So as I lay here recovering from a recurring diverticulitis flair up, one that decided to hospitalize me past the beginning of the Panther game. I ponder questions that I know my diehard yinzers have answers to. More answers than the backups had in that last eyesore of a preseason game. So to no further delay let me get into the meat and potatoes sprinkled with bacon.

The Steelers O-line has more questions than answers.

We saw an O-line that spent little time together as a unit. Rotating parts which you would expect a roller coaster of mixed results. Which is what we witnessed. Potential mixed with up and down play.

Before I leave the O-line one more thing to mull over. With so many question marks Steelers should keep 10 O-linemen.

Finney and Coward and Hass, I know would be thankful as we might be thankful one more body is available if one of those injury question marks becomes injured again.

The Steelers primary nickel corner is not on the roster.

Two injured one which was put on IR. A rotation that would make the earths axis change course. Ok maybe not that extreme but perhaps the Steelers should change their course from what is available on the roster.

Isaiahh Loudermilk showed enough to think he will eventually be a starter.

Some of the show was against backups so I always keep that in mind. Never the less he flashed some potential. Enough that perhaps he justified that draft pick trade. Perhaps that should be the question but that is likely a wait and see much like the question. But this is about your perception on his future.

With Tuitt having an undisclosed injury and dealing with a tragedy, Buggs AND Carlos Davis should make the roster to secure depth. Even if it means keeping 26 on defense.

We can't count on Tuitt being ready game 1. Even if he starts you would expect a rotational situation based on lack of preseason play. I thought Buggs run blocking improved even if ever so slightly this offseason.

There will be at least one surprise cut come final 53.

Some might debate what an actual surprise would be, I define it as a player most peeps would initially think would make the roster. Feel free to throw a name out if yinz froggy!

Steelers will keep 4 running backs rostered.

Snell yeah? or did that injury seal his fate? I tell you I haven't forgot when Tomlin mentioned his short yardage capability. If that is enough of a niche perhaps he gets a nod. Saying that I thought Ballage showed some tough running which made me think he is capable in short yardage situations.

Jamir Jones should get rostered over Quincy Roche.

My perception is Jamir has done enough to stick. But this seems to be two dogs and one bone situation if we are to believe Marsh is safe. In a perfect world both would make the final 53 but nothing is perfect in our football world or outside of that world for that matter, Mike Tomlin-obviously.

Justin Layne will make the final 53 somewhat surprisingly.

This might be partially due to what isn't on the roster compared to what he has done to stay.

Steelers will go as far as the O-line and secondary allow them to.

I think the consensus would be this is the teams greatest weakness. Some might say playoff coaching, where others might say injuries factoring. But regardless BigBen needs to be standing and healthy to achieve anything. Plus the secondary has to be able to bend without breaking.

My two and a half cents:

Another season is among us and I am excited to see some football. It looks like a solid rookie class and I think we will see some solid contributions, hopefully more ups than downs in play!

The Steelers O-line has more questions than answers.

Buy: There just isn't much high end talent on the offensive line right now and they haven't worked together long enough to feel confident as a unit. Dotson was expected to be the only sure bet entering the season and he's demonstrated that. Questions marks at every other position, including a huge one at left tackle.

Before I leave the O-line one more thing to mull over. With so many question marks Steelers should keep 10 O-linemen.

Buy: I don't know if they will, it just seems like the right move. Moore has looked good in his time and Haeg is a lock with four tackles on the roster (unless they look outside). I don't think Finney is particularly good, but neither is Coward. You keep them both as insurance just in case one truly stinks if called upon.

The Steelers primary nickel corner is not on the roster.

Sell: Good cornerbacks don't get released and the Steelers don't have much in terms of 2022 draft picks to trade. They're gonna role with what they have.

Isaiahh Loudermilk showed enough to think he will eventually be a starter.

Buy: It's very early and defensive lineman in this system take up to three years to prove to be starter capable, but with the questions surrounding Tuitt, he may be forced into action early and this could accelerate his developmental process.

With Tuitt having an undisclosed injury and dealing with a tragedy, Buggs AND Carlos Davis should make the roster to secure depth. Even if it means keeping 26 on defense.

Buy: The Steelers like to rotate their defensive line, so they do not want to be thin in this area.

There will be at least one surprise cut come final 53.

Sell: There is no one on the roster bubble that would truly surprise me if they're cut.

Steelers will keep 4 running backs rostered.

Sell: As I said in another thread, you didn't draft Harris in the first round to give carries to other running backs. Snell offers nothing different than what they have on the roster and I would probably keep Samuels over him if given the choice just because of the diversity of the the skill set. Either way, the Steelers should only keep three backs.

Jamir Jones should get rostered over Quincy Roche.

Sell: He's proved it on the field and I am hoping we are overrating Roche's potential like we sometimes do. You don't like to give up on pass rushers early.

Justin Layne will make the final 53 somewhat surprisingly.

Buy: I'm not sure if it's a surprise. They just don't have a lot of depth.

Steelers will go as far as the O-line and secondary allow them to.

Buy: Normally you'd say they'll only go as far as Ben will take them, but as we saw last year, Ben can't do it alone anymore. If they lean on his arm to throw the ball 50 times a game, forget about it. This team needs to have a balanced attack, especially as we get into the tail end of the season.

Buy....Starters didnt play much together so hard to say what we got.

