James Washington Requests Trade

If he wants to make any money next year in FA, his heart better be into it during any and all opportunities.
100%. We put too much into some of that ****. They all play for the cash in the end. He wants a good contract next year. You will get his all.

JW wants out because he knows he's not going to get the touches on our team to get paid next year as a FA. He is having a lot of trouble getting open in the pro level, and his yards per snap numbers are abysmal. I also don't think we'd lose much if he goes. Anthony Johnson can immediately fill his role, plus he plays ST. Something Wash does not do.

If he wants out, it's time to move on. I'd love to try and trade for a backup TE instead of low draft pick(s). We are thin AF at TE. A good blocker that is a solid pass catcher would be a win for trading Wash.

Ebron, Freiermuth, Radar/Gentry is about as good of depth that any team should expect at tight end. The team could use help at OT, S, or CB.

I disagree. Gentry and Rader can be upgraded. Ebron is having elbow issues and that bothers me, because he had elbow issues all last season. If he's out, I'm not as comfortable with Gentry or Rader as the #2 guy.

JW has been a quality character guy, hard worker (working out at his TX ranch in the offseason), and I always felt that playing with his fellow OSU alum Mason would get him many balls his way. It just hasn't materialized, for whatever reason, and the emergence of Chase and Diontae has affected his # of touches. Perhaps a parting of ways, if it makes sense for both parties, is best. But it'd be great if he were to stay, as I think he adds value to the WR corps.

Do you have any particular player in mind that might be tradeable from that team's stand point, just curious. I like this idea a lot, player for player.

I keep him unless someone offers a 4/5. Or swap him for a T or CB.

I like this idea as well, value for value. You two have incredible minds .............................. I'll leave it at that 😜

Each year, they picked someone to move ahead of Washington. Last year, he was relegated to our No. 4 WR. When he did get in the games, which wasn't much, he performed and was very reliable, especially compared to our other guys. The game he was in when Diontae got benched in the 1st half, he looked very good. It was late in the year when Ben commented on Washington and it didn't really get him much more playing time. ****, they put Ray-ray in for gadget plays instead of Washington and Ray-ray isn't even close to the WR Washington is. Washington worked hard every offseason and improved but never really got much of a chance after his rookie year. If Diontae keeps dropping the ball, we will need Washington. Right now, we have no one that has shown they can be our No. 3 WR, if needed and Washington certainly can.

I just think it's a lot to ask to go three deep at a position. That is a luxury that not many teams have.

Rader looked good last night, I have to disagree on this one. I want a decent pick.

Washington is a lot more talented than many fans give him credit for.

He shows the ability to go open deep and break tackles after the catch.

I want them to keep him for 2021, but I would not be shocked if he went somewhere else and had a 1000 yard season.

The Steelers are just pretty loaded at WR and like the other guys more.

Tomlin see something he does not like, so Washington will not get the time he wants on the field.

Give me a 4th or he isnt traded. Rather have Washington as a high caliber backup when injuries happen than a 5th or worse, anyway he is gone next season and we might get a comp pick out of him.

The team invested a 2nd round pick on him, you want the guy? Pay for him, he still is under contract for the season.

no one is trading a playable offensive lineman for a receiver at James Washington's level. Put that out of your mind if you are hoping. Receivers like Washington are largely a dime a dozen. You might get a 5th or 6th That is it.

I think Ben may talk to him to say let me get back thier and you know I trust you. If he does well he goes via FA for say 4-5 mill a year in march . if we trade him I think the Wr rotation is then

Jhonson
Claypool
JUJU
Ebron

you could flip Jhonson back n forth from playing on the outside to inside

I want James Washington to stay this season. it will be his best chance to show case. He is but one play away from major role change. I know the STEELERS / mike Tomlin / BEN / etc. are talking to him.

Just a couple little "IFFY's" go our way and we could be hoisting the O'l Lombardi # 7 by nuber seven.

I’d hope we could get either a 4th for our 6th(assuming we have one) or a 5th. Or maybe a young safety. I don’t blame him for wanting a trade.

He reminds me a little of Frank Lewis back in the day. Lewis was a nice player, but not to the level of Swann and Stallworth. Then in '77 when they drafted Jim Smith and had Theo Bell, both who could do other things, he became expendable.

The Steelers traded Lewis to the Bills where he really had some good years.

Washington has had plenty of chances to play. He's never truly capitalized on them. He doesn't have elite deep speed, doesn't create separation, and his hands aren't as good as some like to think they are. I like the guy and want him to do well, but the combination of JuJu, Johnson, and Claypool are all better.
Could not have said this better. Thank you...

I'd look at Sexton to replace Washington...JMO

So...I cracked open my Guinness Extra Stout and started sipping and thinking...

The *'s need WR. True or false? True.

Gilmore wants a new home. True or false? True.

Put a trade together to swap the 2 players. We'll have to a draft pick (next year's 3) but that should get it done!!!

Did I mention that I love my Guinness at room temperature???
