Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington has apparently asked to be traded.

Steelers’ WR James Washington, a former 2018 second-round pick, has approached the Steelers and requested a trade based on his limited playtime last season and so far this preseason, per source.

This news isn’t the most surprising thing that could have happened. Washington led the Steelers in receiving yards in 2019, but had his snap count drastically reduced in 2020 after the team drafted Chase Claypool.

Snap counts weren’t officially tabulated last night in the HOF game book, but James Washington had two targets.

Last season he played 44 percent of offensive snaps, down from 64 the season before. Also had 392 receiving yards last season, down from 735 in 2019.

It isn’t known yet if the Steelers would be willing to deal Washington. He’s in the last year of his rookie contract.

Send him packing.... if they can get something decent for him doubtful they sign him next year...dont see him signing a big enough deal anywhere to get more that a 6th or 7th rd comp pick..if you can get better than that get it done

He was the guy who was going to replace juju… here is what to do
Tell him if by the deadline he isn’t getting the reps he wants then they will trade him… that coa’s us against wr injury early on and still lets the guy get his shot down the stretch before ufa

It’s a shame. I like Washington a lot. But, he’s not going to get used properly. There should be good value in a receiver like him. Green Bay? San Fran?

Can't blame him. He's buried on depth chart and if no one is hurt, he won't have a chance to prove he is worth what should be the best chance to get a good contract offer.

Keep him out of the division and conference though!

Honestly, as a route runner, he doesn't scare me at all. So if he stays in the division, we have a guy we should be able to cover.

It's pretty much the reason he doesn't get on the field as much as he wants to.
