I just saw a youtuber saying it won't be till after Friday. Who knows...

It would be nice if the guy would simply sign the contract so he can start practicing with his teammates.

I figured but hopefully they locked him up for 5 or more years so we don’t have to deal with this again lol.

It'll be great to get this deal done and good for Watt becoming the highest paid defender in the league. Although you would've liked to see him out there, it gave the opportunity for Highsmith to shine without offenses focusing on Watt and Ingram to get acclimated to the defense.

He will be the highest paid defender until the next big contract in the league. Congrats to him for getting that bag, but it will be pretty short lived.

He'll hold it at least for a year. No other big name D players up for extension on his or near his level.

5 years, $150 million but his signing bonus will be low at only $50 million with a $25 million roster bonus after year 1 or 2.

Did yinz read this somewhere or are you just projecting?

Dulac on Sirius now. Saying the same. Watt to be signed after the last preseason game. Does not expect prior ala Hines who had the fans erupt when he walked out and was signed. Said still 16 days and Watt is more than in shape and said his regiment is insane and specimen and could tell his influence along with Ingram being such a team player has helped Hightower make huge strides.

Wasn’t the slow pace that watt wanted a 100 gauranteed so is it going about 50 signing bonus vans roster bonus year 2 and year 3 another 25?

Shameless plug and an obvious shill for this "great" contributor to SteelerNation.com about T.J. Watt Contract.

Support Steeler Nation by clicking the links on that and this one by some "Diamond Dave wannabe" about Watt deal may be close.

Both touched on this long before CBS did.

He should have been DPOY last year, so why not?

Actually,........ I think last TWO years.

I first thought it would be done for friday announcement but they are waiting until MONDAY so as NOT to steal attention from the guys trying to make the team. TJ may cost a lot this year but like many have said......... in a coule of years it will be a steal.

I'm convinced Watt would have won the award (not that he shouldn't have) last year if he managed to pick up that fumble vs. Washington and run it back for score. Had he have done it, Steelers win that game, go 12-0 and secure the AFCN. These voters love "splash" plays. Consistent and dominant as he was, he did not have an explicit play that was either late in game or led to defensive TD. Closest was the sack vs. Colts in their red zone which led to our only 1st half score and 7-7 game, but was only in 1st quarter.

Harrison literally changed the outcomes of 2 games with sacks by generating defensive scores in 2008, strip sacking Flacco led to Woodley TD, safety was margin in 11-10 win vs. Chargers - add to it sack ended Jaguars chance of comeback and pair of strip sacks broke a close game vs. Patriots into blowout win.

Polamalu in 2010 impacted the outcome of 5 games. Ended 2 drives with redzone INTs, ensured OT with INT on Matt Ryan with minute left, sealed AFCN with strip sack on Flacco that led to TD and pick 6 broke open a tough scoring day vs. Bengals - bittersweet play if ever was one, because he injured his Achilles on that dive for TD, costing him next 2 games and wasn't same rest of year.

Fact remains, Aaron Donald had no signature plays either and vanished in December - so it was the "anti-Steelers" bias at it again. We've already had more DPOY winners than anyone else, so some voters already made up their mind before the season ended.

Man...this **** is taking forever.
Yep. Would love to see what contracts look like language wise from today compared to 10, 20 or even 30 years ago.
