.

Edmunds is an UFA. He isn't too bad of a player and I'd bring him back on the right deal.

Ebron is an UFA. The hate for him is much more here than it is on the team. They genuinely seem to like the guy a lot and he produced well in his first year. The Steelers seem set with Freiermuth and Gentry.

The Steelers don't fire assistant coaches, so Canada will be back. He has a bottom 5 QB and OL to work with, so it isn't like there are many tools there. I'll also add I didn't want any internal promotions and would've rather seen the Steelers look elsewhere. I wouldn't be disappointed if they start fresh next year.

I wouldn't release Tuitt. If he's ready to go I welcome him back with open arms. He's very good when on the field and it isn't like they'll be hurting for cap space.

Check out how much they make. Also who paid Scobert 9+ million a year? None of these guys are worth their contact. The ax should fall giving us lots of cap space. Do it in 2022.

I thought Ben and Ju-Ju are already on voidable contracts after this year anyhow? No sense cutting Bush because his whole contract amount would then be dead money so might as well keep him as a somewhat serviceable backup with a $3M salary and $3M bonus vs $6M dead money IMO. Tuitt is a whole other story and might be a medical retire if he truly is having difficulty with his family loss. I don't understand the point of this post?????

By the title it said must be gone so realistic or not I will stick with that. Colbert,Tomlin,Canada, and Butler. Time for a reboot.
Slash not certain, but seems like you are where I was last January. Burn it down. Saw a glimmer when I thought maybe Klemm could coach. Apparently that was short lived.

I have been leaning that way for awhile it was just an unrealistic want knowing the FO wouldn't blow it up. So I concentrated on what I thought would give us the second best chance to thrive. Within the roster. Tombert's bad decision making mixed with bad overall coaching will handcuff this team until both step down. I wonder how long it will take Rooney to pull the trigger. Probably won't be with the quickness it deserves unfortunately.

If I honestly thought there was a sliver of hope this team could win a championship with Tombert I'd be all in. I think people overemphasized Tomlin winning with Cowher's players. I think Tombert are more than capable of getting quality players to win a championship. Where I think they fall short is assistant coaches and coordinators. When Tomlin took over he had Lebeau and though Bruce Arians would have got Ben killed, he could run an unpredictable offense. When those guys were gone and Tomlin himself lacks chops it'd been nothing but 8 wins 10plus and some big regular seasons but totally out maneuvered in the playoffs. There is simply no chance you are going to win a championship. I came to that conclusion after the killer bs and when they basically had a 1st round talent at every position on defense.

Yeah, and in 2023 (only a season away) the Steelers have $140M of cap space. I think the highest in the league (or second at worst) and that's with Watt's contract already absorbed. The Steelers have an opportunity for a complete reset. I'm ok with a down year this and next to rebuild this team. Even grab a couple high draft picks. The Steelers are not the Browns. It's not always gloom and doom....you can't have a non-stop SB caliber team every year.

Thing is do you have the confidence that this installment of brain trusts can reset effectively? I have no problem with down years that have arrows pointing up. Unfortunately this team isn't showing that capability.

That's the $140M question. You're going to have a couple contracts of internal players you want to keep like Minkah, but my concern is the Steelers never seem to get those top flight FA's that are available. I'm hoping they don't drain their cap space funding on guys already on the team who we know are trash (Bush). That is my main concern. I'm ready for the great reset after Ben and hoping they are not too willing to keep their own if they can improve.

You cannot build a team on FA's. That has proven itself over time. Supplement yes. Build no. And with no starting QB you have to realize that you either suck at that position or expect to pony up at least 20m. The most impacted move they could make with the cap room is trading away picks for Wilson or Rogers and I'm a hard no on that.

I know we don't know the inside on Tuitt but if he was going to be released I'd hope some sort of trade would happen. Bottom line is he is needed desperately and NO ONE is saying jack **** on his plight. When asked tuesday, Coach Tolin's answer was "When he's close we will let you know".

If Tuitt is a dead horse topic it would be nice to know the exact reasoning he isn't on the field of play.

Absolutely not. It doesn't matter what cap space they have. There's no fire or physicality. You can't just slap a Steeler helmet on,then turn into an aggressive football super hero.

You have to draft guys who fit the mold, then develop them from day one. They have to come into a situation that says these guys play sound serious physical football.

What we're getting is soft, disinterested and they generally look lost.

As Ryan Clark said Pittsburgh Steeler Football isn't about fun. They certainly had fun smashing people and making the other team tapout.

I can take losing when the other guys leave battered and bruised. People playing Pittsburgh should be going **** this is going to suck. The ice tanks should be overflowing with people.

I see plenty of teams playing physical right now....**** everyone looks more physical than the Steelers right now.

Unfortunately they'll have to suck for a few years to get real change. Then you'll have to root out the soft slackers and rebuild your team with guys who play to win, play physical and for each other.

It's not like they don't have the blueprint in-house. They walk past 6 shiny silver blueprints all the time.

This going soft didn't happen overnight, so getting back won't be an easy short task either.

Who's going to do it? This staff sure isn't.

That physicality is one of the reasons they drafted Greene. He is very athletic and likes to try and bury his opponent. He is also very fiery and we've seen that multiple times this year. Sure, he is struggling with bull rushes this year but that can be corrected during the offseason. He needs to gain strength and work on his hands and his technique.

Even with Bush (similar to Ben last year), he spent the entire year prior to the season rehabbing. He wasn't really working on his craft and improving. He then had groin and/or hammy injuries at the beginning of the season. He may be getting tired like Ben's arm did last year after doing so much rehab the year prior to get back to playing. Hopefully, he will work on his craft this offseason and make a dramatic leap.

I think we have a handful of guys that could fit that category, which will help but we still have a lot of holes to fill.

Ahem, Rudolph is set to make 4 million next year. Cut him and save 3M. Wave goodbye to Derek Watt's 4.7M as well. We could have a lot cap space.

Vet ILB

bring in good tier 1 CB to replace haden or resign him 1 yr alog with Ebron, Resign Turner 1.
Seriously need to sign an established slot CB maulet not Layne or Norwood are fixture solutions. Desir at best is a 3 who should not be on the outside.
Trade for jimmy G and draft Pickett, let Mason go try seing on another vet min deal if Haskins can be anything. RB ballagage gone, maybe time for Snell as well, need a established a scat back.

Yep, and if I was a player I'd sure want to be a part of the 7th and actually work for it. But, that's just me...I was taught as a child to work hard.
