I actually watched that show a few nights ago with the wife. About 10 minutes in I'm like...is that Deebo? ****! It is Deebo!

There's blame on both sides though IMO. Harrison didn't handle it professionally at all. That said, I'm over it and really couldn't care less what he's doing now. Go get yours, Deebo.

Setting aside everything not sure he is going to have a long career in acting. Something with his voice. He would be better in a one or two words movie/tv series where he kicks everyone's ***. No worries looking at the preview he won't be alone in regards to a bad performance. ****** acting good and plenty.

I tried to watch it. I tried to like it. I failed. Miserably. Couldn't make it halfway through the episode

And they weren't willing to risk slowing his development even more by giving his time to Deebo. Who, behind the scenes was skipping practice, sleeping in meetings and generally being an ***. This is a classic example of whatever the HC does is wrong. Had he catered to Deebo, and there was a leak about Deebo's behavior, folks would have been up in arms. He didn't cater to Deebo and some folks are still up in arms.

As Steelworth said, there is blame on both sides. I believe Deebo was not getting the playing time that Shades promised him and also he could have been a team guy and handled it better. But I would not keep trotting Durpee or anyone else out there to "develop". That's what practice is for. Sunday is for winning games and you put the best players on the field. Again, at that time Durpee was showing all the signs of being another Tombert bust at LB.

And Harrison was better? Besides one semi-outburst in N.E., what exactly did he do that showed he was a better player than Dupree at that time? Nada, nothing, Zilch. He was terrible in N.E. If he was still at that time anything remotely like the Deebo that you're thinking, they would have brought him back the next year. Didn't happen.
So, if your choice is to play a past his prime old guy, or a first round pick you want to develop, hope develops ... I'm playing the youngster.
 
Also, what was that for Dupree? Year two? For a guy that everyone knew or was told would need time to develop because he had never received proper coaching at the position? And then everyone pretty much acknowledges that Peezy was not a good coach. So he still had not received proper coaching at the position. At that time, I didn't see a bust. I saw a guy with the talent to do the job, but who needed to be prepped properly.
