Why I question Tomlin as a head coach.

Sorry, but I have never liked Tomlin - thought he was a terrible hire from the beginning! I saw right through his total line of "intellectual" bullshit (I had a manager that was exactly like him and a total dumbass on the job - just like Tomlin). I was completely awe struck that he actually won a Super Bowl, but he settled into what I knew he would be right after Cowher's players started to drop off and retire. That **** stick has taken a HOF QB and wasted the last 11 years treading water, all the while making substandard football intellectual fans think he was/is awesome! He is one of the most fundamentally inept football coaches in the league and all the **** he says (excuses he uses) bear that out! He's a total football moron!
Think about it, the one SB win he has was the result of essentially 2 incredible plays, Harrison's insane pick 6 just before the half, and the tap by Holmes to go ahead in the 4th.
Without those 2 plays, they lose.
Tomlin is an average to above average coach, that has accumulated 150+ wins because he's been allow to stay in his position for so long. Stubborn, can't seen to adjust in real time, hasn't a good grasp of time management or when to throw a red flag. And I guess what bothers me the most is his insistence to hire assistants that are less intelligent than he is.

Keith Butler / Randy Fitchner / Danny "Bubbles" Smith are all long time friends of coach Mike Tomlin, I mean back to college days friends and I feel they got / held / holding their respective jobs out of friendship more than accomplishent.

Of the three, Bustler is the closest to legitimate but clouded due to Tomlin's meddling.

Bubbles continously fails yet has a job. I understand STs very well and yes continous turn over on personal but his gaffs are to many and to 101 type.

Randy Fitchner is self explanatory and finally gone. Even as QB coach he was questionable causing rif between Ben and Haley.

So yes, hire dumber than you so you keep up the "smart" appearance or not replace due to W-H-Y.? Dick Lebeau & Mike Muncheck & Todd Haley all superior coaches who outshined while here.

I'm pretty sure he's losing a lot of sleep over what the fans think of him.
No. We know he isn’t, but I don't know about if you are losing sleep. You are always there for his defense. Whether the criticism is justified or not.

And you can take one play from most of Belicheat's SB victories and he could be defeated in ALL of his SB appearances. Tomlin was our HC when we won the SB. Give him that at least. He let his players win the game for everyone instead of getting in their way as he seems to do now all of the time.

Yep Drink! This guy does absolutely nothing exceptional. Nothing! He’s been stocked over the years with excellent talent and started off with team one season removed from a world championship and a young QB just coming into his prime. He had two excellent coordinators, plenty of quality players and his job was to maintain. Instead we got bs like unleash hell, back to the lab, we don’t make adjustments players have to execute better, undisciplined players, almost tripping Jacoby Jones in Baltimore on the sideline, constantly playing down to opponents losing to weaker teams, looking past the Jaguars to the Pats in the playoffs in 2018 which should gotten him fired alone, mishandling free agents like LaGarrett Blount, Mel Ingram, Derek Watt, and on and on. The guy will never ever get this team back to another SB and anyone thinking differently is dillusional. Sorry’

I wont blame Tomlin for next year because we have too may free agents and a lot of needs, however the past few years is a different story!

OHHHH, I think you exaggerate just a little. There are times when I criticize Tomlin myself. But, if I DID always come to his defense, the pressing question would be .... It "obviously" bothers you or "something of that nature" ..... Why? Never mind ... I really don't care.

3-6 in the playoffs since 2011 and hasn't won a playoff game in 5 years now. #Winning
Had Jesse James' TD not been overturned - the Steelers win against the *'s in the playoffs.

Regardless of the season's outcome - how many Steeler HC's have won 11 in a row???

I wonder if we'll get another haterade thread next week???

Have to disagree here. Tomlin is an exceptional talker. His press conferences are epic. I'd imagine that's how his interview for the HC position went too. He baffled them with bullshit and got the job in spite of having very little coaching resume. It shows up at every turn how unprepared he still is most of the time.

And in those three wins, two were against backup QB’s and the third the Bungles self-destructed in the last four minutes.

So in other words we have been mediocre for a very long time. All while the Pats***** tied the Steelers for superbowl wins.

Really tired of excuses. When does that next step come? Your HOF qb is heading on out soon and we've squandered his prime years.

Oh well. At least we will all have a ton to ***** about soon....err more so than normal..lol

Good points, however, we all wish those 11 in a row came at the end of the season rather than the beginning.

Would home field have helped. Sure. Would have beat them. C'mon. The Pats in the playoffs are a completely different animal. I'm not sure Tomlin always plays checkers and you are talking about the grand chess master.

Bingo. That 11-0 start last year was a weak 11-0, I think we all knew that, because other teams had starters out with the 'Rona.
Everyone in every job has their ceiling. They can only be so good even at their maximum performance. Some peoples' ceilings are higher than others'.
Now that the team is all his, we have seen that Tomlin's ceiling is 10 or 11 wins and a first round playoff loss. That's simply as good as he can be, obviously.

I don't hate Coach Tomlin at all. I do look at the reality of things such as Jamarkus Russell beating us and being a double digit underdog at the time. I also admire his 11 game win streak but most here knew that was on borrowed time. I also wonder when was the last time we "blew out" any underdog or legit team ?

The PITTSBURGH STEELERS known for their toughness have become a weak un-fundamental team. Every team has injury to deal with so not an excuse.

Has Coach Tomlin aquired talent, hell yes as a matter of fact one of the MOST consistantly talented teams over all of the last 10+ years.

Do I want him to turn things around, hell yes but do I expect it to actually happen, use to but not so much anymore.

Tomlin and the Steelers have never beaten Belicheat and the Pats in a game that mattered, either regular season or playoffs.

I want him to be great. I want a lot of things. I've probably reached the point where my feelings can best be summed up by The Rolling Stones.

I can’t remember the last time we beat a team decisively that we should have beaten. We are champs and stealing a loss from the jaws of victory.

2004 Bill Cowher with a rookie Ben Roethlisberger won the last 14 games of the season plus one playoff game. fifteen wins in a row.

My former co-worker, slightly outranking me was an excellent bullshitter. He is intelligent in some ways, and not so much in others. I often had to help him out of a serious jam, but later found out I didn't get credit. He did manage to really impress the big boss with his ability to use his mouth and that's what mattered. Unfortunately, I don't possess the ability to think/speak quickly. Good communication skills go a long, long way in getting hired/retained/raises.

something else to be amazed by. Ben wins his first sixteen regular season starts and is 5-1 in the playoffs in his first two years with a superbowl win. those numbers will never be matched let alone broken. if it hadn't been for those cheating ******** in new england he may very well have been 7-0 in the playoffs with two rings his first two years. simply mind boggling

EXCELLENT and that was done with a rookie QB, a ROOKIE......... let that sink in. Cowher's teams were tough both physicaly (beat the **** outA yaz) and mentally.

Nail meet hammer, I'd like to knuckle sandwich the BShitter for stealing the thunder.

I've always said "if I can't dazzle yaz with my brilliancy, I baffle yaz with y bullshit"

Wasn't that the same exact team of his that didn't even make the playoffs the following year after winning it? Or maybe that was the year before when they barely edged their way into the playoffs as a 6th seed and won it all I don't know. But I don't think his teams where that great to be honest. Not too mention the year before they even drafted Ben, they went 6-10 to even get Ben as the 11th overall pick... Cowhers teams was pretty weak honestly.. they really didn't start showing their true potential until years later after he already left.