Before I leave the O-line one more thing to mull over. With so many question marks Steelers should keep 10 O-linemen.
Buy the more the merrier
The Steelers primary nickel corner is not on the roster.

Hopefully buy, but probably sell. Hardly any depth or even starters at CB definitely a big issue

Isaiahh Loudermilk showed enough to think he will eventually be a starter.

Buy

With Tuitt having an undisclosed injury and dealing with a tragedy, Buggs AND Carlos Davis should make the roster to secure depth. Even if it means keeping 26 on defense.

Buy, both Heyward and Tuitt struggled at the end of last year. Need people to rotate to hopefully keep them fresher and stay healthy

There will be at least one surprise cut come final 53.

Buy...Usually a surprise cut or 2

Steelers will keep 4 running backs rostered.

Sell I think we keep Harris, Ballage, and McFarland
Jamir Jones should get rostered over Quincy Roche.

Buy

Justin Layne will make the final 53 somewhat surprisingly.

Buy due to lack of CBs

Steelers will go as far as the O-line and secondary allow them to.

Definite buy. Offense needs to stay on the field to keep the D fresher. The way I look at it we currently only have 2 solid CBs. Teams can spread us out and pick us apart. Hopefully someone takes a huge step up or we find a couple CBs on the scarp pile.

Dang, sorry to hear about the flare-up, Slash, hope you're better and outta there soon

1. The Steelers Oline is extremely young and inexperienced especially for each in their position… they also don’t have a true stud anchor anywhere on the team yet… this has the feel of a line that doesn’t gel right away

fortunately the shift to aggressive drive blocking might just let individuals shine in that department… i am virtually petrified about pass blocking though

2. i think they have a lot of flexibility at the tackle position. Im not thrilled with depth at guard… centers are all undersized… if you can add one big cut to this group at the expense of another position you do it

3 I think in a worse case scenario Sutton becomes the slot cb and Pierre starts outside… i wonder if Brooks gets healthy can they outright cut him and bring him back?
in any case several of the young cbs just need more growth and they might fit here great… i think they probably have more pressing concerns but if anyone got cut and comes cheap id go for it

4. Loudermilk showed acton of raw talent and i get Aaron smith vibes from him… better pick than id have made there

5. buggs and davis should make it for certain… Buggs was in the doghouse once but he has improved by leaps and bounds… we are set at DL

6. I don’t think anyone vested is getting cut… maybe a second tier guy like snell or Wormley… maybe they keep berry over harvin but I don’t think you are going to see any of the top 2 Qbs, top 4 wrs, projected starting olinemen, top 3 tes, or top 3 at any of the defensive positions cut… there is maybe, maybe a small outside chance Spillane gets the axe if they prefer an outside ilb as the top guy…

7. Rbs are a dime a dozen… id trade the backup you can get the most value for… send samuels to the Pats… he fits for them… then again the rule of thumb is always keep an extra guy in a position with a rookie starter… so i guess you can go either way

8. Jones and Roche deserve a spot over special teams marsh… who is just a guy at his official position

9. Layne makes splash plays so they keep him unless some big name shakes loose

10. if tge oline or secondary aren’t gelled and performing at a high level by game 5 or 6 we will have a losing season

the secondary is going to get a bump from the pass rush though

We saw an O-line that spent little time together as a unit. Rotating parts which you would expect a roller coaster of mixed results. Which is what we witnessed. Potential mixed with up and down play.

As long as this group can be average on run blocking, the team will have a lot of success.

Before I leave the O-line one more thing to mull over. With so many question marks Steelers should keep 10 O-linemen.

Finney and Coward and Hass, I know would be thankful as we might be thankful one more body is available if one of those injury question marks becomes injured again.

I think 9 is the limit

The Steelers primary nickel corner is not on the roster.

Snell and a 4th for WJ III

The Steelers have some money to spend, hopefully they can find a corner before week 1

Isaiahh Loudermilk showed enough to think he will eventually be a starter.

Perhaps that should be the question but that is likely a wait and see much like the question. But this is about your perception on his future.

Not sure why cope keeps ignoring this kid? He seems to have a high motor and I think he will develop into a solid player

With Tuitt having an undisclosed injury and dealing with a tragedy, Buggs AND Carlos Davis should make the roster to secure depth. Even if it means keeping 26 on defense.

One of the reasons you can't keep 10 OL,

There will be at least one surprise cut come final 53.

Some might debate what an actual surprise would be, I define it as a player most peeps would initially think would make the roster. Feel free to throw a name out if yinz froggy!

Yep TJ, he has done absolutely nothing this preseason.

I think Snell makes it, JaySam will be the odd man out

Jamir Jones should get rostered over Quincy Roche.

My perception is Jamir has done enough to stick. But this seems to be two dogs and one bone situation if we are to believe Marsh is safe. In a perfect world both would make the final 53 but nothing is perfect in our football world or outside of that world for that matter, Mike Tomlin-obviously.

THis will be a tough choice, but I think Roche gets the spot

Justin Layne will make the final 53 somewhat surprisingly.

This might be partially due to what isn't on the roster compared to what he has done to stay.

unless they pick up someone else, layne will be on the team

Steelers will go as far as the O-line and secondary allow them to.

Super Bowl Baby.....baring Ben going done they should have a good season..................**** the naysayers
